ouizoid-looks like you've started a potato movement
Maybe we should start a thread of those of us doing this? I'm starting tomorrow, a DD, and plan on doing this all my DDs this week to see what happens. My UDs this week may also include some potatoes, but probably with fat (like bacon). I also will be eating out twice this week (UDs), so it will be interesting to see how this all plays out!eta: up to page 38 on the first MDA thread lol! This all sounds interesting--potatoes are one of my most favorite foods! I can eat baked potatoes and vinegar every day.
I'm going to keep tabs on this experiment for a week or so--I just re-started JUDDD with shake DD's, so I want to give that a chance first. |

Will do. I've just recently adopted the no-more-than-72g-carbs per day of Life Without Bread (my usual has been VLC out of necessity on DD, and pretty much no more than 120g on up day, so I'm trying to lower that a bit) so I will have to see how many potatoes on a down day I can get for 72 carbs--I believe 3 medium potatoes. But I will keep you posted! I had gestational diabetes (8 years ago) so I keep tabs on my blood sugar from time to time.

I read all the Free the Animal posts as well--and the zillions of comments on the posts--which led me back to MDA and the 3 lonnnnng threads there. It worked extremely well for a whole lot of people--and some people not so much, tho I think they screwed with the parameters (no fat) or didnt give it long enough.
All I can tell you so far is that 3 days of taters have gotten me to below my preThanksgiving weight, That taters are extremely satisfying--esp. by the 3rd day, and that it makes low calories relatively painless, so that even if this is a CICO deal, it is a fully satisfying way to do it. I have some curry flavoured salsas from WF that are just delicious and almost no fat that have been super yummy on my taters. There are any number or preps for them so the boredom factor is not bad. I can see that by the end of the week I am gonna be very very ready for anything other than taters, lol--but for now, not bad at all--not hard at all, in fact, something about a single food seems to eliminate all the food noise in my head. I'm not thinking about what I am gonna eat when i eat, cause it is just taters, LOL. I know single food diets are obnoxious, but I am also interested by the many claims on MDA that doing this seems to improve insulin signaling, and that it may be another way to heal a broken metabolism, and boy is mine broken. |

Library girl--try it and see--The Primal Potato Hack is about no fat and no protein and no nonstarchy carbs, so I don't know what qualifies! I've used broth and vinegar and really like that.
This is all a grand experiment. I know over at MDA they are all natural so fat free dairy is frowned upon, but here at JUDDD, anything goes! |

If you were to have 2 tbs that should be 23 cals with a tad over 5 carbs. Thus the reason PJ said to use ketsup sparingly. |

LG--
I put a bag of yukon golds in the crockpot and covered in beef broth and cooked til easily pierced. Keep those in the fridge and take a container with about 4 small taters to the office along with some curry salsa. yum. Cold taters also seem more filling than warm (cold resistant starch i think). Couple of taters and no hunger for hours. |

Sounds good! I might do that tonight to get ready for DD tomoz!
How about a piece of bacon in the crockpot for flavor? I have some large russets left over from Tday, and no idea how to gauge calories... |

Best purchase you can make. I rarely cook and I still use mine every. single. day. You don't need an expensive one either. Mine was middle of the road, around $20.00, and is digital, with measurements in grams and ounces. You can't accurately track your calories without one, unless you're eating all pre-packaged foods.

So tonight for my DD dinner I boiled a large potato. I cut up the tops of a green onion. Then put in a bowl together with a little onion powder, salt and pepper. YUM!!!!
Next DD I think I will have a large potato with some cabbage. I already was thinking of what I can make for DD potatoes!!! Like I said I will try for a week of DD's only and see what happens. Thank you for telling us about this ouizoid!!!! If I can drop the 10lbs I gained on my JUDDD break that would be awesome!!!!

So glad you like! Like I said, my problem is keeping my calories high enough on UD's while just eating potatoes. I may just skip JUDDD and just do a regular potato fast, without worrying about the calories. I figure a week won't hurt me.
One of the posts I read over at MDA had information about a Satiety Scale, and evidently potatoes are at the very top of that scale. I can attest to that. Every once in awhile I feel a little hungry--but if I am not able to eat at the moment, it passes--and then my appetite seems to just evaporate. This never ever happens to me. |

I'm already thinking *potato salad*
![]() Should be able to add chopped celery and onion and sugar-free pickle relish, some yellow mustard and a bit of Kraft fat-free Miracle Whip. Or a German style salad with a tiny bit of chipped bacon and hot vinegar dressing. |
