WOE: JUDDD
Start Date: November 26th 2013
A Whole New World

Hello JUDDDER's

I found out about JUDDD through an HCG site and I am so looking forward to this WOE.
I lost 61 pounds in two rounds of HCG. I finally broke 200 and got to 198. I know I need to loose another 25lbs or so, but I want to give my body ( and liver) a rest. So i was trying to figure out how I am going to maintain until the new year, then I'll go ahead and loose the other 25 lbs.. enter JUDDD..
This looks like it could be my answer.. and having another forum to meet people, to be encouraged and encourage others is a great blessing.
We underestimate the power of support.

This is such a great tool. I look forward to spending time on this site.

I'm currently in phase 3 of my HCG diet.. so that is no HCG and no sugar or starch for 3 weeks.
This fits perfect with LC and JUDDD

Thank you all for making this such a great site and awesome resource for JUDDD buds.

Thankfully
Ron

Welcome Ron & great job with that HCG weight loss! Excellent!!! Stick around & post often...it's always so helpful to have guys pop in with their opinions/experiences/thoughts.

Mary Ellen, I just know Juddd will continue to do wonderful for you! Keep the faith girl! Those DDs can be tricky in the beginning, but you do tend to get used to it. They get better! I surely remember being ridiculously, insanely hungry when I started. Not any more. Keep posting and keep up the good work!

WB happy! I am so happy you're back! LOL!

Ron! I agree with Melinda - having you guys involved in the boards is great. It sounds like you have done great with HCG - congratulations! I look forward to seeing you post often and get all the good out of this forum that there is to offer. I couldn't have done it without these guys!

Thanks for the welcome ladies. I am having my first "regular" meal today. I have to phase into JUDDD slowly so I don't shock my system. (because of the HCG)
The more I read about JUDDD and IF the more excited that I get. I really do think this can be my maintenance for life.
The only problem is, I have said that before and gained a lot of weight again.

I do believe these forums are key though. Thanks for the encouragement; I'm looking forward to getting plugged in.

Have a great day

I've said it before too, and this is the only plan I've been able to maintain my loss on. I'm nearing a year in maintenance. You can do it too!!

Mary Ellen, thanks for sharing your story. It sounds like you've taken charge and are continuing to put yourself first. JUDDD will work for you, and the DDs will get easier, I promise. This time of year is the hardest for any kind of diet, and I won't lie--DDs sometimes fall by the wayside. However, getting back to rotations is liking getting back on a bicycle and everything falls into place. As long as you're patient, the weight will come off.

Welcome Happy!!! I look forward to seeing you post on the JUDDD forum.

Welcome Ron, it's so nice to have some more guys around here! There are lots of former HCG people here, so I'm sure you'll get tons of tips and advice.

WOE: EOD JUDDD
Start Date: 11/12/13
I've posted a few times but figured I better do an actual introduction.

I'm a nearly 50 year old male that's about 30 - 40 lbs over where I would like to be. I've been putzing around with different WOE's over the years and have only managed to maintain my pudginess.

I had a wake up call this year when the blood center started turning me away from donating because my blood pressure was too high. I knew it was finally time to quit screwing around and get some of this weight off, hoping it drops the BP so I won't have to do meds for it.

I have been looking for that holy grail of a way to still occasionally eat decent food (within reason) but still keep calories to a point where I can lose weight (or maintain a loss once I get there). I lost a ton of weight doing VLCarb a few years ago but struggled with the dogmatism displayed in the support forums. I can't ever have a chocolate chip cookie, a grilled cheese sandwich, potato salad, ice cream, etc ever again or I'm a carb addict and doomed to fail? Really? I just know myself well enough to know that isn't sustainable.

I've played around with IF before but mostly doing the "window" style. I had too many problems eating meals in that short of time (upset stomach) so drifted away. Once I heard about JUDDD style IF, though, I thought that was pretty sustainable.

I mentioned elsewhere that I am doing full fast DDs for now because it's easier for me to eat nothing than it is to eat just a little. I have been doing this since 11/12/13 with a couple of breaks ( a weekend trip Nov 15-17 and five days over Thanksgiving) and have dropped almost 9 pounds. I was originally going to do more of 4:3 style with fixed DDs but I am not sure now and may stick with EOD DDs.

I am finding this pretty simple so far and feel fine so far. I do not eat a lot on UDs and sometimes find it hard to eat enough on UDs because I am not that hungry. I'm sure that will probably change over time as the overall calorie deficit grows. Also, I know I probably made it sound earlier that I was going to eat nothing but junk food on my UDs but I actually eat pretty clean. I just don't want to feel guilty if I have a treat here and there. Just the idea that I can have them if I want is enough, even if I don't actually eat them (if that makes sense).

I know this is a LC forum but it is also the most active JUDDD forum that I could find. I hope it's okay that I post even though I have no intention of doing JUDDD low carb (pretty much the opposite, actually).

Sorry for the long post. For the tl;dr crowd: Pudgy dude thinks this WOE rocks!

Frosty!

You'll find many of us here who do not follow low carb. Some of us came to JUDDD from low carb for exactly the reasons you mention. NEVER have more than one glass of wine? NEVER have a sandwich for the rest of my life?! You guessed it. I'm one who found low carb just too restrictive.

There are plenty here who combine low carb and JUDDD and do very well too. We're just one big non-judgmental family here. Nobody gets on me for my *ahem* several cocktails or bagels pretty much every UD.

So, anyway, again. I hope you love it here as much as I do.

Thanks for the welcome.

That's a relief about LC. I am not against LC as I have seen a lot of people thrive on it. I just wasn't one of them. It (VLC) nuked my thyroid and I found my "fat setpoint" was reset 10 pounds heavier than before after I got off of it.

Another n00b question - what are the best threads to talk just about general JUDDD observations and experiences? There are a lot of "UD" or "DD" threads which mostly seem to be "what to eat today" threads. There is the chat thread but that seems to be general chit chat, not just about JUDDD. It's a bit confusing.

December JUDDD Newbies

This one will get you started. We always start a new one each month where new JUDDD BUDDDs can ask questions and some of us who have been around a while pop in and try to help out. Also, if you need something specific that you don't think fits there, or if you just want to share something, feel free to start a new thread.

Frosty! I started out JUDDD LC, but have since drifted into moderate carb, just because I feel better not eating much grain/sugar. But I'm with you, I can't imagine never eating ice cream, pizza, drinking alcohol etc ever again. JUDDD is wonderful because I can now. And I don't feel like I need to overdo anymore because I'm not denied! Good luck!

The freedom is definitely one of the best parts of JUDDD. I don't how times during an UD I've thought "I could totally run down to the store and get a candy bar". I never have though, because just being able to is enough. Weird, huh?

Just wait until you DO actually buy one, have a square off it, and then realize the rest of it's still in your fridge 3 months later because you forgot about it!

I ready to commit to JUDDD.

I'm a little nervous because the only time I have lost weight is on LC but its been to restrictive and boring. I feel left out and it just isnt sustainable for me. I'm also nervous because I have always been a person who couldnt fast unless forced to (i.e...hospitalized or lab tests etc..)

The calculator says 3428 UD calories and 686 DD calories. Can you really eat 3428 and lose weight? I want to be a believer. So I will give it a go for the rest of December and see if I can fall in love with this WOE like so many of you are.

Finally, its hard because I am allergic to dairy and high carbs make me woozy headed and sleepy.

Shantony! I think you'll be surprised at how easy it is to do this WOE, once you get used to it. Your body really does get used to your not eating much EOD (every other day). It may take an adjustment period, but it's sooooo worth it!

Those calories sound WAY too high! You may have neglected to change your height and weight to inches and pounds - the calculator defaults to metric, unfortunately. If you want post your age, and height, I can double check it for you. This is something a lot of us did in the beginning, and it's crucial to get those numbers right!

Yes it is easy to get those numbers wrong, though 3,000 plus calories would be nice.

Hi, I am new to JUDDD - started my first DD yesterday. I have a question though - Thursday is our holiday party at work and would be my DD. Is it okay to do DD on Tuesday and Wednesday so I can participate in the party on Thursday?

Monica! I remember your picture from awhile ago.

Most of us would not recommend two DDs in a row, especially when you're just starting out. It may feel excessively restrictive, and make you really go nutso on your next UD. You could try a MD (average between your DD and UD calories, or 60% on the JUDDD calculator), so Tues DD, Wed MD, Thurs UD.

Personally, I hate MDs and will always do two UDs in a row to switch things up. Since you're just starting out, that might be the way to go. You've got plenty of time to do solid rotations. Enjoy that party!

Hi Guys!

I'm brand new to JUDDD! I'm trying it on the recommendation of a physician. I'm 5'8 and 160 pounds. I just cannot seem to get back down to my pre pregnancy weight at all!! And our son is five!! Seems like I've tried everything, save for prescriptions like phentermine (which I will not do) and my body is determined to stay at 160!!

So, I'm hopeful and excited that this new regime will help me! I welcome any positive support and encouragement!
