Sometimes (real helpful, huh?).

Every few weeks I try to keep DDs very high fat, for a fat fast or nutritional ketosis kind of thing. When I do that, I don't count CO or butter if I have it first thing on a DD, and don't have any other calories for several hours afterwards. It hasn't slowed me down, and I've had some nice whooshes after these DDs. But I don't usually have CO on UDs (prefer my HWC). If I did, I would definitely count them, as I'd be consuming them in combination with carbs and/or protein, and wouldn't be in fasting mode that day. Hope this helps!

I don't use an eating window per se. However, on DDs I almost always just have a bedtime snack which is anytime between 9pm on weeknights up till 10:30pm on a Friday or Saturday night. On UDs I usually wait till 1pm and have a light lunch and then a nice dinner and a bedtime snack, but if I wake up hungry on UD morning I'll eat something. JUDDD doesn't care when you eat your calories or what they consist of. Dr. J says a total fast on DDs is optimal, but for most of us that isn't doable every other day. I've done it about 3 times, but I enjoy my bedtime snack.

I ate with family today for our family Thanksgiving. I had a small plate pretty full of veggies and meats, both low and high carb. Then I had about 4 different desserts, bits of each in a bowl... I didn't eat anything before our luncheon, except about three cups of coffee with full fat, full calorie cream, and nothing since...I'm having a hard time evaluating whether I ate enough calories. I'm not too worried about going over.

I use a free online counter, and over the past 10 months, have managed to get most of my usual recipes calculated and entered into it, so now it's just a matter of clicking on those items when I make them. Every now and then there's a new product or recipe I need to calculate or enter. Of course, last week I had to figure out all our family Thanksgiving recipes and enter them in, but I wound up not counting at all those 2 UDs, or should I say UUADs! In the long run, I think it's well worth a little time investment to get your recipes logged in so you can use them later.
Thanks for the input! At some point I'm probably just going to have to bite the bullet and start spending more time online logging what I eat....

You just amaze me because even after UD's you will still weigh the same as you did after a DD! I usually have about a 2 lb difference! Maybe I should switch my calories on DD to dinnertime..? Hmmmnn, but I'm kinda getting in the habit of having coffee with coconut oil and hwc in the morning! Oh, and I do count those calories!

I am so glad the holiday eating is over While I'm no longer following a low carb plan anymore, eating all those carbs after not having them in over a month really messed with me Ready to get back to normalcy (until Christmas ugh, lol).

Melanie, I encourage you to try different DD eating patterns (maybe a week or two at a time): three smallish meals a day, or two, or one in the evening (or at noon or in the morning), or teensy mini-meals every hour, or fat fasting, or fasting ... the more you try, the more you learn about your own metabolism ... and how to tell the difference between 'real' hunger and thirst and its-a-habit hunger .... and the more you understand that, the more prepared you are to lose it and keep it lost!!!!

Over the course of my journey, I had to change eating patterns several times as my body's needs changed. Frankly, recognizing the need and making the changes were part of the fun!

I count 1/2 the calories in CO...that seems to work for me.

JUDDD cares about calories. JUDDD does not care what you eat. Your body probably does.

Thank you! I'm pretty good at knowing what is hunger and what's the other stuff. I drink so much water in general I don't even let myself get thirsty, lol! Is it normal to be hungry on DD's? So far today I'm feeling fine. Some days though, I feel like my stomach is chewing on my insides trying to find something to eat! lol

Yes, totally normal to be either very hungry and not hungry at all. If it's bad, try something tiny with a few calories in it, like a wedge of laughing cow light cheese for 35 calories, or some broth. Or you can envision your body burning up the fat at those times

The anti-bounce is new for me. My bounce was never large, but I'm kinda un-nerved at this point that I remain the exact same weight for like 5 days in a row. I don't even know how that is possible- to the 10th of a pound
I never thought I would miss the bounce, but I got use to it and now I always wonder... is the scale broken? Is it stuck on this exact number...

Carly...I remember Tina (Mykidsteacher) talking about this very same thing happening to her. Can't remember what her thoughts were about it. Wish she would happen to see this and chime in about it. I miss her not posting as often. Fingers crossed that she will see this. Your little bod may just be resting!

If it's digital, and you aren't resetting it between weigh-ins, it may read the same. I had the anti-bounce pretty consistently until I figured out that was what was happening. It wouldn't register a difference until it was more significant than a few 10ths of a pound.

I really did not think I would have the most trouble with up days on this plan! However, I did it again. I am stuffed and only at 1200 calories for the day. Ugh! I ate early, too! Made breaky (eggs w/ cheese & toast), splurged and took DD out for lunch (Culvers, had 3 chicken tenders w/ fries) then a skinny peppermint mocha. That's 1200ish. I swear UD's I feel like nothing but a giant bloated stomach! LOL!!! Gonna try to eat a salmon burger w/ cheese. Maybe I'll have a small slice of pecan pie to get the calories up. I'm supposed to be at 1800ish.

Starbucks, full-fat latte! Next UD, don't eat fat-free anything, or "skinny" mochas. You'll get your calories in, no prob.

I just can't get past the calories on the full fat versions! Plus, I've had years of my skinny versions from my SB days. KWIM? I actually LIKE the skinny versions. I do get the venti size. Does that count? It always felt like a huge splurge!

I managed, though. I had a 1/2 piece of pecan pie and I'm just under 1800 cals now. Still have the rest of my skinny mocha to sip on this evening, too.

OINK OINK I feel huge! (waah waah waah! I'm on a diet and pigging out)

haha, it's fun isn't it? I love my co-workers thinking that I've given up and am just going to eat chocolate and cheetos (which I did today). They'll see.

If you do feel bloated on UD's you know the solution. Low Carb. I was so excited about eating carbs and after one week, I'm tempted to go back to LC on UD's because it's easier to get your calories in, and the bloat is not there. BUT, I won't worry one whit if I do want to eat something carby.

Shush now!!!!! You don't have to be so drastic about it! Go back to the "drink the fully loaded latte" part, I'll do it, I'll do it already!

Yea, I know that drill mighty well! I'm sure I'll get my fill of the low carb menu over the coming winter. (when I'm holed up at home refusing to brave the arctic tundra! So not a winter girl!)

Haha, your coworkers will surely be surprised! Yay you!

YES!!!!! There's a skinny peppermint mocha at Starbucks that's sugar free with skim milk, no whipped cream! Now, if you drink the regular, you'll tell the difference, but to me (I always get the skinny versions), it's great. It lets me "splurge" on down days and feel great about it.

Luv, it is! I sip on it alllllll afternoon and I have no grumbly tummy that way. It works for me anyways...and like I said, it helps the head game so it prevents me from feeling like it's "not fair" to be fasting. KWIM? (my downfall in the past!)

That sounds sooooo good. I'm not sure what skim milk would do to my blood sugar, but I might be willing to try it on an UD. If only Starbucks started offering coconut or almond milk the way they do soy!

Sorry! Yep, I had a turkey for an avatar before. I know what you mean...since I'm new, I can't figure anyone out once a picture is changed. (except the other newbies, since we've posted more together this week!)

Cindy, close! It was on my china cabinet handle. (DD made it and I just LOVE all things she makes) She hasn't made me a Christmas picture yet. Warning: I might change mine again if she does. LOL! I just that girl!

UGH, I woke up with a headache today. I had a light one at bedtime last night, too. Just ate some eggs (UD here) and sipping coffee. Might be time for some motrin!

How's everyone doing???

I am fighting a cold here, and just winning, this is my first cold this year! I am taking vit C and Echinacea.

Hope the Motrin does the trick.

Bluck, colds are the worst! Hope you feel better Miss Cindy! I'm off for my motrin now...and going to make more coffee, I think. My oldest decided to sneak some of my coffee out to the bus stop this morning. (teenagers, oy!)
