Hello!

I am going to give this WOE a try. Within the past five years I have been as heavy as 226 lbs and as light as 153 lbs. I am type 2 diabetic. I am also hypothyroid and take medication for that. Also, I have to take prednisone and have done so for over 28 years. I just began to read about IF last night. This should be interesting.

Becky. Several of us here are hypothyroid or dealing with other medical issues. I have no experience with prednisone, so I can't speak to that, but JUDDD works miracles with many of us.

Hi Ladies!

Going to give JUDD a try. Have been LC'ing on and off for years 2 years. My highest weight was 208. My lowest was 158 this past Dec 2012. At that time in Dec. I stopped tracking my nutrition and was on hold for most exercise due to a shoulder/ neck injury. I am now cleared to MOVE with some limitations so I am ready to give this ago again. I have put on 12lbs since Dec 2012. Part could be the medicines I'm on per my Dr but I take 90% of the blame. Time to take control.

I would like to give JUDD a try as it is flexable. My income is limited and I have a pantry of food (canned foods, frozen meats, pasta, rice etc...) that I do not want to go to waste. Goinging forward I will be wiser to what I purchase. I am also cooking for one mostly so that is a challenge but do not mind shopping for fresh food regularly. I often cook on the weekends for the week ahead.

I am loving all the information here. The support I see, the education, the food porn, the recipes. Just wanted to say thank you in advance. Going to give this a good ole try!

~ Kristan

This morning's weigh in. 170lbs Per Alternative Site: DD 360 cal UP 1798

Planning on a DD today. It's 5pm and have done well thus far

I think I saw you over on Yennie's Potato Hacking Journal - good to see you here. That's a good start for your DD.

I hope that you both find out whether JUDDD fits in well with your health considerations and lifestyle.

If you have any questions, I hope that you'll ask them - there's a thread where you can meet other July and maybe read about some of their experiences and questions: July JUDDD newbies

I should have stopped in this thread first, but that's me,... backwards!

My name is Carla Glad to meet you all.

I have an Akita, named "Keetah", and that's where "Keta" comes from.
He's getting up there in years, just turned 13 last month.

I also have a 25 y/o son, "Craig", and my hubby's name is "Craig" too.
I guess you could say the female hormones are outnumbered in this house !

I have always struggled with my weight, and have wrestled with disorders as well.
When I was in the Air Force back in the early 80's, I was Bulimic and would binge and purge with laxatives. Thank God I could never make myself throw up, or I'm sure I wouldn't be here today.

It seems that I have never been happy with my weight, or myself for that matter.
I thought that by now, at this age, I would be content and at least learn to love myself. Well, I don't.
One example is that since I've been a member here, I have tweaked my profile about 10 times.

I'm just starting menopause, *UHGG*, am on anti-depressants, mood stabilizers, and have had a suicide attempt in the past.

I don't know why I am telling you all this, I guess I'm just reaching out.

Today is a UD...measured everything in my lunch bag and will report how I went this evening. Thank you all again for being here....especially you my DW - who is my anchor of hope. I know this woe works....I just need to look at you.

Welcome Keta. I just started yesterday with JUDD but have been here before doing LC. My weight was around the same as yours. I'm almost 48 and 5'9" and on some similar meds. You can do it. This great group will keep us motivated I'm sure and support us when needed. I have learned I can't do it alone.

Chelly, I week in and you are doing fantastic! Congrats to you. I know I have picked a program I can stick with. You are proving that to me.

Carly, Thanks for helping everybody out and I will be heading over to the July thread now.

Enjoy your day everyone!

Kristan! JUDDD will work great with a limited income. I'm saving so much on groceries - it's unbelievable. I'm also saving on electricity because I get freezing cold on DDs and I've been keeping the thermostat a couple of degrees higher and perfectly comfortable! Of course, it doesn't work the same in winter!

Carla! I'm sorry you are struggling so much with your emotional state. I hope JUDDD can help you with that. For one thing, you'll definitely begin feeling better about your body soon as you lose weight, and that can do wonders in that department. Plus all the health benefits.

Hello Wren and Carla!

Today is the second day of this WOE for me. Yesterday was not too bad!

Carla, I served in the Army in the early 80's.
Hi Becky Where did your travels take you? I got to see Germany,... loved it there !

This great group will keep us motivated I'm sure and support us when needed. I have learned I can't do it alone.

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement, Kristan. I am feeling pretty hopeful, and feel better after having a good cry last night. Just have let things build up for too long. We seem to have alot in common!

Thank you Carol
I'm wondering if the fasting part of JUDDD is going to be a problem being that I have a chem. imbalance (diagnosed with bipolar disorder) It certainly is something I should, and will, talk to my doctor about.
I have to be carelful not to let myself get into a manic state. Sleep is very important for me, and I am noticing that on my DD's, I'm not sleeping very sound on an empty stomach.

Definitely talk to your doctor about this and whether it's workable with (say) a medication schedule that you follow.

It's always difficult to know if sleeplessness will affect someone. It's quite common for women who are restricting calories (on whatever weightloss plan) to experience difficulty sleeping. Being a little hungry, or having lower-than-normal insulin levels apparently leads some women to feel mentally sharp, focused and also hyperaware, which can make it difficult to sleep.

Are you eating 500kcals or so on your DDs? If you have a high enough spread (the difference between your UD and DD calories, e.g. 500 and 2100) then some people here do well with a slightly higher DD that still allows them to keep that spread of approx. 1000kcals or more.

If it's the feeling of having an empty stomach, then would eating something like a bedtime snack of glucomannan pudding or a mug of broth with some gelatine give you enough of a full feeling to feel more comfortable when falling asleep?
