I spent all afternoon In ER

I thought something was wrong with my heart. My heart is racing, get dizzy waking up. Long story short I think I am on high anxiety. My husband lost his job six months ago, Christmas is coming and money is tight so I think it has gotten to me. Here last week or so I read a thread where someone was talking about their heart racing on DD's and they ate protein and I cant find it for the life of me. Can someone point me in the right direction? At least now I think I can pinpoint why I might not be losing as well as I should, high stress. I didnt even realize how much how much things were getting to me. I wish I was a person who could just let things roll off me and be on my happy way. At least now I have peace of mind.

Debbie
I'm so sorry about the stress. I've had that kind too! Not fun.
(and yes, stress will definitely mess with the scale).

Glad you are ok! You know, DDs will sometimes make people feel a bit wired. Add that to stress, and maybe it wasn't agreeing with you.

I'm sorry I don't have the link for you, but sending hugs.

Debbie!

I did an internet search on 'can food fight stress' and found several interesting articles. Summarized they say 'eat a balanced diet with lots of antioxidants'. Dark chocolate, berries, and raw nuts, foods with lots of magnesium like spinach, fish high in omega 3s like salmon were mentioned frequently.

Why is healthy eating also expensive eating?

I swear by chamomile tea when the pressure gets too much. The one with honey and vanilla is nice.
I hope things soon look easier.

I am sorry Debbie. I have battled high anxiety in the past and one more suggestion that helps is walking. If you can even get in a brisk 15 minute walk once or twice per day, it could be the very thing that helps relieve. My fav time to meditate and pray.

Taken from...

Psychologists studying how exercise relieves anxiety and depression suggest that a 10-minute walk may be just as good as a 45-minute workout. Some studies show that exercise can work quickly to elevate depressed mood in many people. Although the effects may be temporary, they demonstrate that a brisk walk or other simple activity can deliver several hours of relief, similar to taking an aspirin for a headache.

I have taken valerian root at various times for anxiety. Some people take it only at bedtime because it makes them sleepy, but for me it just sort of shuts off or lessens the anxiety. It might be worth looking into. Beware though, the capsules smell like dirty feet!

Oh how scary, Debbie! I'm so sorry you were feeling like that, and are undergoing so much stress. You're right, it may be why you're not losing. Your body may be hanging onto every fat cell for "defense". I hope you can find some solace and comfort and allow yourself to relax.

I am having internet connection problems so hopefully will not lose this post as the last time.

I did have some problems a couple weeks ago as kettleboy said. One of the symptoms was heart irregularity. I had been ignoring what I already knew about my body and had gone way overboard with the freedom of JUDDDing. I know I am sensitive to wheat/dairy/sugar. Why did I think the JUDDD magic would erase that? Plus, my compulsive nature had me obsessing with the planning and spending hours every day reading everything here. I can easily get to the point of anxiety attacks but have not had one that felt like a heart attack in a few years and fortunately did not get that far this time either. So having had a wake up call, this is what I did.

Caffeine. A great drug in moderation. Coffee on DDs was way too high. I eliminated it for a week (yes there were mild headaches) then slowly reintroduced it in a reasonable amount. I am now drinking ˝ caf in the a.m. (2c limit). Decaf in the afternoon. The heart irregularity stopped after a day or so off coffee and have not returned.

Wheat/Dairy/Sugar – Gone. My body doesn’t like these things.

Whole, anti-inflammatory foods only for three days. Now, most the time.

Anti-inflammatory spice dose (turmeric/ginger) daily to counteract any inflammation caused by our grocery industry practices. I do not have access to free range meats. Not willing to go Veg yet.

All of my symptoms are gone except, I am still OC and have to walk away from the computer sometimes. I turned off the macronutrients in my calculator and only track calories now so I don’t obsess about getting the exact perfect percentage of each nutrient. I have not been on the scales in several days. I am spending less time here.

Hope there is something here you can use. We are all different and the bottom line is know yourself and be true to your individual needs.

Dawn, I also use Valarian root on occasion and it does help but does make me sleepy so I reserve it for bedtime. I use GABA during the day if needed.

Gaba is in the Theanine Serene that works so well for me and my son. It is definitely a relief assist.

Take care of yourself! Anxiety is nothing to play around with.

I take the theanine serene with relora every morning along with my 5-htp, pray and meditate (don't take that as flaky, it really does calm the body with the anxious mind) and try to focus on being peaceful in my own skin. I also do hemp protein on down days to make sure I get my protein in and to relieve the focus on eating. Some physical activity, especially getting outside makes a big difference to emotion and body stress. Harder this time of year, but worth a few minutes of your time. I avoid caffeine, coffee makes my body sick, and mostly just drink plain hot water. As a tea-aholic this was a challenging change in my life, but now I save a pot of tea for only the weekend, and not every day. Sometimes those stress responses are a way for our bodies to tell us we need a change in our habits.

Yet another thing to thank IF/JUDDDD for again. Peacefulness about food.

I think dieting does increase the obsessive compulsive urge. The only time I scared myself dieting was on a low cal diet when I was 21 and already thin. I spent hours calculating my calories and thought everyone was fat. I was nudging anorexia.

Then I experienced my first binge. The hunger scared me into being more sensible.

I was also thinking Thyroid, if I remember correctly you said you were taking Armour? If so, I too felt wired and way over stimulated on Armour (but still felt hypo), and I have this theory that JUDDDing (fasting) may contribute to decreasing our body's thyroid requirements?
