Large frame here ... I have a 7 inch wrist too, and I'm only 5'3"! I don't really know if my goal of 135 is too low or not ... it's a few pounds more than the lower end of my range. I weighed 135 for a few months in college after a crazy-intense diet & exercise regimen I put myself on ... I was muscular and at that weight I looked in no way skinny. Just normal. I'm 26 years older now though! The Dukan site suggests that 150ish would be more realistic for me to achieve/maintain, but they don't know about JUDDD! I guess I'll know when I get there ... or my body on JUDDD will decide for me.

So of course I had to measure too My wrists are 6 3/4 so that puts me in the large frame category and at a weight range of 137-155 pounds at 5'5 height. I highly doubt I will ever go as low as 137 though, my body took such a bad beating losing 95 pounds, I don't think it will recover for years, if at all. I used to wear a size 20 pants and now a year later at 165/166ish I wear a size 8 and even some 6es, so I lost most of my weight/inches on the bottom, my thighs look like gigantic prunes!!! So with that being said, I probably won't obsess over losing so much anymore, but to try and tone this body some so it won't look so deflated

Erica- I could have written that post myself. My thighs look like they belong on a 95 year old woman- not pretty I don't know where to begin with toning. I tried light free weights for my "bingo wings" but I saw no improvement. In fact they were looking worse as I lost

Uh oh. I suppose that will happen to me too if I lose enough. Would you suggest starting a weight-lifting program now, Carly and Erika, for someone just beginning to lose who wants to lose 60+ lbs (at age 48)?

I was on a weight-loss site about 12 years ago and there was a woman who had lost over 100 lbs who was a member, who said she had absolutely no sagging skin. She also exercised obsessively from the beginning...started with walking, moved to running and lifting weights...she ran a couple of marathons while I was a member. Seems to suggest that exercise makes all the difference. That being said, it would take a huge shift in my normal activities to start a significant exercise program...ugh, why can't it be easy?

Carly, you have NO idea how much this brings me down. I am sooo happy to have lost all this weight at my age but I am so embarrassed about my thighs, like you said, they look like they belong to an 95 year old woman. We went to the beach several times this summer and I was happy to wear a bathingsuit, for the first time in over 20 years!, but had a wrap around thingy on all day because of the shriveled thighs Then my DD breast are deflated too, but at least I can perk those up with a good bra.
I will have to do some serious research about how to tone this saggy skin.

Librarygirl, If I could do it all over again I would definately look into something from the start, back in December when I first started losing the weight I didn't even think about saggy skin, I was obsessed with dropping the pounds, lost 60 pounds in under 4 month and by the time I realized my thighs were hanging it was too late!

I have the most of my excess weight in my thighs and butt. I can just imagine the results of 60 lbs off. If I were you, I would try to speak to a personal trainer at a gym and see what he/she suggests. You should be able to get free advice. I have access to a gym/gyms and an indoor pool at my work, but it is also a university and working out with 18 yo's might be a bit intimidating! Let's face it, VERY intimidating, lol.

ditto- right down to the use to be DD girls. Now almost down to a C. DW asked "What happened?" She was sweet about it, but serious none the less. I think exercise from day 1, if your capable would be good.

Dang, down to a C? Mine went from a 46DD to a 36DD, cup size stayed the same but they are not as round anymore, they are more, emmm, LONGER, trying to make fun of it but it really is not funny, my mister used to say I have the boobies of an 18 year old, and now, well, I just hide them...but I doubt he has noticed that they have changed, he is more concerned about my butt, or whats left of it

I am sure that the DW notices how much your body changes a lot sooner then the men do, us women are a lot keener when it comes to things like this! I also think that they will get used to it and love us just the same! Or ELSE!!!

Yup- went from 42 DD to 36 D, but really soon to be C. Yup- longer
DW is just happy for me since I am thrilled that I have lost weight, but she understands that I'm really frustrated about all the wrinkly skin.

I don't think I'd have the guts to do that, I have to find something that I can do on my own, hidden from other eyes, preferably in my dark basement LOL. I know there has got to be something I can do so I can brave the beach next year WITHOUT a bedsheet wrapped around me

I've mentioned in other threads that I will be considering plastic surgery for my upper arms and thighs when I arrive at goal. I'm not sure that exercising 20 hours a day for half a year would help enough and I'm limited with my spine.

I was considering that too, may be have a nip and tuck here and there...I have a friend on my calorie tracker (I think I'm not allowed to say the name on here) who had some work done earlier this year, I think boobie job and tummy tuck, 17.000 dollars , I don't think I have that kind of pocket change

I had the boob job when I was small, lol...they got bigger as I got bigger and have gone down some, but won't go past a certain size (Cish). The more I think about it, the more I know I'm going to have to do some weight training. Carly, from what I understand, 30 min three times a week with weights is enough to tone and strengthen...it's cardio that requires so much time and really won't achieve results like strength training.

You are right about the cardio, it does not do a darn thing for me either and I walk at least 5 times a week since December of last year, even added my gazelle and it didn't do anything either but stall my losses.
I think I need to start lifting weights, and find me something that really works my legs, does it ever end

The good thing about skin is that you're getting new skin all the time! (I'm skin brushing to encourage turnover). I've seen pictures of loose skin that time improved a lot, in addition to toning.

Anyone heard of Viora refit? It looks like an interesting non-invasive option... I don't know how effective it is really (or how expensive), but the pictures you can google show some really noticeable improvement?

You can use your own weight to do squats and lunges to strengthen and tone your legs and butt. When it gets easier you can add a weight bar...then weights. Yay, doesn't that sound like so much fun?!

I would love to be able to do some good cardio and weights, but my spine is fragile and my pain is significant, but I wouldn't let that stop me. Doing more damage... that stops me. I'm having an "exploratory procedure" on 12/5 to see why the pain is increasing and what- if anything needs to be done. In light of that I really shouldn't care about loose skin, but...

I had measured my wrist before and it indicated I was large framed (which surprises me, as I feel like my frame is small for my height) so I measured again today and . . . still large framed. Then I googled the chart reddarin recommended, and according to that chart, with my frame and height, my ideal weight should be 149 - 170. This sounds right to me, as I've been below 150 and was too thin, and I feel like I'd be fine where I am or with just 5 - 15 more pounds off. At 160, I'd be right smack dab in the middle of that chart's version of my ideal weight. I think I like that particular chart the best.

Anyone else surprised by their actual frame size/ideal weight compared to their personal body image?
I'm the same height as you (5'9") and have a 6.75" wrist. Oh, and they're not fatty by any means! I'm definantly a large boned girl who is also overweight! So I also fall into the 149-170 category. My goal is 160, though at 170 I look pretty good. I remember back in my late teens trying soooo hard to get to 140 and I just couldn't do it!

I've run the gamut - from 106 pounds when I was 18 (way too thin) to 299 the day I had my daughter.

Hey Erica, Carly, Library, etc. You mention wanting to do something in the privacy of your home that tones.
We have the Callanetics thread, which is fun and great.
I'll mention Kundalini yoga DVDs, which range from ultra easy to ultra challenging. They feel fantastic energetically and are fun, fun, fun. I came upon them when I was writing a blog for Yoga Journal and was smitten. Ravi and Ana.
Anyway, I've had a couple of years of solo joy in my basement with them.

That last sentence in any other paragraph...

Joy, do you feel like it's kept you from having excess sagging? Would these exercises be considered cardio or resistance training?

my experience as a big loser (90 lbs) and avid exerciser through out (the last 9 years) (weights, running -- up to a marathon 5 yrs ago, spin, etc) = you can tone the muscles, for sure, but the excess skin is on top of the firmer muscles, and therefore, some wrinkling, chicken wattling on arms, legs, back, tummy, boobs, chin seems inevitable... and kind of a bummer

that being said, exercise keeps me sane and that helps me not commit crimes, and also keep emotional eating less rampant.

lol at the longer boobs.... National Geographic here I come

a good bra does help. I just wear capris, not short shorts. don't worry too much re arms and back, as for me, they are not as if I had never been fat, but not too bad. as noted in the plastic surgery thread, I did have about 8-10 inches of skin removed from my tummy, as it was an apron, and for me at the level of "deformity" vs. vanity. It did cost a lot... and it was worth it for me. If money and risk were no object, I would have a facelift, boob lift, leg lift... but it's not in the cards. My BF adores me as is, and he is the only one who sees me in my suit

Library, no idea whether or not it affects saggy skin. It's a bit of cardio, bit of strength, so will certainly support skin better.

Thanks Joy. I will definitely check it out. I soooo hope I can avoid overly excess sagging.

Anyone heard of Viora refit? It looks like an interesting non-invasive option... I don't know how effective it is really (or how expensive), but the pictures you can google show some really noticeable improvement?
I just looked at the pictures that came up when I googled it, looks like some pretty impressive results there! Thanks for sharing Christina! I will do some more research on it this weekend!
