Blood Work...best after a DD or UP?
So I need to get some routine blood work done following a 12 hour fast (seems a breeze now!) but am I best to do it after a DD or an UP day? I ate last night at 6pm and had nearly all my calories saved for dinner, should I go this morning for the blood work?

I'm not really sure it matters. I would go whenever you feel it fits best into your schedule. For me, it would be either later in the day on a DD or first thing on the morning of an UD. I guess it really depends on what they're testing, and whether or not you needed to eat "normally" before the 12 hour fast.

I did my last bloodwork after a DD. As you say, the 12 hour fast is easy now. I shifted my DD meals to end around 6. My draw was at 8 am. I usually try to finish eating by 4, so that was my one concession.
Then after my blood draw I got a breakfast sub at the local sub shop. mmmmmm |

I think if you've been JUDDDing for a while, it shouldn't matter.
That said, I try to manipulate my results by being extra good before. |

Well I ended up going this morning. My last meal was at 6pm ( saved almost all my calories for it) and I had a large coffee with cream at 8pm. Unfortunately the lab was so busy and they never got to me until 10:30 so hopefully they don't make me retake it. Just testing the norm, thyroid (I'm hypo), glucose, hormones etc...

I've been getting my bloodwork done around 7pm on DDs (last 2 times) so I had fasted for about 22 hours. I don't know if it really matters or if it does matter based on what they are testing. My labs were great! A1C is under 6.5 and no diabetic meds since end of March!

My labs are always better when I eat well for a week leading up to them. No good to have 2 cups of full fat ice cream and a kit kat the night before...
It's funny cause it's true.Seriously, I teeter totter on the triglycerides and having a "good" week before hand makes a difference of 20 points (at least it did in this last round). Good for me is cutting way down on sweets, pasta, and bread, eating lots of lean protein, veggies, and fruits. |
