Hello and help please...

Hi Everyone! I'm here, ready for JUDDD! I am really excited to finish my first DD, it went great! I have done every diet on the face of the planet, really. I have had great success with Weight Watchers and low carb/Atkins. I have been doing low carb for awhile and have hit the stall wall. I am at a good weight, but there is that last chunk I would like to lose AND I want to find a normal way to maintain, JUDDD really seems like it doable and I can totally do this for life. I guess I am a little sick of low carb, I'm sorry to say, no offense to anyone, but I miss some healthy carbs sometimes and I am one of those people that has to stay very low carb/ induction levels, to maintain - this is getting OLD!

So, my newbie questions is: REALLY???? Like you can really eat reasonable carbs and what you want (to just feeling full) on UD's????? I need some help with this because I am seriously scared of eating carbs! Do you really eat them or do some of you stay with low carb on up days. I really would like to be able to endulge in dessert ONCE AND AWHILE and not feel guilty (this is what I liked about Weight Watchers, you can eat everything you count). I figured out my numbers on the JUDDD site, so I am ready to watch my calories on the UD's, but I am just afraid of this transition and would LOVE insight. I have been lurking here doing research and this board seems so incredibly supportive and friendly that I decided to dive in and post!

Thank you for your time!
Erin

Welcome, Erin! We are glad that you are here!

You should be able to do what you are wanting to do!

I do better with losing if I try to limit carbs, but you are close to goal and you should be able to eat moderate carb amounts without problem as long as you stay within your caloric budget. The best way is to test it yourself and see how your own body responds. Many, many JUDDD BUDDDs came from Low carb and have had great success without sticking to low carb, just sticking to calories per the JUDDD calculator.

Good luck and let us know how it's working for you!

Kimmie

Erin! I'm glad your first DD was a success!

To answer your question: Yes, really. You really can eat what you want to and still lose/maintain. It's a life-changer. I tend to keep low-ish carb most of the time, but not what you'd call really low carb all the time. I have pizza, or dessert, or pasta when I want it. I just tend to feel better physically when I limit my carbs, especially grainy carbs. But I've certainly enjoyed fruits all this summer, to my heart's content.

Good luck with your JUDDD journey, and be sure to keep reading and posting!

robin jo! So glad you found us! Goner is right, just read everything you can on all our threads, starting with the stickies and especially the following:

Benefits of Alternate Day Fasting/CRON

WHAT IS JUDDD? COME INSIDE AND SEE!!

If you google Alternate Day Diet and choose the link for Johnson Up Day Down Day Diet, you'll find out about how the diet works. There's a book called "Alternate Day Diet" by Dr. Johnson.

We have several people active here on the the threads who have improved their blood sugar and even reversed their diabetes doing this diet.

I hope you'll give it a try and join us!

Thanks for the warm welcomes! I have had a good up day. First I must report losing 3 pounds after my first DD - hello! I know I will bounce tomorrow, but you have all prepared me for that. I had an omlette this morning and a REAL PIECE OF WHEAT TOAST - it was so good to eat a carb without guilt, it almost tasted like dessert! I was really full from breakfast so I ate about 4 ounces of sea foam (another treat I haven't enjoyed in a LONG time) and just had the small Wendy's Baja salad and am drinking a glass of wine. I am comfortably full. I am within my calories of 2195 for the day coming in at a heathly estimate of 1635. I am full so I can't really see eating more, but maybe another wine.

Thanks for allowing me to report my day and all of the support! I think I will copy this response on the September Newbie's thread as well.

Ready for DD tomorrow!!

Robin. I was able to reverse my type 2 diabetes following juddd. I use to need a Byetta injecting 2x per day. In a couple months I was off meds and my A1c went from 9.8 to under 5.8

I haven't had it tested in about 4 mos, but will be going for a check up soon and suspect that it will be quiet a bit lower than 5.8.

Hi everyone! I'm going back on JUDDD now, after leaving pretty abruptly last summer. Thank G-d, I had a baby a few months ago (after a very difficult bedridden pregnancy) and I desperately need to lose the weight from both this last pregnancy and the last one  so here I am!

I remember doing very well on JUDDD so I am thrilled to be restarting. Today is my first DD, but I'm looking forward to getting back into the routine. I'm going to try and do SB simultaneously because I need some restriction on my UDs and I hate counting calories.

Cheers!

Hi everyone, this is my first attempt at judd and so far it has been amazing! I started last tuesday and have lost 4.5kg this week. That's 200 grams more than my first week doing hcg! Incredible , considering I am eating more and have more flexibility!
I have found dds tough , but doable.
I have a lot of weight to lose and plan to be here a while , so I look forward to seeing you all around the boards!

Thank you for the welcomes!
I have finished my 2nd week now and it was tougher than the first. I had a celebration event and ate some naan bread. I planned on eating one, but ended up eating 3 pieces. I managed to do a down day as planned, but then on the next up day ate garlic bread! Wheat's seductive ways won again.
I have got back on track and am now below my last down day weight.
I love that this diet can cope with deviations like that. My first one I went up 1.5, but this went down after a down day. I felt that even though I had screwed up, I didn't need to throw in the towel. I know I suffer from black and white perfectionist diet mentality, so glad this diet can help with that.
Wheat is such a trigger for me, have to remember to just say no.

You're just learning and adjusting to JUDDD, muffles. It really is a most forgiving WOE. Just keep on keeping on, and you'll be pleased with the results.

Some weeks or days are definitely harder than others. But they pass, and you get a whole new chance to do great on the next one!

JUDDD is very forgiving and I found that it really helped to heal my relationship with food. My life has been transformed and a big part of that has been because of JUDDD. There are many areas of my functioning where I have had major improvements which has lead to a much better quality of life.

Congratulations on your two weeks! You will find JUDDD very forgiving. Calories can come from any source, but you know yourself and if wheat is a trigger to go over them, you will have to think about that. I too love bread, and have found I can indulge on occasion as long as I save my calories and eat it later in the day, when there is less chance to have cravings. WELCOME!

Total Newb...

Hello Everyone-

I'm excited to start JUDDD. I read an article on it in Elle magazine earlier this year and kept it in the back of my mind. Now I'm ready to try it. I think it will work for me because I'm so much better with short term relationships As in, I can eat (or not eat) anything for a day, maybe two days...but after a few days, I get HANGRY (hungry + angry)...and that's just not good for anyone.

Outside of being chubby, I'm a nurse in the emergency department and ICU's. So while I'm not doing too shabby of a job saving other peoples' lives, it's about time I start saving my own.

Cheers!

you never have to feel hangry while JUDDDing. You can always eat it tomorrow! I lost almost 80 pounds and only dieted half the time. What gets better than that?
