Hi, I've been interested in JUDDD for a long time but never really considered it for myself as I was a committed low carber and scared of fasting. I recommended JUDDD to my brother since I thought he'd like a diet where he could eat the way he normally does every other day. Very flexible and simple, but he never started it and I forgot about it. Now due to myriad health problems that make cooking difficult, I have found low carb impossible to stick to with consistency because the way I made low carb work was through copious cooking. I gained 10 pounds on vacation two weeks ago and felt hopeless.

Then I remembered JUDDD, read everything all over again, and realized I wanted to try it, at least for two weeks but I'm hoping it's forever. Today is my second down day and so far so good. The calculator has at me 1999/500 for 25% weight loss mode and since 500 is what the site recommends for the first two weeks anyway I'm planning to stick to that and see how it goes!

I went to high school many years ago with another girl with the name Sharolyn. She actually went by that name, no nickname.

Hi Yíall,

Iíve been lurking and reading for a while, so I guess itís time to introduce myself. Iím 71, 5í1Ē, at least 85 lbs overweight, live in the northern part of the Dallas metro area, have had a hip replacement and more recently a knee replacement, and am not very active but hoping to change that. I have been posting on the CAD thread for a while, and found wonderful support there, but weight loss stalled and then started to climbómy fault, not CADís. Jenericstewart on the CAD site told me how sheíd lost on JUDDD, so I started JUDDDing April 7. Since then I have lost 4.8 lb, which is 4.8 lbs more than Iíd have lost without JUDDD. (Being a compulsive overeater, Iím trying to use CAD to keep too many UDs from turning into UUADs, but need to count the UD calories too.)

Iím pleased with the weight loss, but even better is the way JUDDD makes me feel. I canít believe the amount of physical and mental energy I have, especially on DDs (which are getting lots easier). Best of all is the tremendous reduction in arthritis pain. Since starting JUDDD my pain level on most days has been reduced to about 10% or 15% of what Iíve been used to for years. Sometimes thereís no pain at all, especially if I avoid sugar and gluten. Iíve almost entirely stopped taking prescription painkillers, which I hated but needed in order to simply function, because what little pain I do have is taken care of by OTC remedies. I donít even need much of those. This seems like a miracle. For me, JUDDD is more than a weight loss plan Ė it is literally an answer to prayer.

Many thanks to all of you for your very informative posts. I have Dr. Johnsonís book, but have probably learned more from the forum!

I love reading this Beadelia, it is one of the side effects that some of us have noticed and it is life changing.

I am delighted that you are getting so much more than simply weight loss from JUDDD.

Beadelia! I'm so glad you found us! jenericstewart is a great role model for JUDDD, and weight loss in general!

My mom is 80 and had knee replacement 10 years ago. She's been JUDDDing for just over a year now, lost the 35 or so pounds she was aiming for, and is happily maintaining now doing a loose kind of JUDDD. She makes sure she gets one 500 or less calorie day per week, and still does EOD rotations but doesn't count any other day, she just goes by "feel", making sure EOD is on the low side. I'm sure well under 1000 most DDs. She loves it!

I'm so glad you're finding the DDs doable, and are getting such great pain relief. JUDDD really does have some magnificent side effects!

Thank you all for the warm welcome. If there's anything that I've noticed reading through the threads, it's how supportive everyone is.

LoCarbGal, reading about your mom losing that much weight on JUDDD and now keeping it off with her "loose" version of the program is extremely encouraging. Losing when you are older, and especially when you have limited mobility, can sometimes seem like it isn't even possible, but apparently with JUDDD it is! I was down another .2 lb this morning (yesterday was a DD), so that's five pounds even since I started three weeks ago.

One thing making JUDDD doable for me is that I've made a list on my computer of the foods I eat most often and the calorie counts for different amounts. That way I don't have to look them up every time. I have to admit that I cheat a bit in that I don't record all the raw veggies I snack on, but I know those counts are low, and if I have to obsess and compulse about every broccoli sprig and celery stalk, I'll drive myself bonkers and quit. Learned that a long time ago from experience. If I stop losing for too long, then I'll probably have to adjust that.

WOE: JUDDD ???
Start Date: April 2014
I started this woe of eating on Monday. Today is my second dd. My calories are 2035/407. I have never ever stayed on any WOE longer then 21 days. I must of started the HCG diet at least 6 or 7 times in the last 4 1/2 years and never made it past that mark. I would always lose 15 lbs and gain it all back in a few months. I was going to start yet another round, and my husband and son were like OH NO!!! not again. So, I started researching a better way. I had heard of JUDDD on the hcg forums, but never seriously looked into it. When I started talking to my husband about it, hegot excited for me. He told me he thinks I may have stumbled on the perfect diet for me. I can do anything for one day, and the low calorie are no problems after doing hcg so many times. And at least for the time being, I can stay on the SAD diet. Did I mention I have done vegan (and gained weight), primal (lost 5 lbs in a month, husband lost 25), vlcketo, etc. etc. In the almost five years that I have been with my husband, I have started and failed more diets then I can count. We couldn't go out to dinner because I was on a diet, can't do that because I am on a diet. My family is tired of hearing it. I do not have the willpower to go days and days feeling deprived. The JUDDD program seems very doable. I hope to transition from the SAD diet to a more healthy diet, but not yet. My blood sugars have been all over the place also. I was having 280 readings two hours after eating, blurry vision, etc. This scared me, so I went to have my blood work done and it showed a fasting glucose at 99 and a 5.7 A1C, so my doctor tells me I am not diabetic, but since diabetes runs in my family (grandmother died from it and my father is currently diving down hill fast from it), I know I need to do something. Sorry this post is so random but I figured if I yet again, started posting then I may find the support I need to keep me on this WOE. I refuse to call this a diet. DIET=Failure to me. Exercise is hard for me right now because I am working full time and attending school full time. I also ride the bus to work, so a typical work day is leaving at 5am and returning home at 730pm, just in time to make dinner and do a little schoolwork and go to sleep. Did I also mention I own every home fitness video program also? I am hoping to fit Body Revolution in sometime soon….

Hi folks.

Second time round for me!

I did JUDD before it was popular about 3 years ago. It worked very well. I lost weight almost effortlessly after the initial struggle with DDs. I changed shape also and had less upper respiratory infections, which was very helpful.

I am not able to exercise really at all because of chronic health issue. So to achieve weight-loss on JUDD was amazing in so many ways.

However, I never really dealt with the issue of "maintenance" so very slowly gained the weight back over last couple of years. Also had lots of stress too.

Anyway, this time its all systems go!

Want to lose about 20 lbs again.

I will check in every week with weight and how things are going for me.

Good to see other folks progressing here.

Got a little shook because, while I've been weighing only on the mornings of Up days following a Down Day, I still showed a couple of little bounces. They went 192.7, 192.9, 192.2, 193.6. Even though I realized that there were factors that could have caused these bounces -- eating late, or a restaurant pigout -- they still really bothered me. Two tenths of a pound! Over a pound! Aughhhhh -- I'm failing this diet too! Then I remembered seeing a thread called "The Daily Bounce Doesn't Rock My World (Anymore)," started by Carly. The daily bounce doesn't rock my world (anymore) . I read the whole thing this morning, and confidence in JUDDD has been reaffirmed.

Fellow Newbies, READ THIS THREAD! (And remember that Carly got rid of 75 lbs in under 14 months.) It will save you from discouragement, and maybe keep you from giving up. As for me, I'm starting a little journal like this of my own. Thank you, Carly. But what does "DNW" mean? Did Not Weigh?

Thanks for hooking up the thread. It sure is a goodie.

I know when you are focused on the scale those bounces sure can rock your determination no matter how small the bounce or logical the reason.

Glad you are back to the peaceful place.

on usefulness of that classic thread.

I'm so glad this helped you
Yup- Did Not Weigh- for me this equalled being on vacation without a scale.
