Yes, it is okay. I would limit the amount of soda, simply because of sodium, but it shouldn't negate the fast.

Somewhere this has been answered and I believe it is at the beginning of the thread. I can't remember who?!? Probably PJ.
I believe and so does Quis, that it truly doesn't matter much unless you are worried about BS issues. It is much higher GI when heated, but remember that the science to this fast, is that you are not consuming any fat or sugar. So, unless you have diabetes or suffer with pre-diabetes, I am not sure that the temp matters.

Oooh, I am going to watch this!! I was wondering how it would work with hcg too. I mean we are eating low fat while doing the hcg, so would this work I seem to think, but will let you experiment first I really need the craving suppression--I am struggling mightily with that right now. I need to quit eating chocolate while on plan. Just makes me want more. Let me know how it goes and what you finally decide to eat. Are you posting on the hcg thread for this too? Let me know......

Oh that's not to say that I don't have cravings for nuts & wine... If there is a jar of almond or peanut butter in my house, there had better NOT be any spoons, is all I'm sayin'... Those seem to have calmed down too for me.

I am also really interested in this. I did round of hcg and lost 15 pounds and kept it off. I wonder if combining the two is ok?? I guess it should be seeing there is no fat

shelby, I believe this is the reason that I like the tater only DD. It isn't a lot of taters but then when you are eating so little anyway? Calm and the hunger is minimal which is wonderful.

Yes! It works. I did only potatoes & drank some broth the first time. Lost 5 lbs. in 4 days.

The 2nd was after Christmas and I lost 3 lbs in 4 days and I had some protein for breakfast waited 4 hours before eating ONLY taters. I also tried to JUDDD.

Just now realized that I lost better without the protein and without JUDDDing.

Best wishes Kimberly! It is fun and the best part is that it compensates nicely for the UUAD of Christmas/NY.

Thanks Sunday for summarizing your results. I was wondering if changing up the hack would affect weight loss. I think I will stick to the original potato diet for a fee days and then slip back into my regular JUDDD rotations when I am finished. Hopefully back to maintenance JUDDD for my mini-vacation.

It is also such a cost effective plan. I mean what could be cheaper than taters and more taters? I tater soup also. I believe Adi makes hers with gluc, so it will go further. I just add a cup of chicken broth and it is like heaven. In fact, it is a wonderful dd dinner.

Sunday I never thought to use fat free creamer. I have been drinking it black or waiting 4 hours to eat

I use Land of Lakes ff creamer and it has been my "go to" when I need to stay low fat. Only 20 cals in 2 tbsp! It seems to be just the ticket.

I am only doing the tater thing on DD's. Still can't cut a whole UD with just taters. Seems to really distress my digestive system and not in a good way.

I have coofee with HWC and one egg for breakfast, then a cold boiled tater for lunch if hungry and faux cream of potato soup for dinner. Not having losses but am finding it pretty easy to stick to this for my DD's so I can maintain which is my ultimate goal anyway.

I am starting another potato hack Sunday, probably 5 days, attempting to undo the holiday damages. I bought 5 pounds red, 5 pounds yellow, both of which I will use boiled and cold with malt vinegar, and 5 pounds of the crinkle fries which I see some of you have used once a day for variation even though it contains some fat. I may or may not use protein 4 hours from potatoes on what would be UD.

I really love this hack. I am now going towards an inflamation free diet (aka Virgin Diet) trying to do up and down days with that. I think I might have overdone the nightshades with the 14 day PDD hack (I was pushing to get weight off for a particular reason) since I had a long spell of gastric upset AFTER the diet. I'm still not sure that was it, but I'm doing probiotics and am using rice (white mostly) as my protein starch as I start back into some form of this method.

I'm going to try making sure I peel the potatos when I do this again. I LOVE bone broth with the boiled yukons, or really any type of potato. I also made a great up day potato oven roast(yukon and blue potatos) with rosemary, onion, brussel sprouts, and olive oil on New Year's. So, I'm not stopping the PDD, just being a bit more selective for my tummy's sake.

I lost about 15 lbs. It isn't something I'd recommend that anyone do. A week at a time is plenty for a pure potato hack.

That is amazing. As you say, perhaps not to be recommended but you had a reason, and it worked for you. I don't think I could do it, but what an incredible tool this is.

Hope your gastric issues are all better now.

Su11, can I ask why you wouldn't recommend unless it is strictly because of gastric issues?

I plan on doing it for two weeks and trying not to eat the peels. I am only starting day five today but so far no problems in that regard. Although I haven't noticed a drop in weight yet.

I hope you are feeling better and have recovered by now.

I have had a hard time thinking about re-starting this. I think because I stayed on the one food for two weeks, I triggered a bit of a food intolerance. I had some hash browns yesterday and I could tell my body is struggling. I don't think this would have happened with just one week. So, I'm going to alternate with rice for the starch and see how that goes.

I am doing a lot better with my GI issues. The probiotics and moving to a very low inflamation diet is helping a lot.

Su11, that sounds very worrying and must be quite scary for you. I do hope you feel better soon.

As I mentioned I am on my fifth day and have been planning on doing it for two weeks but after reading about your experience I am now having second thoughts. Please let us know how you get on.

I just did the Hack for 3 days, it may be a mental thing, but I believe it stopped the "Holiday eating" for me. I had it in my mind that I could keep eating all these "treats"... but, just doing potatoes for the 3 days has stopped the cravings and helped get me back in DIET MODE!!
Also, I dropped like 3 lbs!!
