On a different but also funny topic, I think my bf might also lose (unnecessary) weight, if he continues to eat what I cook on DD's. Tonight I only cooked some chicken thighs in water with a teeny bit of olive oil, for my cabbage thingy tomorrow. I didn't cook enough cabbage for him, so I fixed him two pieces of chicken and sliced a cucumber on his plate. He said, the cucumber is delicious! He is 160 lbs and 5'11.

So glad that he is being supportive and eating how you do....just be sure he doesn't go and disappear Mine is doing this with me too, however, he's on his own for DD's...I think the 2 of us have very different *ideas* about what to do with our calories!

Yes, I've explained it to him, and he understands that he is kind of "on his own", I think. However, I don't believe he listens to me. All the way up until I started JUDDD and was doing strict LC, he would try to fix me a sandwich on white bread. He *will* get the message soon, because he lucked out last night. Most DD's I won't be cooking.

How's everyone doing today? I woke up hungry on this, my 2nd DD. Ruh-roh! I had some coffee, got everyone off to work/school, and promptly went back to bed. LOL! I never ever EVER do that. Honestly, though, I'm just coming off antibiotics for a sinus infectin and have a horrible time sleeping most nights anyways. (always congested) It was nice to have a few hours to actually nap. Napping is generally never in my vocabulary. Sure was a nice way to get through a fast.

Back to drinking some sobe water now for me. I'm going to try and make most down days fasting days until as late in the day as possible, I think.

I'm on my 4th DD today-the first two were pretty bad, but on my 3rd DD I've discovered that by eating/drinking small amounts throughout the day, as opposed to three 'meals' a day, makes a huge difference! So far I've had two slices of slimwich bread (toasted) with light chive cream cheese and then 2 hours later I had a cup of diet hot cocoa. At 1pm I'll have two 97% fat free Hebrew National hotdogs with mustard, and then two hours after that I'll have chicken broth. Will finish the night out with a bowl of soup and then more cocoa before bed I'll come in at 410 calories for the day and I should go to bed not feeling hungry!

Yay, this month's Newbies are chatting! I love to see you all getting to know one another and helping each other out already. I feel bad I didn't start the thread earlier now. Thank you so much Dawn.

I am one who generally waits until late in the day to eat on a DD. I have never been a breakfast eater and DD isn't interested in lunch so it is easy for me.

I see the mini meals are helping a lot of people.

I used to eat b-fast at around 7am, so I'm slowly working on transitioning to a later start on DD's-I was able to wait until 9am today I did have a can of diet soda at 7am though, that's part of my morning routine

Love the menu/small meal ideas! I am pretty familiar with this type of eating b/c it's what I've done when losing weight on south beach. I always ate beachy every few hours through the day and it sure worked great! I will have to see how the long fasting goes and try it. Thanks for sharing what's working for you.

I am a blabbermouth. I'm really a blabbermouth when trying to lose weight. I find the support on message boards to be beyond fabulous and it also helps me stay accountable. Whenever I was MIA from my southbeach boards, it was a bad, bad thing! I support boards. This one looks to be great already. Thank you for having such a lovely area! I'm glad I googled and found you all!

I start off my soda drinking rather early as well, typically two cans before 10AM I get a few funny looks at work when I'm cracking the cans open, but I couldn't function without my early-morning sodas!! (I don't drink coffee)

I don't drink coffee either, but it would probably be cheaper to start lol.

I wish I had done the mini meals today. I've had coffee (50 cals, threw out about 1/3 of the cup, after I got to work), pickled okra (15), olives (25), carrots (17), mayo (35), 6 almonds (45)...187 so far. I have chicken/cabbage/LC cheese in the fridge for 202.5...389...111 left. Ugh, and I want my coconut fruit bar tonight, which is 120 cals.

Are there many following JUDDD that choose to NOT consume any food (including shakes) during a DD? I have been pushing myself a little bit at a time and am surprising even myself. My first DD I held off breakfast until 10:30, my second DD I held off until 1pm, my last DD I held out until 5pm, and today I held out until 8:30pm. I ate only because I had prepared my salad ahead of time and didn't want it to go to waste. I made myself 2 large coffees throughout the day and that is it and water of course. I wonder now why I even bothered with the salad as I really wasnt hungry...Only ate 3/4 of it and am stuffed.

Does anyone "fast" to this extent on a regular basis and if so, does it make a big difference on the scale or do you just eat that much more on an UP??

Today I had 4 ounces of chicken breast and 1 light bonabel baby cheese at 5:30 pm, just water and tea before that, so 221 calories today, and it's been easy! I may have a cup of tea with 1-2 T. cream when I get home, which would put my calories around 325 today, pretty darn good! It is such a relief to me that the DDs are getting easier; I knew this intellectually but had a hard time believing it in my gut, but it really is true.

Thank you for having so many ways that we newbies can check in and ask for help, advice, and feedback on this board. It really is one of the nicest, most supportive boards anywhere.

I am going to look for the slimwich bread! I think that would really tide me over to have that. I also am thinking of having one small sweet potato for dinner next DD.

Good for you!!!!! I wish wish wish I had been able to pull my crap together one of the many times I had started regaining. It's SO GREAT that you are restarting now!! Woohoo you!

Well, I made it through the 2nd DD. Yay me, too! 160 calories. I had coffee all morning, no food until 3ish when I munched on a bit of celery. Then I had greek yogurt and fresh blackberries at dinner time. We were gone for one of my kids' band activities all evening, so that certainly helped.

Complete fasting is a personal choice. Many here have done it or at least tried it. It seems to be that for most of us it doesn't really affect the scale too much. It's really just a matter of what your body feels good with. Some love the ease and simplicity of not having to think about food AT ALL on DDs.

So glad to hear this! Yay for you!!!

No I ate the WHOLE thing.

Wowwwwwww @160 calories!!! You go Girl! I want to be you when I grow up!

Weight is holding even with TOM in the house. Spent the ENTIRE day at the movies yesterday and still the scale held. It was an UD which was good, but I also watched how much of everything I ate determined not to make it an UUAD. Proud of myself! I'm finding that I can't eat as much as I used to, it's a weird sensation.

Long day yesterday and lots of things waiting for me today. Meh!

Have a great day ladies!
