Reporting Back - Lowering the UD Calories
Back on October 17, I posted here that I was bouncing around 300, not having lost anything since 9/11/12. I asked for advice on how to change things up. The wonderful Pat suggested that I lower my UD calories from 2300 (which is what Dr. Johnson's calculator gave me) to 1800.
I've been sticking to that number since 10/18 and have gone from 300.8 to 286.8 (today's weight). I'm still bouncing up and down 3-4 pounds sometimes, not sure why. Water retention, or....?? Since I started my weight loss journey on 3/27/12, I've lost 65 pounds. That was on low carb. 44 of those pounds have been on JUDDD...I switched from low carb to JUDDD on 6/25/12. My pre-weight loss surgery weight was 415, so in actuality, I've lost a total of 129 pounds. Thanks to you all for your wonderful advice.

![]() ![]() ![]() Congrats Karen! What an amazing accomplishment! So pleased for you. You have actually made me think. When I restart JUDDD, I use my current weight and not my pre-WLS weight. I'm going to change my stats because we deserve the credit for that weight lost. Eagerly looking forward to more success for you! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Karen I am delighted that the lower UD cals seem to work for you. Almost 15 lbs in under a month is wonderful, well done you. The bounce is the bounce, that is part of JUDDD and our own metabolism too. 129 pounds, well that leaves me speechless, and that ain't easy! ![]() |

Yes, 129 pounds IS another whole person. It's a shame I let myself get to that state. Dawn - I was also hoping I could eat more and still lose. I guess I will see how far these UD calories take me. |

Karen, your weight loss journey so far is nothing short of amazing. Thank you for sharing it here. Am sooo happy for you that the lower UD numbers kick started more losses. Pat is truely an angel to help you figure this out. ![]() Last edited by Luv2Eat; 11-14-2012 at 10:34 AM.. |

Wow, Karen, what an amazing journey.
You are doing so well, and I'm glad Pat's advice is working for you. KUTGW! ![]() I think it's actually the norm to fluctuate and bounce around a few pounds every time we lose a couple. It's not uncommon for weight to bounce up a bit before bouncing down to a new low each time. Add the usual water weight fluctuation to that and we see how weight loss is rarely linear. |

Karen,
I have lowered my UD cals twice and it has not been a problem at all. I knew that my UD cals were too high because I felt like I was overeating every UD to the point that it was painful. The last time that I lowered was because of my weight dropping and I knew that it was time for a lower UD. |

You lost ME!!!
WOW!!Happy Dance for Karen! Pat is amazing. YOU are inspirational and a rockin' weight loss success! I have seen bounces that high (and higher) throughout this journey. The point is not how high the ball bounces. In the end, it always reaches the bottom of the stairs. |

I haven't tried raising them again. I've been at this UD level for 4 weeks. My weight bounces SO much, that it's hard to tell if it is the number of calories I'm eating, or water weight, or just what is causing it.
