My bf is thin as a rail too, but he knows he is pretty much on his own on DD's. Sometimes I cook something that we both can eat, if I haven't eaten all day, but it's rare. I guess if your bf cooks, then he can just make his own meal on DD's, and you can have yours...often DD calories are so low, deli meat, pickles, soup and the like are all you can afford. Eating with him every other day, the same foods, is nice though, and my bf appreciates that!As for the JUDDD calculator, 20% weight loss mode is the preferred number, although in the beginning you may want to keep your DD's higher...Dr. Johnson says no lower than 500 (for the first two weeks), and some people go much higher until they get used to the restriction. It's more important to feel in control and comfortable with your WOE than to get the numbers "perfect" at first. I have been JUDDDing for 10 weeks and still stay around 500 on DD (I'm working on it ).Good Luck and ask lots of questions!!

I saw where you asked what happens after induction. There's no real induction, at least not like Atkins. The "induction" phase is just a phase where you are "allowed" to eat more on DD's to get settled into this WOE. Since you've already started eating at your lower DD numbers, you've skipped induction! I think that some are saying the 2 weeks where you are told to get in 500 calories on your DDs as some type of induction. Or it could be that that is the time it takes for the SIRT gene to kick in. That is what some are referring to when they say "induction", but I am not so sure that Johnson calls it that? Anyhow, after that 2 weeks of doing 500 calories (where Dr J also says to use shakes) you then reduce your DD calories to what they are really supposed to be.
So there is a 2 week period on JUDDD!! Just not sure what it is called.

But I would rather just do the lower number now rather than to have to cut them after 2 weeks. |

Greetings JUDDDers! I'm excited to join you all. I decided not to do another round of hcg, and many of my friends are here and were sharing some JUDDD info.
I'm 5 days in and so far, it's been great... Excited to be here and learn a lot! |

I know the rules are basically calories up one day and down the next but what effects if you have to UD in a row? I obviously I would want to stick as closely as possible but things do happen so wondering if you are set back a week or just need to readjust? I know with Atkins if I had one small crumb of carb it seemed like it just completely diminished my efforts for the last week or so. I have seen others talk about 5:2 or 4:3. Does it come down to what works for you? Like if I follow the plna all week following UD and DD but have a weekend getaway planned and have 2 UD in a row....? What then???

Thanks Cindy you have been very helpful. I think I am most excited that my DD is the only thing that will change and it only effects me. BF loves his carbs and I just didn't want to put him through that again.

Hello,
I also lost most of my weight on hcg in fact 64 lbs of it. I stopped at 108.6 which is a great weight for me. Now after about a year of no hcg, my weight is creeping back on and it won't really budge much. It might tease me with a pound or so but then it's right back. I played around with the 5.2 woe this wk and I am down a lb but today is my first official day on JUDDD and this is my first down day. Do I understand correctly that we keep our calories around 500 for the first two weeks of JUDDD and then use the number on the calculator? It puts me at 336 cals and wow that didn't seem like a lot of cals but I've only eaten 220 so far today and I feel great. Who would have thought? I too am tired of fighting everything all the time and would like a gentle way to lose the 4-5 lbs I have gained and then keep it off but live at the same time. Glad to be here.

Mary, you have done a great job and I really hope that JUDDD will get you back down to your goal. You are tiny and not far from goal so I may not be as fast as some, but, you never know.Glad that your first DD is going well. You don't have to eat 500 calories a day to start with, but Dr J felt that most people would find even that hard enough. Anything less is a bonus. |

I went to register and found out I was already here!
How silly is that! I've been doing LC off and on since 1972, but concentrating on it seriously since 2008. I am totally unable to lose any pounds at all so I'm here at JUDDD for a miracle.
Since I'm so used to eating LC, I may stumble around for a bit, but I will accept any and all offered solutions. I am a 67-year-old female, weighing in at 159 at the doctor's office last Monday. I'm only 5'2", so this is a real challenge. The good news is that I'm in good health and take only one prescription medication (HRT). I prefer to treat any and all physical challenges with dietary changes. |
