Hi all; I'm going to jump on the JUDDD wagon I've been doing LC but find that progress is very slow for me on the weight loss. However, I have been thrilled at the lack of hunger (my biggest hang-up is feeling hungry).

I'm intrigued by JUDDD and want to have the ability to have more carbs, weight loss and the benefits of intermittent fasting (love that research thread!!). Once I get over this dratted head cold I'm all game. I still have some questions but will post in the March thread.

Anyhoo, thanks to all for the awesome information and posts.

Tina! I came from LC also, and I'm finding long-term, I'm losing at about the same rate (decent) on JUDDD as I did on Atkins. Good luck!

Thank you for the welcomes Carly and LoCarbGal!

Just updated my stats, thought I was about 270 based on clothes but scale at store says 266. Can't complain but pretty confident the not eating for 4 days due to cold/fever is why. Now to not gain it back and do a DD on Monday!

Hi Stacy, what a great thought! However, with this horrid head cold/exhaustion thing I have going on right now I've decided to delay my starting a DD until "healthy". I'm still LC, but I'm eating so little because of this cold that a DD is happening naturally right now every day!! Not what JUDDD is about...

I'm also not a daily food poster/weigher person so am not the "ideal" diet buddy. But what I do love is cheering everyone on and sharing the successes and trials with everyone. I would love to do that with you.

Good luck on your start tomorrow!!

WOE: JUDDD (3 DD, 3 UD, 1 MD) Potato hack 3-30 March
Start Date: 11 Dec. 2011 Restart 1 Jan 2013
Not really a newbie but a re-start after being discouraged by a very lengthy stall on JUDDD following a very lengthy stall on LC/low calorie.

Back after an absence. I stalled on LC/low calorie, switched to JUDDD and then stalled for 3 months after a good initial week. I was eating so few calories that I didn't feel I had much wiggle room with my WOE and it was causing some digestive issues. In combination with some 'life happens' event, my DH and I decided to stop our weight loss efforts in 2012. I gained 17lbs back (I think and that is borne out by looking at my profile).

We both restarted a WOE for weight loss in early January 2013 (I was 156.6 lb). We have DD on Monday, Wednesday and Friday: depending on social obligations, either Saturday or Sunday can be a MD. After initial good numbers, I've now been approx. 150 lb (with a 2.5 lb bounce either side) for 5 weeks. I'm now considering a potato hack (it sounds interesting and I adore potato so it will be interesting to see if I can handle it as I typically consider both potato and rice to be foods that I can eat in embarrassingly large quantity).

I remembered you as very kind - good to see you and thank you

The PH does seem to be targeted at reducing the palatability and desirability of potato. When I used to swim intensively, I have to admit that my dinner regularly included 2-4lbs of potato and that I had no difficulty consuming that amount. Of course, that was rarely plain potato so this may be a very different experience or I might rediscover my inner potato fiend (like toast, pasta and rice, potato has been largely off the menu for the past 4 years or so).

I was sure hoping that she was 100% by now. Do you think she has intermittent fever? (You can temp her rectally at home.) Whatever you do, don't stop the antibiotics until she is 100%. If she has a liver infection or something it may take longer to clear than a regular infection. You might want to have her rechecked. At the very least refill the antibiotics, if necessary.

We may need to move this to the chat thread, since this is a sticky!

New to JUDDD

Had my first DD yesterday and did Joe Cross's juicing for the day. Stayed under the 500 calories drank 70oz of fresh juice all day long. Went to bed half hour early as I was really tired (drained). Had to pee about every hour but Im 62 and thats not too unusual. So this morning Id lost 3.4#. Planning on still staying low carb, no starch except with eating my cashews, (theres starch in nuts) but really really good oils. I use my Vitamix blender ALOT! Makes excellent soups that I can add a few ounces of meat to. I can make a really good chocolate pudding with my cashews as well as a cheese sauce with the cashews. Im planning on using the culminations of all the diets Ive ever learned from in this. I wont juice EVERY DD, but this was a good kick off. I also walk 1/2 mile on the treadmill right now. Work full time, some grunt work walking. Had my Lapband removed 3 months ago after a 9 year run with that.

One question. What has worked best for you, 2DD with 1 day apart before another DD or do you spread it farther apart?

Good informative board here. Thanks!

JUDDD is also known as the Alternate Day Diet, so you want to alternate UD/DD, every other day, if at all possible. It seems to work the best that way. 2 DD in a row isn't a good idea, but I'm not sure if I read your question right.

Shinleaf! Glad you're here with us. Like Dawn said, I find EOD is best for quicker results, and I would assume gives the best health benefits and sirtuins flowing too. Good luck!

Im wondering if you can do 2 or 3 days between DD. Like Mondays and Thursdays (or Fridays) Does it seem to make a difference as opposed to Monday & Wednesday? Meaning of EOD? Havent got down abbreviations. (Im a non texter, can you tell?)

EOD = Every Other Day. JUDDD is alternating days. 5:2 does 5 up days and 2 down days per week. I'm using that to maintain, and I consider it JUDDD light. There are a couple of threads going on right now in the JUDDD forum as well as under "other plans" discussing 5:2.
