Thanks, Adi! I think tomorrow I'll add fried eggs to breakfast, then, potatoes the rest of the day. I've been feeling like I need to add more protein anyway. I didn't lose a lot of weight the last time I did 6 days on the PH. But, I didn't keep within my allotted calories. I ate till full. That does not work for me. I'll let you know how I do!

Well, my potato experience went badly.
I was starting to get sick but didn't know it. I wasn't hungry all day and then cut up tons of rusetts to pan "fry". They tasted so "off" somehow and it really "got" me! KWIM? ![]() I am a huge lover of potatos too, soooo. Anyway, been having a horrid stomach virus and am still not 100%. I may give it another try eventually, but just can't yet! I believe in the hack!! The potatoes were innocent! ![]() Phyl ![]() |

Good morning taterheads! Today will be my second PDD and I've got a quick question... I bought the salsa queso that has been mentioned here to use with broth on my boiled red potatoes. I notice that it has 3 grams of fat in it. Will the fat interfere with the hack's success or are the 3 gms of fat not enough to fuss about?
Thanks!! ~Pat |

Phyl - so sorry you were sick. I know how that can affect food taste. Get well first.
Shari - AND I am down .4 this morning after an UD. YEA!!! Now this is what I ate yesterday. B - 2 fried eggs, coffee with HWC L - 12 oz of cold boiled red skinned potatoes with 1 T of mustard, SF ketchup and SF salad dressing. In little piles around the plate to dip my potatoes in. Cut the taters up into chunks. D - baked potato with lowfat sour cream, salsa and 4 oz of homemade chili that was only ground meat and tomato sauce at that point. 10 pecan halves So really only one true no fat added potato meal but it worked for one day. DD today with one egg, coffee with HWC for breakfast, broth and boiled potato for lunch and dinner. Around 400 calories

Pat--a whole lot of people on Mark's Daily Apple were using a teaspoon of fat per potato with no ill effect. I have been using 2 Tbs of SCQ per meal with no ill effect. I really think it is a matter of trying it out for yourself and seeing--but I don't think 2-3 g of fat are going to cause much of a problem.

No loss for me from day two of my potato hack. Hoping I get a whoosh tomorrow so I will stay the course today for day 3.

I hope you get that whoosh tomorrow too! I think the scale moving was the only way I could do the hack. I would go to bed thinking there is no way I can do this another day, and then I would wake up and see the weight loss and then think well maybe I can do one more day. The days I didn't see a drop in weight I always seemed to have a larger one the next day. I hope the same happens for you. I also ate tons of salt and it didn't seem to make much difference.

Just posted this on the other thread and MDA but feel I need to tell everyone!! This is my 8th day of eating only white cold potatoes and I cannot zip up my jeans I wore a few days ago. So I gained on the hack. I am so disappointed. I was desperate to do something after the holidays and did something that made it worse.

awww--I saw your post over at MDA. I'm so sorry! I guess we are all metabolically different, and as with everything, it doesn't work for everybody. I am so impressed you gave it a full 8 days. I will say, some folks noticed even more weight loss after they stopped, so you will have to look for that!

Fingers crossed Ouizoid but I certainly won't count on it because I have put on weight on the potato hack. I had planned on doing two weeks so really disappointed to say the least but eight days is definitely long enough and today struggling with my jeans was it, the final straw!
I am not sure what to do but thinking about having a normal eating day tomorrow and then back to Dukan to lose. I may return to JUDDD for maintenance but just not sure about anything at the moment. . |

I posted on the other hack thread here but I also am UP which surprises me, because the last time I did the potato days I lost and pretty well. I am hoping it was just salt from 4x bacon & eggs on Monday and lots of salt yesterday, rings are tight. I just didn't expect to see THAT number on the scale. I am drinking lots of water today and I did add some egg and whey protein this a.m. and will do potatoes the rest of the day after waiting 4-5 hours. At this point I am the highest I've been in 6 months. Not what I wanted to see!

Good luck C'Marie. Let us know how you get on.
I also wondered if salt was a problem for me. I did mention it on the MDA forum and it was said that shouldn't be the case. I have stuck to it faithfully in only eating cold white potatoes with malt vinegar and LOTS of natural sea salt. I wonder if water weight could be the reason for some of the large losses? Or gain in my case? ![]() Just read another huge success story on MDA! ![]() ![]() |

WJS, I don't know. I had lots of salt last time as well and lost. But I did have probably lots of salt in my system starting out since I had bacon & eggs 4x Monday. Now I wish I would've weighed Sunday after my two UUAD Fri/Sat. I have NO idea whether this is leftover from that indulgent time or from whatever else. If I start to see a downward trend I may continue beyond what I originally thought, especially if I can do eggs in the a.m. for protein. Pretty cheap eating plan.

It is cheap, that's for sure. It will certainly be a shock going from only potatoes to loads of steak, chicken protein etc.. if I do go back to Dukan. It costs a fortune!
I don't want to give TMI but I haven't been properly since doing it so perhaps with that problem and all the salt I could be blowing up like a balloon. I certainly feel like one! ![]() |

@WJS, if by TMI you mean regulation, perhaps you need magnesium. Especially since doing potatoes for 8 days you may have thrown off the potassium/magnesium balance (potatoes are very potassium rich). I use natural calm at night for when that is an issue

Thanks, ouizoid, I may stay the course for awhile if for no other reasons other than I'm stubborn and it's cheap. Budget is super tight this month.

Thank you C'Marie for the tip. I will take a magnesium tablet before going to bed. Ouizoid fingers crossed.
C'Marie keep us posted will be watching to see how you get on. If you lost the first time chances are you are one that it works well on so most probably will again. Good luck. |

I have been doing a potato dd about once a week, and it seems to help..at first I was going to use boullion cubes instead of canned broth but someone said that if I could be allergic to the msg in the cubes I should use the broth..one other thing that I changed was I stopped having any gluten..I found gluten free pasta and some other things, so I've kept that up..I know everyone doesn't have a problem with food allergies, but sometimes it's hard to spot a problem until you stop eating some things..I think that the gluten also increased my appetite. so I'm staying the course with those changes, plus I have added a magnesium supplement daily..and OH..one thing that surprised me was at the end of a potato day, I was not feeling very well, so I had a bowl of the gluten free pasta with a little bit of sauce, and I still lost the next day..so I now have a little pasta on my potato days...hope I don't have to stop that, have to see , I guess.

I am out. No more potatoes for me right now. I have not lost one ounce and in the last two days tracking calories 1100/800 potatoes and protein only in the a.m. one of those. The first day I did potatoes only. Got dizzy during the day so I decided to do protein (eggs only and one scoop whey protein) 5 hours before potatoes in the afternoon. I am really puzzled. I lost great the first time I did this. Nothing this time. I feel bloated and like a stuffed sausage in my pants. I cut salt way down yesterday and drank tons and tons of water and herb tea. I am up 5 pounds and need to do something more drastic I think to get rid of it. Seems like if it worked the first time it would work this time. Going back to super low carb/JUDDD until my next hcg round.

I whooshed down 2.6 this am after going back to LC no starch no sugar yesterday after my 2 potato days. Just an update. Still 2.4 to go and I would like to get down another 2-3 from there before I start my next hcg round.

I am definitely going to start the Potato Hack tomorrow! Most of you seem to have had great success! I have a bag full in the pantry that need to be used. I would love to see more than a 1lb loss next time I weigh in.

Sadly, no whoosh for me Shari but am glad that it is working for you all. I might try it again on DDs next week with a protein breakfast. The experiment that is my slow weight loss continues ..... I would so love to find the magic answer that moves some pounds that I sometimes latch onto anything that sounds vaguely plausible. Still looking.
