I'm Back!

Well, I took a hiatus from JUDDD(and was unsuccessful), so I'm going to give it another go! This time I have bulletproof coffee on my side--I finally tried it a few weeks ago, and it's something I think will be helpful in keeping my down days in check!

I'm starting with UD tomorrow, then Sunday being my first DD! Looking forward to getting some discipline back in me!

Saxy.

I am on a DD tomorrow too....so know that there are others out there lol. My DD turned into a little disaster yesterday ate around 1200 cals...however, my UD on Thursday only hit 1200 too so hopefully it will balance out. Glad that you came back.

Thanks Lola! So far I have 300 or so calories in via roast beef and pepperoncinis. Hope to spend the rest of the night drinking water with lemon.

Hello again

It's so good to be back with friends. I started the new year bringing JUDD back into my life. Well, I need to post and read replies.

I know there is no need to do this alone, especially with a wonderful example of how this WOE works. My DW is encouraging me and she was right - it's a lot easier with all of you. I have gone down 7 lbs., and plan to come each day to let you know how my day was. Tomorrow Is UD and.I can't wait

It's so good to see you again. Lots of returners coming back - it's beginning to feel like Close Encounters of the JUDDD Regime. Does anybody here hear music or have an urge to construct mountains out of mashed potato?

I try to remind her of this and that she gets plenty more calories than I do so she should enjoy it now!

Absolutely, I bet you are a wonderful help. And the other thing is the % scale. Sometimes we need that little extra and the knowledge that we haven't 'failed' is very important.

Welcome back Chelly! Congrats on the loss so far!

SlowSure....I'll take some of that mashed potato! (no, wait until tomorrow's UD!) My reason for returning to JUDDD is simple--I know it works if you work IT. And the JUDDDBudd support is phenomenal! Wish I hadn't strayed the first time around, but I think I have a new attitude towards food working for me this time, and the comfort of being able to come here for strength when I need it.

Thank you to all for your warm welcomes........wow............it feels good to be amongst friends. I was feeling like a failure as I went off by myself and of course, regained all that I had lost prior. Well, I am taking it a day at a time, 1 lb. at a time until I reach goal. I was able to do DD successfully yesterday and still have many calories left on this UD. I am looking forward to dinner later........DW and all...thank you so much for the encouragement.

Switching from very low carb to JUDDD

Hi there! Long time lurker, new poster here. This seems like the right place to ask something I'm turning over in my head!
I've been eating very low carb for quite a time, and have been successful in losing, I'm about five pounds away from my target, yay! JUDDD has really peaked my interest though as I think it would be much more sustainable for me in the long run when I just want to maintain. I only get to see my boyfriend three days a week and it would be great to be able to relax my eating on those days and make up for it again. I'm just worried that transitioning from very low carb to a new WOE will make me gain.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience with this?

Thanks for any feedback

Anna89. A fair number of the JUDDD stalwarts transitioned from LC to JUDDD, both Dawn/KeirasMom and Carly did, for sure, and, iirc LCG/Carol and Kissa/Cindy did (there are probably more, but that's just off the top of my head).

Any initial gains will be water/sodium from the carbs (and not everybody had a bounce - a lot depends on what you mean by VLC) and will settle down. tbh, it's fat loss you probably want rather than the water, and once you're through that, things may well settle down nicely.

You could run LC and JUDDD side by side for a while and ease yourself into losing your last 5 lbs whilst adjusting to the gradually introduced carbs, IYSWIM. You could little by little introduce carbs and then you might adjust in such a way that you'll never notice. Is it practical for you to try adding in an additional 5 or 10g of carbs for a week and then adjusting from that if you wish?

Sept 2014 A recent DXA scan reported very low muscle mass (sarcopenia) so I'm still thinking about how to cope with that. I have some joint surgery to schedule. I may miss questions that people ask me or personals. Apologies if I do, it's not intentional.

I came from VLC. I did VLC (under 20 net) for the first month of JUDDD and then just dived head first into the carbs.

I don't even recall that I had much of a bounce, but I think it's a possibility from a regain of water. So if you are really worried you can add carbs gradually.

SS is right, I transitioned successfully. I took a weekend off between Atkins and JUDDD and "carbed up." I gained 3 pounds or so, IIRC, in that weekend, and just called that my JUDDD starting weight. It was purely water/glycogen refilling. I went on to lose very well with JUDDD, but I still had a LOT to lose and I'm not carb sensitive. Good luck!

Hi Anna!

I transitioned real slowly from VLC. I did the first couple of months JUDDD and VLC, then added starchy veggies, then a little fruit. Then potatoes. By then it was Thanksgiving so I just dove into the holidays and had whatever foods I wanted, as long as they were in my calories. Doing it that way didn't really result it gains, but I know if I had just gone straight from VLC to "whatever", I would have seen that initial increase.

Good luck!

Hello everyone

Well, it was 13 degrees today following a major snow storm.

DW and I were travelling home and the tire goes flat on the highway. The car was towed and tire changed. We went over to the nearby McDonalds. Why did I need to go to the cashier and order? I did!

As my eyes looked at the hamburger and french fries, I walked out with only a small diet coke

I came home, weighed in a 205.5

And we didn't even freeze to death on the side of 95. I dragged her into McD's since I needed the little girl's room! I am very proud of Chelly!

Keirasmom, lowcarbgal, Slowsure and Carly; thank you all so much for your speedy responses! I'm sorry I am recovering from a particularly grim dentist trip so am only getting to reply now...eek.

It's so great to have you guys as a resource! Your wisdom is greatly appreciated, such impressive results! I'm not worried about the little water weight that will inevitably appear, just a little anxious about piling it on after denying myself carbs for so long... I think I'm going to take the tact of running JUDDD and low carb alongside eachother, and then as you said Slowsure and add in carbs slowly to test the water. I like the idea of starting with starchy vegetables, carrots will be dreamy to me by now!

Planning to ease myself in this way, and then eventually throw caution to the wind and eat something super bold as a treat. Hopefully I'll be adjusted by then so I can make up for big treats comfortably with a couple DDs. As much as I'd like to have the resolve to stay low carb forever, I really miss eating pizza in bed with my boyfriend until I can't move. Everyonce in a while of course

I'm not in any major rush to lose the last few sticky pounds so am happy to experiment in the way you gals have suggested! Shall keep in touch
