Carly, it's just awful and such a tragedy at any time, but right now during the holidays, unthinkable. My sympathy to DW regarding her son.
Jacci, I'm so sorry the news wasn't as good as you had hoped. I'm sending & for his quick recovery.Dawn, have lots of fun at DL! Merry Christmas Cindy, and all my lovely JBs! |

Wow, did I have a lot of catching up to do.
Adi, so sorry about your tooth. I have two that need repair but can't afford it until I find a job. Popcorn the culpret. Carly, I got a pair of slippers that go in the microwave. Once my feet are warm, everything else feels more comfortable. Would love an electric blanket. Mary, how awful to have to wait so long to get the eye straightened out. It sounds like it is improving though. Hope by the time you have your appointment it will have healed itself. Nancy, hope your hyernia repair turns out okay. Hate hearing when surgeries have complications. Your DH must be the sweetest. What a wonderful good deed. Carly, I love the 26 acts of kindness idea. Could change the world if it caught on. Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere. Maybe will post on facebook. Jacci, I don't know why but it seems to be true about thyroid cancer being one that has a high cure rate. I know four people without recurrence for many years. Will be praying for a successful visit this week. You have a great attitude. God bless you all.

That was really cute. We have goats on some of our property to keep the brush down. There were lots of babies the last time we were there. So cute!

Fun gift, Tanya. Speaking of the hubby that supports your day of total relaxation.
Am so curious about your avi. Maybe it is my eyes playing tricks, but your head looks like it is floating in front of something. Very eerie. |

Katiebubb, maybe try some potassium to get rid of the bloat, so you're not so uncomfortable til next year?
![]() I think Alka-Seltzer is high in sodium, and any time I've had too much sodium, potassium helps me out a lot with water retention. Of course, some people have to watch their potassium intake, so only if you have no contraindications. I get NuSalt and put it in gelatin capsules...cheaper than potassium pills & no fillers. But you could also put it on your food or in broth or something. Or just take some pills. |

UD Conundrum...
I was really looking forward to my UD today after a successful, but slightly tough DD yesterday. I think it was tough because I was surrounded by my family who was still plowing through Christmas leftovers and treats, and I was eating...plain turkey breast and eggs. I was so looking forward to my coffee with HWC and something yummy for breakfast.
Luckily, I got onto ****** and started logging in my planned dinner. Leftover turkey, potato pancakes out of leftover mashed pots, leftover yams w/butter, brown sugar and marshmallow topping, and Mom's traditional and DELICIOUS apple cake. Even with the very moderate serving sizes I have planned, I am within 200 calories of my UD allowable. And that doesn't include my beloved aperitif, the Vodka Gimlet. Nooooooooo! So I had quite a moment. I don't want another UUAD. I don't want to skimp on this special planned dinner. I don't want to have a day that feels like a DD until dinner. What to do? After calming myself down, and thinking it through, I know exactly what to do. Hot tea w/sweetener, no cream for breakfast. Chicken broth with Tostitos salsa con queso for lunch. Hot tea as needed all day. Planned dinner including aperitif. I can do it. I was looking forward to eating this morning, but I realize my stomach isn't really hungry at all, so no deprivation. Simple. The JUDDD calm takes over. It ain't the day I had in mind, and thank heavens I logged everything before I started eating! But it'll be worth it to not go over yet again today. Sorry for the long post. I just had to share both my moment of panic, and the calm that set in when I realized what we all realize sooner or later with JUDDD. ![]()

Good job LCG! I do that often, and find it's okay to have little or at least fewer calories throughout the day to be able to have a yummy, satisfying dinner on an UD.

That might be why I'm not losing very quickly. I rarely track my UD's. Today, I've had 2 cups of coffee with HWC, about 150 cals, and two mini sausage biscuits (380!), and 3 oz of egg nog (135). So far then, 665 calories...

I'm glad the JUDDD calm washed over and you, LCG, and now you have a good plan. I think fasting till dinner or just having a few calories before dinner helps you (me) enjoy said dinner so much more!

Ugh, I'm so sick
Hubby's had it since last week and he's at the Dr. right now since he's not getting better-he's getting a strep throat test while he's there. I started coming down with it last night and feel so icky right now bleh. Today's an UD and I've eaten nothing but junk so far-leftover chex party mix, sweet mix (cereal/m&m mixture), and then leftover bean/beef/cheese dip and tortilla chips. I'm probably already over 1,000 calories for the day and it's not even noon yet Going to be one of those days ![]() |
