You ladies sure make me feel great! I have an honest question, though. I'm looking at those pictures, and I think my arms are looking a little scrawny. I have a thigh gap (can't see it in the pictures, but it's really there!), and my face and neck are starting to look a bit older than I like. It probably doesn't help that I'm letting my grey grow out either.

Anyway, I went back and looked at my stats. On September 22 (the date my last avatar picture was taken), I was 187.8 pounds. This morning, when the new pictures were taken, I was 177.4 pounds. That's only around 10 pounds difference, but I see a lot of difference in my pictures. My original goal was 175, but I lowered it to 160 because of the extra I'm still carrying around my waist and thighs.

I'm beginning to wonder if I should stick with my original goal of 175 and then work on toning for a while and see what that does to my tummy/thighs. I've just started jogging (sort-of), and that may still cause me to lose a little, but maybe 160 is too low for me at my age and height? Honest opinions are welcomed and requested.

Here's my last avatar picture for comparison. What say the JUDDD BUDDDs?

Dawn, both gorgeous.
If scrawny arms aren't your thing (I'd take'em), upper arm strengthening is easy, fun, and not time consuming. That might give you a bit of extra mass. It's a lovely way to create balance.
Re: the age thing, I don't see it. Holy god, woman, you look absolutely fantastic.
Re: the lower goal, I don't know. Your face looks perfect. If exercise looks like fun, you could do one of your maintenance breaks (during which you seem to lose anyway) and focus on some fun form of fitness. (There is something fun for everyone, I swear.)
I feel like we're doing a science experiment here or something.
He great is it that you're in a position to ask these questions?

What happened to the days when a thigh gap was ideal; three diamonds....one between the pelvis and knees, one btw the knees and calves, one btw the calves and ankles.

As far as looking older goes; fat fills out and stretches the skin. When the fat is gone, the skin needs a chance to adjust but depending on age, may never be what we'd like.

Arms can be toned. Even wall push ups are a good start.

I think you look great in both pictures. Maybe it's the glasses that is throwing you. I think I look younger when I take my glasses off, but that's only to sleep and take pictures so most others don't ever see what you ladies see in my avi. I liked Kristen's suggestion about the fitness break/ maintenance. I mean you do lose every time you go into maintenance, but maybe that is worth a try.

Dawn, these photos are terrific and you are looking super. You look slender, confident & fun. How utterly inspiring! (I always thought there'd be some aura of fatness hanging around even when the weight was lost- you have shown me the light... Slim, sexy, gorgeous )

The 10lbs do make a huge difference, btw. I can see why you are wondering about the effects of another 10. What a lovely thing to be grappling with!

Didn't get online yesterday so I am just seeing these gorgeous shots Dawn. You look a Million $$$$.

You have an interesting point there about those last 10lbs and not one that is easy to answer.

Your arms do not look scrawny, that is how arms are meant to look, you lucky girl. Toning will turn them into beautiful sculpted arms, but as they are they are still great.

As for your goal weight, I went down to 121/122 for a little while early this year, but the general consensus here at home, (DH, lol) was that I look better just a few pounds heavier than that.

I think you look great, but why not just play with it for a while? You are the queen of maintenance and the exercise you have incorporated will change your shape too.

Thank you for your input! I think I'm just going to play it by ear and keep going until I don't want to anymore. It's so hard to be objective about such things. I'm getting close enough though, where I think I may relax the reigns a little bit and see how that goes.

If I saw that picture with no other information, I would think that pretty, skinny lady has not even one pound to lose. On the other hand, if there are areas not visible in the photo that you still want to reduce, probably any future weight loss would likely come from there, right? Exercise for toning is a fabulous idea also. Your idea of easing up a bit -- maybe doing your maintain/lose thing after you get to 175 -- sounds great, and I think you'll know when it's time to call goal. Well done, my friend! I'm so happy for you that you are so close to goal, whatever it may be.

p.s. Your arms look great to me!
