Every few weeks I try to keep DDs very high fat, for a fat fast or nutritional ketosis kind of thing. When I do that, I don't count CO or butter if I have it first thing on a DD, and don't have any other calories for several hours afterwards. It hasn't slowed me down, and I've had some nice whooshes after these DDs. But I don't usually have CO on UDs (prefer my HWC). If I did, I would definitely count them, as I'd be consuming them in combination with carbs and/or protein, and wouldn't be in fasting mode that day. Hope this helps!

I don't use an eating window per se. However, on DDs I almost always just have a bedtime snack which is anytime between 9pm on weeknights up till 10:30pm on a Friday or Saturday night. On UDs I usually wait till 1pm and have a light lunch and then a nice dinner and a bedtime snack, but if I wake up hungry on UD morning I'll eat something. JUDDD doesn't care when you eat your calories or what they consist of. Dr. J says a total fast on DDs is optimal, but for most of us that isn't doable every other day. I've done it about 3 times, but I enjoy my bedtime snack.

I ate with family today for our family Thanksgiving. I had a small plate pretty full of veggies and meats, both low and high carb. Then I had about 4 different desserts, bits of each in a bowl... I didn't eat anything before our luncheon, except about three cups of coffee with full fat, full calorie cream, and nothing since...I'm having a hard time evaluating whether I ate enough calories. I'm not too worried about going over.

I am so glad the holiday eating is over
While I'm no longer following a low carb plan anymore, eating all those carbs after not having them in over a month really messed with me Ready to get back to normalcy (until Christmas ugh, lol). |

Melanie, I encourage you to try different DD eating patterns (maybe a week or two at a time): three smallish meals a day, or two, or one in the evening (or at noon or in the morning), or teensy mini-meals every hour, or fat fasting, or fasting ... the more you try, the more you learn about your own metabolism ... and how to tell the difference between 'real' hunger and thirst and its-a-habit hunger .... and the more you understand that, the more prepared you are to lose it and keep it lost!!!!
Over the course of my journey, I had to change eating patterns several times as my body's needs changed. Frankly, recognizing the need and making the changes were part of the fun! I count 1/2 the calories in CO...that seems to work for me.

Carly...I remember Tina (Mykidsteacher) talking about this very same thing happening to her. Can't remember what her thoughts were about it. Wish she would happen to see this and chime in about it. I miss her not posting as often. Fingers crossed that she will see this. Your little bod may just be resting!

I really did not think I would have the most trouble with up days on this plan! However, I did it again. I am stuffed and only at 1200 calories for the day. Ugh! I ate early, too! Made breaky (eggs w/ cheese & toast), splurged and took DD out for lunch (Culvers, had 3 chicken tenders w/ fries) then a skinny peppermint mocha. That's 1200ish. I swear UD's I feel like nothing but a giant bloated stomach! LOL!!! Gonna try to eat a salmon burger w/ cheese. Maybe I'll have a small slice of pecan pie to get the calories up. I'm supposed to be at 1800ish.

Next UD, don't eat fat-free anything, or "skinny" mochas. You'll get your calories in, no prob. ![]() Last edited by Librarygirl; 11-26-2012 at 03:37 PM.. |

It always felt like a huge splurge!I managed, though. I had a 1/2 piece of pecan pie and I'm just under 1800 cals now. Still have the rest of my skinny mocha to sip on this evening, too. OINK OINK I feel huge! (waah waah waah! I'm on a diet and pigging out) ![]() ![]() |

haha, it's fun isn't it? I love my co-workers thinking that I've given up and am just going to eat chocolate and cheetos (which I did today). They'll see.
![]() If you do feel bloated on UD's you know the solution. Low Carb. I was so excited about eating carbs and after one week, I'm tempted to go back to LC on UD's because it's easier to get your calories in, and the bloat is not there. BUT, I won't worry one whit if I do want to eat something carby. ![]()

![]() Yea, I know that drill mighty well! I'm sure I'll get my fill of the low carb menu over the coming winter. (when I'm holed up at home refusing to brave the arctic tundra! So not a winter girl!) Haha, your coworkers will surely be surprised! Yay you! |
