No, don't ever torture yourself. This is both simple and easy. Easy Peasy!!! LOL Yes, JUDDD is effectively an extended fast of approximately 36 hours because it takes our full DD and adds the sleeping hours before and following that DD.

Since our bodies are set up following natural circadian rhythm, which is regulated by daylight and nighttime, we have certain highs and lows within us regulated by that natural rhythm.

If you switch your Up and Down Days into periods from NOON to NOON, you are combining half of each day into one single same circadian rhythm day.. effectively feeding your body during its up cycle about the same calories every daily up cycle. Since your Down Days are very low calorie, when combined with Up Day calories and then divided into halves to be fitted into a NOON to NOON schedule, every circadian rhythm cycle will have about the same number of calories, all lower than your normal, but none truly at a fasting or a feasting level, like we do on JUDDD. I think you could lose weight that way, but every day would simply be *a diet*. That's how your body would see it, based on it's natural rhythm cycle.

One of the strengths of JUDDD is the power of its extended 36-hour fasting period, which is then brought slamming up against the feasting Up Day of full calories. (It must be a lot like living in the caveman days when you are starving and eating whatever tubers and bugs, shoots and berries you can find one day, and then the next day.. shazam!.. somebody kills a wild hairy beast and everybody gets a real good meal before it's gone and they are facing hunger again.)

And we all get to "diet" however we want to, but as to intermittent fasting within the JUDDD framework.. nooooooo.. it's not going to happen much with me. I tried the going-all-day-without-eating-and-just-having-supper thing, and.. I didn't like it.

Hope all goes exceedingly well for you. It's exciting that you are with us and are going to start in again in a little different way. The more you read, the more sense it makes and the more you realize how easily it works if you don't fight it or try to redesign it. Good luck!

You're welcome! I was trying it and ended up gaining because I was so hungry every day! Makes sense because I was just actually following low calorie and not JUDDD I guess we all need to remember to just keep it simple

I agree too! Chris's right that it is amazing that we are doing this in December! The month where most gain a significant amount (or at least I usually do), it is great to even keep from gaining!

Plan for month to get back to my low of 223 and then maintain for the month. Maintain for the month however so far has meant have an UD every day so far - so maintaining is not happening! Strict DD today so far.

I am happy to have lost 60 pounds this year but realy need to not go backwards! I will get back to weight loss in the new year. I will keep up my new exercise regime though so I don't feel like I am slipping back into my old ways!

12/01 - 224 UD (after a DD that turned into at best a MD)
12/02 - 227 UD
12/03 - 226.5 UD (dinner out for work!)
12/07 - 231 DD (Dinner out for work / pleasure twice this week)

Hi gang, one of the Maintainers who are going into WLM for this month. I have been seeing 128 too often in November.

My goal is to see 126 or under for most of the month. After my first Potato DD yesterday I weighed in at :

PDD = Potaoto Down Day, 300 cals

Dec 1 UD : 126
Dec 2 PDD : 128.2
Dec 3 UD : 126.4
Dec 4 PDD : 128
Dec 5 UD : 126.6
Dec 6 DD : 127.8 That was interesting I had 3 glasses of wine and one potato... not the way to get your 5 a day.
Dec 7 UD : 125 Different scales they always weigh a little lower.
Dec 8 DD : 126

Carly, sorry you are still in pain. Hope you feel better.

Carly, definitely inflammation fluid. No-one puts on 3.5lbs of fat overnight - you couldn't even eat that much fat in one day! I hope you soon feel much better.

I keep thinking how amazing it is that we're all here in December, comfortably knowing that there needn't be a weight-emergency after the Christmas and New Year celebrations. I think this is so important and I totally agree. When I compare my peace of mind to Decembers in the past...no despair, no self-hatred, no "Oh, what's the use, I might as well gorge until New Year's..." and on on... well, there almost is no comparison. This is a wonderful way to eat and to live.

Well I am back from my hols and feel like I have put on loads!! DD today and will weigh in tomorrow....finished Nov at 226 so would like to get to 220 in Dec. Would love to get to 219 really but dont know how achievable that will be with Christmas!

Dec 4th after 10 ud's and 1 dd...229...quite pleased with that tbh...

Dec 7 - 146.0 - yesterday's DD wasn't so great, but that's ok
Dec 8 - 146.0 - after an UD

Going to the gym again today. Making butternut squash soup. Presidents Choice had a package where all the veggies are cut up, all I need to do is add the stock, how easy is that? Love it!

Goal for December 130.0 unless I decide to go into maintenance later in Dec.
(I'm taking the break and want the bounce to be between 138-135)

12/1- DD 138.0 ( that must have been the Chinese Food- salty!)
12/2- UD 136.3 (Yesterday was potatoe only DD)
12/3- DD 136.6
12/4- UD 136.6 (Starting maintenance break through 1/1/13)
12/5- DD 137.3
12/6- UD 135.3 (maybe it was the loss of spinal fluid )
12/7- DD 138.8 I'm still in pain from the 5th- so maybe it's inflamation?
12/8- UD 137.9
