Tanya - hang in there! I completely understand your feeling let down. After all, you're working really hard every other day, and depriving yourself of food you want. But I'll bet between your bug, the AlkaSeltzer, and the holiday stuff, you're full of water. Maybe only a pound or two of actual weight gain. That'll come off quickly, once it decides it's safe to release. You'll do it!

Tanya, stalls & gains are horrible on the ego, especially when you're being so "good" and trying SO hard! I think your body is just still recovering from being sick, though. I'm SURE you're in for a huge whoosh any minute now! Huge hugs coming your way...I am not a patient person at all once I make my mind up to be "good". I so understand. XOXO

ty everyone! No TOM not due for another week and half. I think its that winter weight thing....Hate it!!! I always gain 5-10 pound throught the winter but once spring comes and I putter through the yard and stuff more it comes off. I know I am not as active now as I usually am. This is the time of year I sit by the fireplace and read books like crazy. I know a whoosh will come, but everytime I step on the scale I just wanna cry!

I'm sorry you are stalling/have gained Katie. I know how frustrating it must be!! I gained on and off throughout Dec., but managed to lose about 3 lbs finally. It will come back off and take some friends with it soon!!

I just went to the grocery store and bought all kinds of goodies, including a bottle of red wine that I wanted to try. As soon as I drove up in my driveway, I knew I had not put that wine in the car. I had bagged it separately (I used the self check-out), and I didn't remember putting it in the car. The trouble was, I didn't know if I left it in the grocery cart or on the counter in the store. Called and they said, No, haven't seen it. Went back and the kind manager let me get another bottle without charge. I guess someone got a nice, free bottle of wine today. I just hope the manager didn't think I was lying about it. So frustrating, and I was in such a great mood until that happened, lol. Oh well, I did get another bottle.

Cindy, that is good service, you should be in an even better mood now. We once came out of a store with six bottles of wine and dropped them as we were loading them into the car. Went back in to warn them about the glass and to buy more and they wouldn't accept payment for the new wine. How nice is that?

Oh no, starting to feel bad and having some bathroom issues. Can you catch stuff over the internet...? Think I'm gonna get my blanket and find something good on tv - and probably go to sleep watching it.

Have a good evening folks.

I've just caught up after 10 days away from this thread. What a lot has been happening! I hope those of you who are/have been ill soon feel much better.

Mary and Nancy, sorry about the complications. I hope things are soon much better for you.

Jacci, sorry to hear DH's test results were disappointing.

Tanya, you're doing all the right things, so a whoosh is guaranteed to be on the way.

To keep warm in bed, I have two hot water bottles - one for my feet and a furry one to cuddle.

Hi all, just to let you know that Hubby may not be as bad as we thought!!

Basically Hubby got hold of the total wrong end of the stick when he spoke to his consultants secretary, she advised him the operation will be a total thyroid lobectomy and he heard total thyroidectomy. The former is half removal and the latter is full removal which would be done if the biopsy showed cancer cells. His second biopsy is inconclusive as was the first and the consultant is going to perform a half removal of the thyroid.

He isnt out of the woods yet as the consultant advised as he is a man there is a higher chance of cancer cells being present but at least we now have a chance!! We will find out the true pathology two weeks after surgery.

It just means that we can go into the New Year on a more positive note and deal with whatever the situation is in a few weeks time. I know it may sound daft but we are both a lot happier now.

While I am here I would like to wish all my judd budds the most happy of New Years and I hope 2013 is a Healthy and Happy Year for us all with plenty of weight loss too!! xx

Today I'm doing some recharging activities. I've been re-reading the Alternate Day Diet, and I went through my closet...all of it. I have a large box full of dress pants to donate, and I haven't culled out the denims, or tops that are too huge yet. I keep thinking I might need them for yardwork, or painting, or something. There they'll sit until they're so big I couldn't even wear them for dirty stuff. Same goes for the elastic waist knit pants I wear around the house. Still wearing them even though droopy drawers for sure.

I also went through the boxes of too-small jeans I kept. I donated everthing else, but kept my beloved Levis plus a couple other brands in different sizes. Very motivating because I know I'll eventually slide into each and every one of them, down to the 6's. So now I have jeans in 24s that are baggy but wearable, 22s that are barely zippable and way uncomfortable, but won't be long. I'm missing 20s, so I'll have to wear the 24s and 22s belted until I get into the 18s. Missing 12s too, but that may require (deserve!) a shopping trip. Then I seem to be covered all the way down. I'm glad I took inventory. It feels good to visit with those old friends and look forward to their return!

Jacci, I couldn't have found a better post this evening. I am delighted to think of you and DH in a much, much happier frame of ming tomorrow evening. Indeed enjoy a wonderful New Year's Eve.

LCG, i love that you have been shopping in your own wardrobe! isn't that the most fun. i love finding clothes i have loved fit me all over again.

I hit the sales today and have stunning pair of shoes and a long formal dress which I hope to wear tomorrow evening. We do a formal party with about 16 neighbours, started at the Millenium and we have just kept going. Both were real bargains.

Pics, Cindy? Do you have the party at your home? It sounds lovely. I have not had to wear any formal dresses in a long time...I once dated someone for about 4 years who frequently attended formal parties/occasions and it was nice to dress up. Thankfully, at that time I had the body to do it, lol.

This is so nostalgic. Don't know anyone who does this anymore. It was so fun to get really dressed up once in a while. Have a blast and pictures would be fun to see.

I wonder if any of my JB's could suggest an easy dish to take for my family get-together tomorrow? So far the menu consists of, beef stew, broccoli casserole, cranberry salad, collards, black-eyed peas, sweet potato casserole, deviled eggs and lemon pound cake...That's what people have said they are bringing. I'd like to bring something tasty, but also relatively easy to make and take.

Cindy, here's a favorite of mine, and all my family and friends too. It's also low carb, for anyone who cares, but definitely not low calorie!

We just call them hors d'oeuvres (but we say it horse doovers - thanks to a wonderfully goofy dad!)

Get deli ham sliced - a medium slice so it doesn't tear or have any holes
Softened cream cheese
Scallions/green onions, ends trimmed off and tough outer leaves removed

Lay out the ham, spread an even layer of cream cheese, and put the scallion at one end and roll up into a long roll. Slice into bite sized pieces. Yummy and savory. And easy!

That does sound good! Thank you! One of my co-workers made that for one of our xmas parties, but I think she mixed the scallions into the cream cheese before spreading on the ham. I'm not sure what you mean by putting the scallions on one end...One big piece of ham, then cut up? It might be easier (for me) to just do a lb of ham cut up into slices, then the roll ups?

Yeah, this would work a lot of different ways. I line the scallion up at the very edge of a slice of ham, parallel to the edge, then roll it up so the scallion runs through the lenght of the roll. So when you slice it, there's some of the scallion in each piece.

You can also do another layer of cream cheese and flour tortillas. So you'd have tortilla, then cream cheese, then ham, then cream cheese, then scallion, and roll.

how about buffalo chicken dip... people seem to go crazy on that. I prefer mexican 7 layer dip myself. But for xmas my dad made this dip that was just kinda like little bites of heaven in your mouth..... its so simple, apple pie filling, 8oz cream cheese, half a packet of oatmeal. you mix it all together and serve on crackers or pretzels (he actually used those flips which are both). It was soooooooo good!

For xmas I made sweet kelbasa. Which is really easy... 2 lbs of kelbasa cut in to forth slivers, a small can of crushed pineapple, small onion slivered, whole jar of chili sauce and about 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Mix it all together, including the pineapple juice and put in crock pot on high for about an hour....my brother in laws and hubby look forward to it every year!!!
