I was able to find Ore-Ida hash browns and one other "off" brand (more local?) that had no fat in them. I think I saw in these postings that others have even found frozen fries without any added fat. Every brand I looked at, including Ore-Ida, had some fat added, like 2-6grams per serving. Would love to get a brand name if someone has found fat-free frozen fries!

If I can eat only potatoes on DD I think I should have no problems with on these days...wish me luck!

BTW where are you guys finding fat free hashbrowns? I check my local store and they all had fat.

Just a clarification on your post Librarygirl - what do you mean "eating to maintenance levels on UP days"? What percentage is that on the calculator?

I'm amazed at all the people who say they don't feel hungry doing this hack. I've had 2 potatoes (150g each) today so far and nothing else to eat or drink except water and chicken broth and I'm starving!!! I still have 2 potatoes left for today without going over 500 but I'm considering ditching them and just drink coffee with cream to tide me over (won't be home for another 4.5 hours). I don't think I can do this hack.

Same thing happened to me, oceania. I cannot do the PH. I thought after doing Juddd for so long, I could handle the PH, but last time I tried (about 3-4 wks ago) I ended up overeating and NOT potatoes, lol.

Oceania - Salt and vinegar potato chips!! LOL I'm on my 3rd week and have never thought of it! EEEEEEEEEEE!! I made my first batch of microwave chips yesterday and realized that (after burning 2 batches TO FLAMES) that a "low" setting is required. I made two batches today, gobbled them up and THEN read your post. I have a feeling my malt vinegar is going to get some serious use tomorrow, you rock!

And no no-fat frozen taters?? Bummer! I've found them at HEB and Walmart. Total boooooo that you haven't found any! It's funny, the only ones I found that were zero fat were store brands. Oreida = boooooo.

Some people mentioned they don't count calories while doing it - they eat whenever they're hungry until they're full so maybe that's why. I ended up having a cup of coffee with cream and having a bite of a couple of things - it was the worst. At work, there was a party so there was tons of yummy food - I had a 2 bites of chicken, 1 shrimp, 1 thin slice of cheese, 1 slice of cucumber and broccoli. I then went to my volunteer job and there was not only a birthday party but a cake baking workshop!!! So I had 1 bite of chocolate cake, 4 ketchup chips and a cup of coffee with cream. I hope that was was all under 300...eek! Oh and there was tons of chocolate. I took a couple of for an UD ...lol

I guess I'm just not that in to potatoes, lol. When I did the hack, the cold potatoes tasted like nothing, no matter what I tried to season them with, and even warm I didn't want another serving after 2-3. I haven't ever LCed that long, so I don't feel deprived of carbs, which may be what makes some people love the hack so much. I don't even want potatoes as a side much anymore.

OMG! I'm so FRUSTRATED! By this time in the last hack I had lost 12 pounds. And now? 2

I haven't changed what I'm eating, the amount or the types of foods or condiments, nothin. The ONLY change I can think of is that last time I was drinking about a half gallon of green tea a day on average and this time I have not. So, in a last ditch effort I brewed up tea today and am drinking like a sailor. I'll try the tea today and tomorrow but if I don't see results after that I QUIT.

I just don't understand this at ALL.

lindy--I am so sorry you are frustrated. I would be too. In my world (I am currently doing hcg) we call that a stall and it happens. Just happens. However, one of the first questions we ask if this happens to you is "have you been at this stalled weight for a while?" Like in your life have you hovered around 150 for several years? If so, your body is too comfortable at it and it may take longer to get below. Fear not, if you show your body who is in charge (YOU are!!!) it will break in its own sweet time. If not, then something else is at play. I hate it when our bodies do not cooperate!!!! Frustrating indeed. I hope the tea is just the boost you need!

Thanks Dawn

I'm not sure if I can say if I'm really at a stall. I was fighting with 148-153 (on Atkins) for about 4 months and then just went nuts and off plan. I gained 18 pounds in 3 weeks then did my first potato hack and lost 16 of those pounds in 2 weeks. Now I'm back to 150 and have been hacking for 10 days but nothings really moving.

I hope the tea works too!

Thank you for your kind words ♥

I think that makes a big difference in the scheme of things because 18lbs in 3 weeks sounds like mostly water weight gain which I'm thinking is probably is why you lost that weight so quickly rather than they PH? How many calories do you consume while on the PH? I also imagine you're not getting all the other essential nutrients and vitamins your body needs protein and fat by only eating potatoes...maybe body is is in distress and holding on to the weight because of that?

I haven't restarted my potato hacking yet. Overnight company Sat-Sunday, so I'll restart on Monday. I lost a pound this week just drinking my resistant potato starch toddy at each meal. Not really watching what I'm eating either. That may just work as well as potatoes for me. Time will tell however.

Sorry this hack isn't going as well for you Lindy. My second and third ones didn't for me either. Not sure why really. If the one I start next week doesn't work, doing 2 days on; 2 days off........well I probably won't do them anymore and just do the potato starch and increase resistant starch foods.

Well geez, back down those two pounds. I was figuring I'd stop the hack today but I guess now I'm gonna wait and see what tomorrow and the next day might bring just in case I'm somehow on my way again. Hello Saturday, Hello taters! (and green tea!)

Buttoni that's really interesting about losing the pound with resistant starch! I look forward to seeing what happens in the coming weeks

Oceania - It couldn't have been 16 pounds of water .... right? I can see 5 pounds, easy, but not more than that? Vitamins, that surely could be. I have a multivitamin I've been meaning to take but have only done so twice. I need to get on that if I'm going to continue.

Maybe not all 16lbs but I bet most of it was. I was on Dr. Bernstein which is highly restrictive low cal/low carb diet and almost everyone who follows it will lose at least 10lbs by the first week (some even more) most of it which is water weight as carbs hold a lot of water (I think I read it's a 3:1 so for each ounce of carb stored as glycogen in your body, there's 3 ounces of water). So if you went carb crazy on your 3 week hiatus then it's very likely most of it's water ...it's also pretty hard to gain 16lbs of fat in 3 weeks I would imagine. Also new fat comes off much more quickly than old fat (it's been with our bodies for so long).

Whatever it was I am glad it is gone! New weight does seem easier to lose then old weight. I am definitely at a very stubborn plateau of 150 pounds right now. Still deciding what program beyond JUDDD I should do to lose it on.

Gahhhh, lol what's up with 150? I'm stuck at the same place. I went another 2 days on the PH and didn't lose and am now eating low-cal-ish lo-carb-ish while I figure out my next move as well. Atkins stopped working for me at 150 and now after a year and a half of locarbing I'm trying to figure out what's best for my body. I sure am HUNGRY now that I'm eating less calories and over 25 carbs. I'm not eating sugar or cake, but had a lot of fruit yesterday and was STARVING. I forgot what it's like to be lo-cal, lol, hungry.

Man, be careful of the fruit, Lindy. I ate a piece of fruit everyday when I did 60 days of Paleo Whole 30 (ate dates and small amounts of honey for sweeteners, too) and gained 10# in 60 days! And although the fruit didn't make me hungry all the time, I paid a dear price for my Whole 30 Challenges. I expected a little bounce up on Whole 30, but not THAT much. Now I'm struggling to get that 10# + 3# more gained over the holidays Nov-Dec off.

Started my Potato Hack this morning at 174. If I can't stay on it long enough (from boredom) or it isn't working for me anymore, I'm back to square 1 Atkins Induction. We'll see how this hack goes for me. I'm going to try doing just roasted, cooled potatoes + potato starch this time and see how that goes.

I tried the grated potato in the waffle iron today. What a mess,a nd it's a non-stick iron. Stuck badly, but I was able to get them off the with the assistance of a knife and finish them off in a non-stick skillet. I'll just stick to a skillet from now on. But they were crisp and tasty when finally done to my satisfaction.

I drink it in 6-8 oz. water with a few drops of Great Value grape or strawberry-watermelon water flavor drops. Not bad that way at all, Anne.

Man, I've got to tell you guys about a classic Peggy BLOOPER night before last. I made a huge old pot of mashed potatoes for dinner (mashed in their own broth) and thought "What the heck, I'll put a few tablespoons of the starch right in them." Big mistake! Let me repeat, DO NOT DO THAT!!!! LOL They got unbelievably gummy. Still edible, but the strangest mouth feel. Hubby ate some and he just smiled while he ate them. The gumminess didn't stop us, as that was my dinner! I wasn't having a lovely pork chop with mine. We did have a real good laugh over the gummy mashed taters though.

Thanks, Peggy, I will try that.
I did the same thing with a pot of potato soup that was supposed to last a few days. When I ate it I felt so bad and bloated and burped strange powdery yuck. I knew that wasn't the way to do it. I found it yesterday in back of refrig-it was a strange yellow color. Not edible now at all.

I ate a piece of smoked sausage last night, too. And I was rewarded with 2# loss instead of a gain. I craved some meat and fat so badly. But will continue my potato hacking today. and see where it takes me. Hopefully down into the 160's again.
