Thanks for the welcome. And answering my question. I do have some Resveratrol so I will take it until its gone, but I'm glad to hear that it's not required.
My calories are 444/2219. today I've had an Atkins bar and a protein shake, and still not gotten to 444. I haven't read the book yet, it comes out on kindle next week, so I'm going to get it then, it'll be faster than waiting for it in the mail. Now I must go check out all the DD recipes and food porn. |

Hello All: Carly, chiming in late to say I'm glad your procedure went well and you're feeling better. CarlyE, welcome.
I am still struggling to keep my UDs from getting out of control. Must change mindset somehow. The DDs are easy but I sure rebound from them. Did anyone else have this issue in the beginning, and what specifically did you do to get UDs under control? Help! |

Atira, I think a key for me in keeping my UDs in control is to eat a little less for breakfast and lunch, so I can have more later in the day. If I wind up short on calories in the evening, I really get cranky and unhappy.
Sometimes I have just coffee w/HWC for breakfast. Sometimes I have a late breakfast so I can skip lunch and have a snack before dinner to keep me going. It depends on what I'm planning for dinner - whether it's a lower or higher calorie meal. In the beginning, it worked out that I'd have a couple/few hundred calories left over in the evening. Then I'd just have a big spoon of peanut better to get up to my calories. As the 13 weeks have progessed, and I've gotten more comfortable, I can plan for my calories in the evening and stick to it pretty well, most of the time. It'll get easier, believe me! Just keep at it and plan, plan, plan. Good luck!

Thanks LoCarbGal and Calichris. Great responses. I definitely find that savings cals for later in the day has helped on the DDs. I've always been a breakfast eater, so this has been a tough adjustment. I guess I will just keep hanging in here and doing the best I can until this starts feeling easier and all the Christmas candy is out of my face. Not the best time of year to be starting a new WOE.

Thanks Carly! Hope you're feeling better by now!
Welcome Carlye!!! Welcome Melisa, happy UD! Atira, I try to fast until lunch as well. I don't have to worry about calories on UDs as much that way and feel like I have more freedom to "have fun out" with my family for lunch or dinner. (or both some days!) I have teens & a tween at home, so there's sometimes alot of running around happening here. As for "the best time" to start the plan, I think it's a great time to start! If you can do it now, you can DEFINATELY do it the rest of the year! ![]() Morning all! Yesterday's DD really surprised me. I've been keeping them low anyways, but I didn't eat at all until at my folks' house last night, and then only 2 tiny shortbread cookies. Wow, even shocked myself! I just simply wasn't hungry except a bit around dinner time. Even bought the family our Friday night pizza and was fine not eating. I hope this continues. |

I've been on JUDDD since last Monday, and I've already lost a few pounds. I am so thrilled that I am finally out of the 230s, after being stuck there for ages. I did Atkins induction for a few weeks prior to starting JUDDD, and couldn't budge past 230. Then I gained back a few pounds around Thanksgiving, and really felt like I was never going to get anywhere. I was beating myself up and wanting to give up completely. This morning I weighed myself and I'm 229.4. I finally feel like the scale is moving in the right direction. I'm so happy because this motivates me to keep sticking to JUDDD. I feel so relieved that something is working! Knowing this will make my DDs easier, too!

So after much reading about the potato hack (PH) here and over on MDA, I'm going to start with 10 days of that to give my weight loss a kick up the butt, THEN do my JUDDD induction.
That works out quite well for me. 2 days after PH I have my anniversary and a wedding to go to, and the day after that the world ends. [According to the Mayans Then I can start induction and work it so Christmas day is an UD. So I had a DD, and I think cos I've fasted in the past I had no ill effects, I even managed to eat under my DD cals, or the DD cals of my goal weight! Then my UD went well, until I ate my two mortal enemies of bread and dairy. And I do have some thoughts about DDs. My plan will be to either have a total fast, or mono-eat foods with a high satiety, like boiled potatoes/rice/eggs/white fish. And include these foods into my UDs also. I must say, I'm really looking forward to it |

Doesn't it feel great to finally see that scale move? I know for me it was such a relief! Having the notion that the scale is moving and also knowing that the UD is around the corner all help to keep the DD's tolerable for me. I'm so glad that you are liking JUDDD so far! |

seaofsand~ I tried doing Atkins again in May and again, I could not get past 235. I started believing it was a set-point and I'd be stuck there forever.. so glad I found JUDDD! Different things work for different people, it's all good!!

MD is a medium day, which is the average of the UD and DD. Some people use them to switch rotations (DD, MD, UD).

interesting, thank you!
I was just going to do two DD to switch my rotation (which I need to do next week) but a medium day sounds more pleasant! |

From what I've read on here, two UDs (or MD then UD) is much better than two DDs. I think the reasoning is that two DDs in a row makes the body hang on to weight, thinking it's starving.

Hi all. I'm on my second DD, which is going much better than my first. Yesterday's UD was great! I felt so psychologically refreshed with an UD.
So, my name is Christy. I'm a 45-year-old housewife. I have about 90 pounds to lose, depending on where I want to set my goal at. I've mostly been on Weight Watchers and low carb, neither of which was something I could maintain. LC was far too restrictive and I was always hungry on WW. Last year I lost 45 lbs on the Specific Carb Diet, which is a diet for people with Crohn's, and felt great. But like LC, it's incredibly restrictive and I fell off that wagon with a mighty thump and have gained it all back. So far I'm loving this WOE due to the the UDs. I truly think it's something I can easily live with. |

Hi Christy and welcome. I am so pleased you are already settling into the UD, DD routine and seeing just how doable JUDDD is. I always say 'all diets work if you stick to them'.... but some are just too hard to stick to.

Well, two weeks on JUDDD and I'm down 1.2 lb. I know that doesn't sound like much, but for me that's a happy result! On LC, I dropped 4 lb the first week and then didn't budge. Don't get me wrong, I'm staying low-carb. It has been so healing for me, and i enjoy the food. But I'm grateful to see a loss and feel my tummy getting smaller! And I'm enjoying the JUDDD freedom others have mentioned, because I'm being much more adventurous with my LC menu. I've had "pizza" and "chocolate cake" where before i had to stick to pure leafy greens.

I'm officially at my two-week mark as well! Down 5 pounds, though I suspect at least some of that was Thanksgiving bloat and so I expect to lose at a slower pace.
I love how JUDD has simplified things for me. Not having to think about food half the week is a real relief. |

Hi, everybody, and welcome to all.
I am returning after a few weeks off to change to nutritional ketosis and hope to be able to JUDDD better without the carb hunger. We shall see. Yesterday was my first DD, actually unplanned, but realized early evening that it would be easier to call it a DD than try to eat more. So, here I am. So glad to be back. Missed my JUDDD Buds. |

Hi again, everyone. I want to start by saying thanks for all the support that you give me here. All of you are so kind!
This past Saturday, an UD, I went a little crazy with my calories. Very crazy. My husband was home for the weekend (he works out of town right now), and we just stayed home snacking all day and watching movies together. I was worried that I would gain back a couple of pounds, but when I weighed myself this morning, I was shocked to see that I didn't. I am only a few ounces up from where I was last week when I hit 229. I have to say that JUDDD is amazing. If I hadn't eaten all that crud over the weekend, I'd probably be down another pound or so. So, this coming weekend I am planning to be much stricter than I was on Saturday. It is always hard when my husband is home because he is a guy who can eat anything and never get fat. I am taking my measurements now, too, and my waist has lost about half an inch. My pants are feeling looser. I love this feeling, and I love JUDDD! |

I started JUDDD back in August and was doing great for a couple months, then totally fell off the bandwagon. I started back at the end of November and I'm so glad to be back!!
I'm 30 and I'm a stay at home mom to my four kiddos ages 5, 3, and 18 month old twins. Never a dull moment at our house! LOL! |
