Olive! I'm glad to hear you've been reading and researching before diving in. To me it's so important to have explored the idea and understand what to expect. It will help you to get past any difficult parts, some of which you just have to wait out. This plan does really work, and can change your relationship to food and eating. Good luck to you!

Hi I am new!

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to say hi and thanks for the informative posts on this WOE that you all write on this board. I just started Tuesday and plan on combining JUDDD with Atkins - 30-40 grams of carbs per day. I just feel better when I don't eat wheat and sugar (including fruits) and am a tried and true sugar addict - it's best for me to avoid it period.

I've got about 40 lbs. that I want to lose. I've done Atkins in the past and lost about 40 lbs., but very VERY slowly. My lifestyle is such that JUDDD combined with some IF also (one meal a day, usually, maybe 2 on UD's) is hassle free. In fact, even before I went low-carb, I would usually one eat once a day (and of course feel guilty about "wrecking my metabolism." My metabolism is fine, except that I am a middle-age woman (40s) - and it's pretty good for being that!

I'm going to post a question soon....but, until then, see you around the boards!

- QS

Thanks FairyWren and SlowSure for the welcomes! I really like JUDDD and would probably do it anyway despite the weight loss benefits (which I am waiting for). I think it's a great way to practice moderation, and, also get over my own - and not make it any worse - food obsession. Then, there's the health benefits of it all, too.

I forgot to mention that I've been taking Resveratrol for about 3 weeks now, and its benefits are countless. I just feel healthier, can get off the couch, breathe and sleep better, and have less grey hair coming in. So, I do think there's something to Dr. Johnson's research!

Hi QuietStorm, i have around about the same to lose as you, just over 40lbs would put me in a good place. I'm just a wee bit older than you (early 50s) but i also think my metabolism is ok considering the hard time i've given it over the years!

I avoid wheat and complex carbs (except potatoes) for medical reasons (ulcerative colitis), i'm hoping the anti-inflammatory benefits of JUDDD will keep the UC at bay - i had a major flare up last autumn after dropping off JUDDD for a couple of months.

Morning ladies. I am on my 6th day of JUDDD today so its my 3rd UP coming off of losing 20 lbs on HCG recently. I have done HCG before and it came off beautifully, but I never kept it off. So I am doing a P3 JUDDD style as I really thought it would be better for me to maintain, loose a few lbs more and turn into a realistic way of life. Your boards have helped so much. I swear I must have read a million thread for a few weeks before making this decision. Thank you for all of the info!

I am SOOO excited to say that it has been going really well this week! I am down 2.4lbs since my 'weight not to exceed weight' for maintenance since going off and starting this. I have also maintained beautifully on up days with the exception of testing some cheese on an UP day. Mind you, the +0.8 gain from 2 small pieces of fresh, wet mozzarella was nothing to cry about. I was not surprised, as I did read that many gain from cheese and nuts early on. That was me too, so at least now I know. Interestingly enough, I repeated the same exact menu my next UP day minus the cheese, and I maintained. 1600 calories and not an ounce of an increase. So seeing 130 on the scale today was so very exciting! I will be ready to party when I see that next set of numbers after tomorrows doen day with a '2' in it!!!

Thank you so much for all of your useful information. It has helped me tremendously! Just wanted to say a quick hi and report on week 1 for me

Amy

Thank you and I think so too! I am a little scared to test the waters too soon though, as its still just 1 week in. I know I will be very nervous to try a few carbs or a glass of wine when the time comes, but we shall see. I am so pleased thus far! I can't expect it to say like this and I do realize that. Not gaining an ounce from an up day was great, but I doubt very realistic. Thank you again!

Good morning ladies. Well, this was a first and I am not a happy camper. I ate so clean and did an exact repeat of my last UP day with the exception of making coleslaw, and the scale was up +1.4 whereas last time there was no gain. At one point while on hcg, I did wonder if cabbage caused a gain, so I am now really wondering. There is the cabbage and then I am also due for TOM any day. Ugh....

Anyone else have an odd cabbage thing? And how much do you normally stall or gain during TOM?

It is very normal to bounce up after an UD. On juddd the scale does not go down in a linear fashion. Partly due to the amount or lack there of, of food in your digestive tract. The bounce is part of life with juddd don't let it discourage you.

Carly, I absolutely loved reading your chart and am so excited at your losses! Thank you so much! So here is my question to you and everyone else if this is truly going to be a way of life/eating. How do you handle last minute plans? Obviously it is not ideal but I also need to also be a little realistic here and have a plan in my head. Do you do 2 up days together and switch it up or ????

You can. It does have to be sustainable, but during weight loss I tried to use as few mid days as possible and follow strict eod rotations as much as possible. If I really had to eat out on a DD I had a side salad with vinegar and salt. I often just declined if I didn't want my plan derailed. The weight loss was really important for me and I wanted the weight gone. This wasn't difficult since eod was an UD so my life was really never on hold.

I am happy to say I lost it and surpassed my initial goal of 135 and decided to try to go down to 125 (130 now). My concern is I do want and need a little bit of a social life and am moving back to a great city with lots of things to do in 2 weeks. I kind of can't control when I will and will not have opportunities to do things. Yes, I realize we all back choices but I do need to get back out there. Been a hermit for too long...lol. Obviously this really impacts the DDs when you think about it. So what is the best way to manage them? What is a mid day and what is eod? end of diet?

Eod= every other day. Mid day = 60% on the JUDDD calculator and can be used when you want to switch rotations.

Ive been lurking on this site for a few weeks now and decided to introduce myself and give a little backround. So hello!!! My name is Amanda. I am 31 yrs young. Im looking to lose some extra "love" weight as I like to call it. Im short so a few lbs. goes a long way. Im a mother of 3 so while Ill never rock a bikini again I still have hopes to fit into a stratigically cut swim suit.

My husband and I started our New year much like many others, resolved to get in better shape and lose weight. We've done a round of p90x in previous years so we decided to use that again as our course of excercise. As for diet... bleh, Ive been using my go to calorie counting site to track the few calories I was allowed day to day if my goal was to lose a lb. per week. All was going mediocre until about April when my kids had Easter vaca. We decided to visit family back home...(I should mention that I live in a small town with only a handful of restaurants) Well, I went off the rails and ate everywhere I possibly could before we had to return to the sticks.

Once home I really couldnt get motivated to get back into the swing of things, and felt very limited and ambivalent. I started toying with the idea of cycling calories. I came up with the numbers based on a weeks worth of calories. My husband was all up in arms about how Im not supposed go under 1200 calories per day!! Guess he had tuned me out when I told him previously that 1100 was all I was allowed per day if I wanted to lose that 1lb a week. So it was off to the interwebz I went in search of any truly harmful side effects to this new idea.

Was I ever elated to find tons of information on cycling, IF, fasting and JUDDD. I can do anything for 1 day knowing the next day would be better! or at the very least less restricting. I wouldnt need to feel guilty if I, dare I say it, ate a brownie! Then of course theres the potential benefits!! So I started Juddd 2 weeks ago continuing to research it, and ultimately stumbled upon this site. Where I have lurked every since. My husband still isnt on board, but I plan to prove him wrong!!!

I had a great first week my rotations were spot on and up until this weekend I was doing fine. 5 dance recitals, a few soccer games, and the annual 1/4 miler event. Fast food became this weekends go to meal plan. That aside, I think I have found a WoE that will work in the the long run for me beyond losing the extra baggage im sporting.

So I apologize for the wall of text!!! Im excited to get to know some fellow juddders. Reading of your success breeds even more motivation for me to dust myself off and keep right on trucking.

Hola!

Hello everyone,

I'm happy to report I decided to have my first DD in a long time today...
I feel my eating has been out of control and I need a little structure in my life, so I thought alternate day fasting might help me.
I tried JUDDD once before.
Loved it for the month I was on it..
Suprise pregnancy
Suprise miscarriage
and just didn't start back up again...
I'm ready now though!

I'm one of those people who thrives on structure and being under pressure, both of which I don't have right now since I just finished up my degree in education and I am waiting to find a job/start working.

You may be looking at my stats and thinking "what does she need ADF for?!?"
But like I said, its mostly for the structure because I noticed I've been a little out of control lately with my eating, and it is also because I probably should naturally weigh 5-10 lbs. less than I do because my frame is tiny.

Sorry for the rant, but that's my story!
Happy to join yall on the JUDDD journey
