 No sales for me, either. Earlier this month I attended a "buy local" fair downtown with booths from all the small, locally-owned businesses. Big Hit, I must say, and I discovered a fun candy maker in town, who gives tours. We ladies have that on our list. |

Oh, Nancy, my daily paper is SO THICK today!
 I've never seen it this thick I don't believe! Everyone wantss our shopping dollars tomorrow, don't they? LOL! I may look at some online specials for the day, that's about it. And the concept of the next day, Saturday, being Small Business Saturday, to shop at small local places, is interesting to me.Enjoying the televised parade right now, a pleasant activity. Lots of preparations. Happy Thanksgiving to All and to All a Good DD to make up for any indiscretions! |

Happy Thanksgiving my beautiful ladies!
 I did all of my xmas shopping online last year...it was a beautiful thing! This year I've done half online, the rest I gotta go out  Will go out tonight to try and grab some blu-rays I want for dirt cheap..... The fun part is watching everyone climb over eachother to get to the displays  My kiddos are older so no need to go all "Jingle all the way" in the crowds for the hottest new tosy  We're sittin at 59 right now with a high of 80...

Happy turkey day all. Thankful for good health, good family and friends. Baking and cooking frenzy. Last night I made "better than sex chocolate caramel crunch cake" lol - I'll let you know after I taste it tonight if it lives up to its reputation. Today made choc chip pecan pie bars and next is my famous mushroom stuffing. Did my treadmill time this morning so I have a bit less guilt indulging later.

I have to confess...
My son (18) and I decided not to do anything about Thanksgiving this year! The idea of going food shopping and making a big special meal just seemed exhausting. We eat every day, and we're thankful everyday...  Also, I grew up vegetarian and lived in a couple of countries that don't celebrate Thanksgiving...I just don't feel sentimental or nostalgic about this holiday. I'm diabetic now, and mashed potatoes/stuffing/pie etc are no-nos...yes, there are substitutes, but I can't be bothered...especially since my tiny horrible kitchen doesn't have an oven!!! My son has been vegetarian since age 12...my family lives thousands of miles away, so it's just him & me--and sometimes his paternal grandfather, but he wasn't feeling excited about Thanksgiving either, so he said he didn't mind if we skipped it. We'll get together for Christmas. We're not lonely or anything...we can go over to my neighbor's, but I don't want to deal with her huge family and at least 8 boys stampeding the food table. I want to go over later...having a drink and nibbling on leftovers when everyone's chilled out seems much more appealing. But wishing you all a very happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your families!

Just my hubby and girls today. DS spending day with girlfriends family. Steak, pizza and waffles. I let them each pick something for the menu. They don't really like turkey. I chose pecan pie and I'll have a little turkey at my moms tomorrow. Putting up the Christmas tree. I love this time of year! |

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!
Our dinner went well. It was just hubby, the kids and me. We spent it at home by ourselves this year! We had our dinner at 1pm. Then I think I was napping my 2pm lol! I was up at 4:30am starting to cook, so I was tired! After the second round of meals (which I just shouldnt of done, did great the first round and wasnt hungry for the second, but you know you have to because its thanksgiving lol!!), we put up our xmas tree and decorations. Nope, no sales (or scales lol!!) tomorrow. I am an online shopper and I got the same deals today as if I would of went to the store to get them!!! Kids are older and into the electronics now, so walmart.com and ebates.com was my thing today!! Well I am gonna have a cup of coffee, a small sliver of pumpkin pie with half a tub of whip cream and prepare for a very needed DD tomorrow!!! Talk to you all soon!! Edit to add: I almost forgot, I was at work the other day listening to the radio and they were doing a "friends" question thing. You won different seasons of the show on DVD. Well I called in and won Season 10. Then they enter your name into a grand prize drawing..........well..........I won the grand prize of all 10 seasons, gag reel, and behind the scenes on Blu-ray. Almost 300 bucks it is worth........so excited......going to go lay in bed and recover from all the food and stuff watching some of it!!!!!

My neighbor said they were going to eat around 3, so I stopped by at 1 and figured I'd see if they needed any help, have a cup of coffee, go home for a couple hours and come back later...well, she had everything almost ready, one guest brought FOUR bottles of wine and was opening them right when I got there....here it is 9:40pm and I'm just getting home!!!
It was an absolutely GORGEOUS day here, so we were outside almost the whole time...fired up the chiminea when it got dark...it was a lot less hectic than I thought it would be--her house is small, 17 people in the family (plus 4 guests today) but only room for 6-8 at the table so it's crazy when it's cold or raining!!! I hope everyone had a joyful, yummy day! |

I'm grateful I found you! We're starting to join in the "black friday" up here in Canada, even though our thanksgiving day was in October That said, I can take advantage of sales, mostly online; I will NOT go into a mall between now and Christmas. A Winners (TJMaxx type) store yes, Homesense (TJMaxx for housewears) yes, and online. This year, I'll do some "last minute" pre-planned shopping in CA when I'm there in December. I'm also online shopping and trying to send it to my office in CA so I can avoid shipping and duty, and bring it all in under my 1 week travel exemption FWIW-- vera bradley is having a good sale online, and is giving away a free tote with 100$ purchase in stores (only), if any of you like those bags. S.
