bangs head on keyboard....

I am so frustrated and its my own fault. I have fallen back into my old ways. I can go all day with no food. Then I come home from work eat dinner, lunch and breakfast all at once. I am still running but its not helping the overload of calories. The last month has been like this. What happened to my willpower. I was at a point of fighting to get in my calories on UD's. Now every DD is an UD and every UD is an "omg-I-just-quit-counting-day".

I havent realized how bad its gotten until I outgrown a few new jeans. Ugghh. I dont want to go back to what I was. I was 170 as of this am. But its like its all squichy gross fat that is blobbing over top my clothes. Shirts that fit fine a month ago is tight. And I just keep thinking........the holiday season offically starts next thursday....really once thanksgiving is here its a butt-load of sweets, and over eating, and over drinking and over everything!!

I really need to get my rear in gear before I end up back over 200lbs at the first of the year. I am going to give myself this weekend and come monday whether its JUDDD, LC, or starvation.....I have to do a good start to this all again.

I told myself I will buy salad and yogurt this weekend when I go out and about, so no excuses! I will have to sit and re-think all this. I cant go back to what and where I was. I just cant!

We all need to think of a holiday challenge to keep ourselves in check for the next 6 weeks of everything coming at us!

Tanya: Big hugs!

Don't beat yourself up. If you need more calories because of the running, maybe the Dukan WOE would be a good start because you can eat all you want of lean protein and fat free dairy. Every other day you add in unlimited non-starchy vegetables.

Have you read his book?

His plan works doubly good if you couple it with JUDD. I don't do it very often any more, but when I really feel like I want to knock off some pounds really, really quick that's what I do.

The lean protein really helps me to not get hungry.

Drinking lots of green tea helps too. It seems to stave off hunger.

Write down some ideas. Take some time (I know you are busy, but taking time for YOU is important) to get motivated by reading threads that have encouragement and motivation.

Maybe you should not go all day without eating. Try having a salad with ACV and EVOO at lunch and then make a big pot of home made veggie soup in your crock pot and have as much as you can stuff yourself with when you walk in the door, first thing, at the end of the day.

Put your list of ideas like "green tea" "lots of protein" "veggie soup" on the fridge so you can look at it and not forget.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get that mo-jo back, Hon!!

I agree with Yam. Love the idea of a salad at lunch and a big old pot of soup ready for you when you get home.

Ok, deep breaths

I have these days, I know you feel dissappointed in yourself. It only takes a day to turn things around, change you mindset, ect..

What is it that makes you give up on a DD after doing so well all day? Have you planned out that DD dinner? Planning definantly helps, but I go alot of UD's where if go off any plans I made! You are not alone.

If you are honestly just so hungry on a DD evening, Try having a big plate of salad with loads of tomatoes, cucumbers, celery, crunch. Low cal and heaps of munch. It takes me a good 15 min at least to get through a huge salad. Or a big bowl of vegetable soup. Make food that takes a while to eat, so your stomach feels full.

Also, are there trigger foods you may have lying around? I stay right away from certain carbs (bread, apples...)on DD as I find they promote severe hunger. Eggs I find fill me longer as does tuna in oil. You may need to experiment a little.

As I said it only takes a day to turn it around. Go shopping, load up on lots of healthy low cal foods, plan your day, and try your best to stick to it. I'm sorry it has been so hard for you, but don't beat yourself up because that does you no good at all. Dust yourself off and start again tomorrow. We all hit speedbumps, just keep going

you can do it! We are all here to help!

well its not hunger. Its stress. Worrying about this and that, then stuffing my face with whatever I find going through the cabinets.

I figured already if I get my cups of yogurt, I will eat only one. It fills the sweet tooth and the cost keeps me at one. Thats why I dont buy the big containers, just the little ones. I figured I will put the salads in little bowls so its a grab and eat, not a "well I want a salad but I would have to make it and the snack cake is just open and eat" type thing.

I have to be very on top of having things ready for me, I do get lazy and start grabbing things. I also do better when I write in my journal all the foods I eat through the day. But I am so crazy busy that the best intentions go by the way side by the end of the day.

I got used to having the little things that I could eat like soups and salads and things like that on hand. But when money got tight I didnt buy them as often. And when I did buy them, hubby and the kids got to it before me. So I got back into not taking a lunch to work because that money was best spent else where, but then like I said I come home and get more stressed and eat......its such a horrible cycle....that the thing is I broke it before...I just need to pull my pants up and do it again!

I am just frustrated with all parts of my life at the moment. The holidays are making it worse. But I know that it will all work out eventually. It always has. But I need to stop the stress eating, first and for most!

I am serious thought, I was thinking today at work, maybe a holiday JUDDD challenge of some sort. Most of us will fall victim at some point with holiday eating!

Do you think skipping breakfast & lunch is part of the problem? Maybe you need to eat so that you don't go crazy later. Can you stash some foods in your car or at work so that hubby & kids don't get to them?

I'm thinking of jerky & nuts (or sunflower seeds, which are lower in calories & much, much cheaper than almonds, cashews, etc). Jerky *can* be expensive, but some brands are quite affordable. I get the Jack Link's Beef Steak, 1 oz for $1 at WalMart, and it's pretty moist & easy to chew compared to other kinds. It's a perfect snack, even enough for a meal sometimes. I don't eat granola bars, protein bars, etc (too expensive, too much sugar, don't fill me up anyway), so I *always* keep packages of jerky in my purse and car. They have 2oz packages, also--23g protein!

If you boiled a bunch of eggs for yourself, would anybody get into those? I know they can get tiresome, but they are so convenient! And if one or two eggs keep you from eating 7,000 calories later...

Sorry you have been stressed out, but I'm glad you checked in!

I second PJ's protein in the morning suggestion. Best advice I ever got, to try it. It doesn't work for some people, but for me, really, I couldn't care less if I ate later if I can eat 30 grams of protein (protein in my coffee, really!) for breakfast. I pretty much always skip lunch, too busy to eat anyway, and a sensible dinner is possible. (((HUGS))) I know money problems do make us change what we do especially when we're moms. Everyone comes before us. But if we don't take care of ourselves, we can't help anyone else. Tanya, I'm sorry you're feeling such frustration right now. It can be a tough time of the year, especially when things aren't going exactly like you want them to. I think the suggestions of big salads and soup waiting for you at home are great. You could make a great big crock pot, and then package up and refrigerate or freeze portions that are ready to grab and heat or nuke.

What kind of holiday challenger were you thinking about? What would help you?

It sounds like you've lost a fair amount of weight...do you think that your body might simply be rebelling against that? The mind and body are very connected, and what you are seeing as a stress reaction or a lack of willpower may just be (or also be) your body's way of getting you to eat more food.

thanks for the support everyone!!!!

I think I will go and buy things for myself that my family hates! I love lemon yogurt, they dont. So I will buy that for me. I also will look for those lower calorie breakfast bars and keep in my backpack, that I take to work. I was getting ready for bed last night and it came to me about the odd tastes I have compared to everyone else in the family. I am sure if I buy that kind of stuff they wont touch it! I feel bad to seem like I am hoarding food, but I gotta do what I have to do I guess.

I also got to wondering, if the clock change didnt have something to do with this sudden have to eat everything in sight thing..... I really hate coming home in the dark. It feels like instant bedtime! This hunger thing started right about then when I think back. I didnt start JUDDD in the spring til after clock changed then, so I cant compare. I know from past, whether I was dieting or not, that it seemed when clocks changed before I always did an instant 10-15lb gain in the fall that would hang on til spring. That and the sudden I am not doing things I did before because its winter thing. Like I said to dark when I get home. I run my mile in the dark then hibernate on the couch the rest of the night, compared to walk around the yard, pulling a weed or two, picking up this or that....etc.....mix that all together and you get frustrations!

I love how you all make me think! I love how I have so much support to work through this!

You can do this!!!!!!! No matter how large the family, you must consider yourself as well. They will eat, but you should too. Putting your health first only benefits everyone in the long run anyway.

Tanya, I have a touch or more of seasonal affective disorder, so I am very sensative to the shorter, darker, days. I feel somewhat more energetic this year, but not as great as before the clocks changed. I have not been walking every night like I was in the summer and it has gotten really cold. I wouldn't under-estimate the time change and maybe speak with your MD about a light box or even a low dose of an anti- depressant. There were years in the past where I needed to utilize both. I have found that the effect is not as profound as when I was younger (this was really bad when I was a teenager and in early mid 20's), but I'm still super aware of the change.

Ok so I went shopping and I got me a few little things. I found snicker granola bars that have 140 calories in them. I grabbed 2 boxes. I also got some cheerios, which I love, and two smaller bowls with lids. One for milk and one for cereal. So on so forth with that stuff. But the big thing I got for myself was from 5 below. I got myself a smaller dry erase board for my fridge. Right on top I labled it Mom's calorie counter. I will put my calories "In your face" right on the fridge! I also decided that my client sleeps most of the time I am at his home, there is no reason I cant turn on the radio in the basement and run in place. Not the same as running outdoors but there is light and no chance of breaking my ankle in an unseen pothole. I also for the first time at Aldi's found sugar free pudding in boxes that you make yourself. So I got a few of those too!

Carly; I never thought about a seasonal disorder, I just figured it was winter laziness.

Thank you everyone! I know I can do this, just got sidetracked. Funny thing today. My other jeans from home were getting tight on me. But when my daughter and I went out and about today. We stopped at a few clothing places for xmas idea's. I grabbed a couple pair of jeans to try on, and those jeans didnt fit, they were too big! So confused with my body! Gain 10lbs, feel flabby all over, some clothes feel tighter others feel loser. They were the normal brand I buy! I love the jeans from Aero or Deb. And it was Deb shop jeans. IDK!!!!

Running in place might get a little boring...if you can afford it and there is a computer/dvd player around, you might buy an exercise DVD from ebay (or even just watch one on YouTube)...you could also record one onto a cassette tape or phone or whatever is available if there isn't a player there...a lot of people here like the Biggest Loser series

About the seasonal disorter ( SAD) the Mayo Clinic has a verry short article on it and
vitamin D. It seems that LARGE doses of vitamin D seem to be as effective as the special
lights that help. But with vitamin D it is one of the few vitamins that can build up in the
body so it's best to get it checked especialy if you are a little low in it the RDA of 400 iu
just arn't going to help. Usualy a Dr. will have you take 5000 iu or more every day for a month or longer and then retest. But again you do need to have it tested and the test isn't verry expensive.

Just be careful what the prescription is for, if you get one. I'm very deficient so my dr. prescribed me a D supplement but it was for D2 and not D3, which I've read in lots of different places is the one you need to take. I threw out the rx and now just take a high strength over the counter D3 supplement

How's it going, Tanya? I also have SAD and have to supplement with D3 year round but need to increase the dosage closer to winter. I also find that I really need to follow my circadian rhythm very closely this time of the year and sleep early/wake up early otherwise things start feeling off pretty fast. Hope things are going well for you.

I got myself back by making a two week deal with myself. Just two weeks.
Down days were strictly hemp protein in water (I think I used half a cup of almond milk twice in two weeks).
Got me refocused on life not food. I didn't lose any weight, in fact I went up a couple pounds and stayed there until I went back to more regular up/down days, but it put my mind back where it needed to be.
Find what will work for you to refocus sweetie, you are worth it!
