Hi there~
I am looking into transitioning onto JUDDD next week. I am currently on hHCG, and 4.4 lbs. to goal. I plan to maintain through the holidays, unless I end up losing a small amount...won't complain ![]() Hoping to find some success stories of hHCG to JUDDD, and get some advice & info. I'm not sure when I should transition...stay on P3 for 1-2 weeks, or go directly into JUDDD. Also toying with doing a FAT FAST the last 2-3 days...which has helped hHCGers maintain their losses. Looking forward to the next part of my journey....maintaining!!!

Woah wake up call or what!!!! Anyway here I am all rared up and ready to go! Happy with a 2lb loss in my first week and recording my peak flow hoping for miracles! Take Care Jet x |

Newby here
I've been on Low Carb for a while and heard about Alternate Day Dieting
on this site. I just started my 2nd week and noticed that I keep losing and gaining the same 4 or 5 pounds. On my DD's I have right at 500 calories and on my up days, it's around 1200 or 1400.. Exercise 40 minutes a day (20 in the morning and 20 after work). I keep hearing about all this weight everyone is losing. Is there something I'm doing wrong? |

I'm 46 Female 5'5" and 177 lbs. I looked in his book I purchased and all those
percentages he talked about was confusing me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. ** just looked on his site and for my weight and height for 20% restricton, it says for my UD it should be 2729 and DD is 546. Is this UD correct?** Last edited by KTOWN28081; 11-11-2012 at 05:35 AM.. Reason: updated my calorie question |

DD Should be 346 You can do 500 cal DDs if you need to, but try to eat all 1818, because you need a big spread between the UD and DD and 500/1200 isn't going to cut it. It will also put your body into starvation mode. Hope this was helpful. |

Thanks Carly
It looks like you've done really well on what you've been doing. Can you give me some ideas on the things to eat on the Up days? I'm normally up at 4:30. Exercise for 20 minutes (once I get woke up). Get some green tea and start my 20 minute workout (maybe more if I get motivated). In the shower at 5:15,,, out the door to work at 6:15.. work until 5:00 everyday, then come home do another 20-30 work out.. I try to be in bed by 9:30 at the latest.. and it starts all over again. |

Thanks Carly, I got distracted with real life for a minute.
![]() KTOWN, you can eat whatever you'd like on UDs to get to your calorie limit. There are daily threads with what others are eating. Be sure to check them out. Just remember that some here still do low carb UDs and others don't, along with a variety of other plans. |

I am more than confused as well. Glad you have the fine folks here to figure out what to do. They are terrific!! I just stick with 500 calories on my DDs and I eat what I like on my UDs. Seems to work right now, but then again I am a beginner not an old pro. |

UDs I eat what ever my heart is desiring that day.
DDs are pretty simple and fixed for me most days. I too, get up at 5:30am. I usually drink iced green tea that I brew and keep chilled. I try to fast until my bedtime snack at 9pm. That is usually between 150- 200 calories. Please look at the thread about Biggest bang for 100 calories. I'll link it here later, but most of my bedtime snack are in there in some form or another. If I can't fast for some reason I will drink broth, munch on celery or cucumbers or have half a cup of coffee with a tbs of half and half. I find that the hungries will pass if I can survive 20 minutes with out eating. If, after 20 minutes I'm still super hungry I'll have a small 20 calorie snack, like some celery or a magic pop. I also remind myself that for me "hunger is not an emergency" I won't die, I won't faint, I won't melt, etc... Everyone is different, but JUDDD is very flexible. I don't know if this was helpful, but it's my experience

Jet! Glad you've found us. This really is a fantastic community with lots of support and information. I can imagine how scary that was to hear that message from your Dr. This is a great plan, and you're off to a great start. I too have about 100 (more) pounds to lose, and I just know I'll be able to do it here on JUDDD. So far I've lost 19.5 here, and another 54.5 before that on Atkins. KTOWN! You've gotten some really good advice from our pros. I agree that the calories you were using on UDs were way too low. Your body needs to know it's not starving so it wants to hoard all those fat cells. It's a pretty amazing plan that says "you need to eat MORE in order to lose." YAY! Good luck!

Thanks everyone for your help. I'm new at the way the posts are done on this site. I just do a quick reply. Hope thats ok. One other question I have (for now.. lol). Does anyone have headaches the morning after the DD? Is this something that will pass? I think I did great yesterday on my DD. Only 325 calories.. I was REALLY surprised. With it being a weekend, I normally can't stay out of the kitchen. Also I've noticed that on my DD's, I get cold. Should I just get moving to get the blood pumping?
Thanks again everyone for replying quickly to my posts. It really helps out. |

We call that the DD shivers. I get them all the time- even DDs in August I was freezing. We love to say here that we are shivering away the pounds. All I can say is layers, layers, layers and tea/ broth! I also bought an electric blanket last winter- it was a life saver. I didn't/ don't ever having morning headaches, but use to at night on DDs early on. They went away. I mean I still get headaches from time to time, but not JUDDD related.

I can't say any of my headaches are JUDDD related, but I have had them my whole life. I have been noticing, though, that I've had much less headaches since starting JUDDD, so that's a plus!
And the DD shivers - YES! Whenever I start to feel "uncomfortable" in any way, I try to change my perception of it, and think of it as a symptom of my body releasing weight. Like Carly said, shivering off the pounds. I do the same when I'm feeling hungry on a DD. I think of how my body is using fat for fuel, and it helps me deal with the hunger feeling. |

Hi there! I just found this place and am hoping it will help. I am needing a restart since I have once again regained everything I lost doing south beach. Unfortunately, I am great at losing, get close to goal and then am hit with the worst diet fatigue and rebel. Bigtime. I read about JUDDD this week, got the book on kindle and am ready to start out tomorrow. I figured I better find some support boards before I really need it.
Quick question, (and I will search here in a sec) is there a sticky for recommended shakes/protein bars, etc, for the 1st 2 weeks? I see the book recommends you do that initially to be certain of calories for DDs. Thanks for any help! |

![]() You can use any shakes you want, or use real food if you're confident you can accurately weigh/measure your choices to have a realistic calorie count. I never touched a shake or bar my first two weeks. I'm much more satisfied with chewing than with sipping. |

KTown and Flutter. Just as Dawn says I used real food as a rule, otherwise any Shakes or bars you like. it is all about the calories. I could chew on real food a lot longer than I could on any bar.Hope you enjoy JUDDD, we all love the freedom it gives us. |
