And I don't feel deprived at all because I know that tomorrow is an UD!

With that being said, I seem to have settled into a 4:3 routine because another restaurant has a Prime Rib special on Wednesday nights that cannot be missed and that leaves Sat as a DD. I have resigned myself that Sat nights are always going to turn into UD's, so I fast until dinner. I am losing (maybe a little bit slower than I could) however, I am cognizant of what I put into my mouth and it is a conscious choice.

The veterans talk about how forgiving this WOE is and I am finding that this is so true. I guess the main thing is getting into a groove that is livable for you long-term. I work a lot and eat out a lot and this has always been my downfall. The JUDDD magic just works if you work it!

Congrats! You will do great!
Thanks FamilyVet!

I've been trying to keep busy on my DDs so that I won't have as much time to be thinking of food. Yesterday I was SO busy laying a new floor that I didn't make time to eat until 7:30pm. Had my yogurt, then pretty much went straight to bed. Hmmm, what can I plan for Sunday?

UD 1 begins with a nice cup of hot coffee with 2tbs of So Delicious Coconut Coffee Creamer. Makes a nice cup of coffee for only 20 calories. I can do this!
Thought that I might miss my globs of heavy whipping cream, so far so good.

187 today on weigh in day, 2 pounds down from last Saturday with doing Low Carb. This changed my JUDDD numbers a little bit.

Was 1853 and 371
Now 1842 and 368

So, this brings me to a question. How often do I look at/change my calorie numbers on JUDDD? I think that I am going to round today up to 1850. Thoughts please.

Thanks again to all for your support.

Thanks,everyone for your responses.
Since starting LC, I have been depressed, but not crying as I normally do on LC.
I wake up early ( and not tired)on mornings following DD days, tho.

Sirtain, sounds like you had a productive day AND got through your DD with ease. It is one of the wonderful side effects of JUDDD - we get lots done! WTG!

Rox, don't worry too much about changing calories too often. I've heard it said that if you're within 100 calories up or down on your UD, you're okay. It is just an estimate, after all, based on some pretty generic physical information. We all have to find our "sweet spot". The pros told me not to recalculate until I seriously stalled or slowed down, and that has worked like a charm for me so far.

Deva, I'm so sorry you're unhappy doing LC. Any new WOE is quite an adjustment at first. Sleep trouble is common early on in JUDDD, so if you can get past it, you should feel some relief soon.

I say don't lower until losses slow. Eat at the higher level as long as you are losing well. I really only made an effort to lower DDs and that was about every 15 pounds and then at some point just dropped to 150 for the whole DD and stayed there while losing. My apppetite drastically shrunk as I kept juddding so I just naturally ate less and less as I lost.

Thanks LoCarb Gal and Carly.

Does anyone use a tracking program to track calories? Is there a way to set up a UD and DD in the numbers? This would be nice if it automatically would change each day.

I am currently at 1583 of my 1850, 267 left for the day. Is this okay? Or should I find something else?

Thanks.
Rox

I don't use an online tracker, but I don't think you can use the name on LCFs of any type of tracker. I would eat those 260 calories if you possibly can. You don't want you body adjusting to less food on UDs.

Good morning everyone!

I wound up having a nice glass of milk and a low cal granola bar. Came in only 67 shy for the day.

I certainly will not worry about skipping the cheese on my sandwich or eating all the low fat/low cal/ SF stuff next UD. I ate a lot of food to get up to my calories yesterday. As they say, live and learn.

Today is my first DD, I am having my second cup of coffee right now, 40 calories already gone, whew, these are going to go fast. I plan on trying to hold off as long as I can today, then having two small meals, full of low cal protein and veggies. We shall see.

Hope you all have a wonderful UD or DD today.

I am thinking about starting with an UD tomorrow instead of next Friday. I am just a little worried about Sunday being my first DD though. This is my only day with my hubs as he works 6 days a week. Wonder if I do kind of a moderate day on Sunday?? Maybe a 800-1200 day? I really want an UD on Easter too as I am entertaining my Mom, Dad, Brother, my 3 boys, Hubs, MIL and me! My numbers are 1853 and 371. Thoughts please.

I know that I want to do a balance of foods, I am tired of LC and really looking forward to a little carbs here and there without gaining like crazy. I know that I will gain some water weight switching to JUDDD as I pretty much stay at induction levels, 20ish, doing LC.
I'm just finishing up my second week today. The first week I lost 8 pounds. This past week I gained 2 and have lost another 1.5 for a 7.5 lb loss. I too have a life I want to live, friends who meet weekly on Wednesday nights, and often Sunday family days. Do I want to lose weight? Yes. Do I want a way of eating I can stick to? Most certainly. Am I going to lose as fast? Maybe not. This is a life change. A marathon, not a sprint. So I do a Down Day Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday. Up Day Wednesday, Friday & Sunday. That leaves a Mid Day on Monday since you shouldn't do two Down Days in a row. This is what works for my life. If there isn't anything going on Sundays, then I can do a Mid Day and then an Up Day on Monday. All I know is that this is the easiest way of eating and losing weight I have ever done. Hooray for You for starting!! Make it your own. <3

What Dr. J recommends is a MD before a UD, not before a DD. Like Carly says, think: Small, Medium, Large. DDs are hard enough without restricting calories the day before, in my honest opinion. Is that working pretty well for you so far?

You are so right Librarygirl. Maybe I need to do a Down Day on Mondays and a Mid Day on Tuesday then and Up day on Wednesday. I may try that this next week, and see how it goes! I started on a Tuesday, so that threw me off on my UD DD timeline! Thanks!

I'm getting worried about this stall. Here are my details. Right now I weigh 168.6 and have not lost significant weight since 2/23. I do see inches coming off but nothing on the scale. Please HELP.

-starting calories from JUDDD calculator @180lbs UD 1884 DD 377
-recalculated cals @170 UD 1826 DD 365

**I started working out last week (cardio and strength training) at least 3times a week for an hour

what am i doing wrong?

Energygal, it sounds like you are doing GREAT! If inches are coming off, and you're newly working out, you're slimming down even though the scale isn't saying so. Increased muscle and water retention explain the lack of losses. I know how frustrating it is when the scale isn't moving and you're working so hard!

Just trust the process. You're doing all the right things. Stay the course and I'll bet in the next week or two the scale will start going down for you.

Thanks LoCarbGirl! Makes total sense but yes it's frustrating. Here's a question for anyone... Do I need to recalculate now that I'm working out? I'm worried about that. If I do, that changes my calories so much that it scares me to eat that much! lol

Here are the numbers UD 2093 DD 419 Thoughts?

You'll just have to play with that and figure out what works for you. Most JUDDDers don't add back exercise calories. I wouldn't do it right away, wait and let your body normalize and adjust to the exercise for a few more weeks first. Then you may want to inch up your UD calories a bit to see if that boosts loss (sometimes more calories does! ).

Are you using your starting calories or your recalculated calories, and if you switched, is that when you stopped losing? I stalled the couple of times I reduced my calories before my body was ready to. We're all different, but it's something to think about.

Potato Guy Here!

I had heard you guys were using the potato diet and getting good results. Thought I'd drop by and say HI.

I have read through some of the posts on the DD Hack and Potato Recipes threads, and would love to stick around for a little while if you guys have any questions.

I started out my LC journey 3 years ago lurking around LCF which led me to *** and a few places I wish I hadn't ventured, so it's fitting to find myself back here.

After LC'ing for 2+ years, I felt something was missing. I still had 10 pounds that wouldn't budge and was stalled flat in the gym. I stumbled across the Potato Diet, tried it, lost that last 10 and shared the story on ***--from there it took on a life of it's own and I see people talking about the Potato Hack everywhere! I love it.

So let me know where to park and I'll try to be as helpful as I can. I have been doing a bit of a JUDDD myself, but not as structured as you all--so I'm looking forward to learning more about JUDDD in general.

Welcome Otzi! Glad to have you here. I tried the potato hack right around the time I started JUDDDDing. I did it for 4-5 days. It made me feel bloated and I didn't lose any weight. I may try it again soon, though, because I know many others have gotten great results. Thank you for letting us all know about it!

Great to have you and your potato wisdom, Otzi. I did the potato diet for 3 days (almost). Started feeling really nauseated at the end of day 3 and had some peanut butter and felt immediately better. Lots of BAD (TMI) bathroom issues all through that night. But....I lost 5.5 pounds during those 3 days, and dropped another 4 in the next 4 days following. I'll do it again if I need to shake things up, but I think I'll try peeling my potatoes. During my 3 days I ate all my peals (love them) but I wonder if that might've caused the tummy upset.
