Hi Finme, and
! I hope you'll like JUDDD as much as I do. To answer your questions:WOE = way of eating TOM = time of the month Some of us weigh in daily just for accountability. No contest at all. We use it to encourage each other, and what it's really helpful for, especially to new people, is to see how other people are doing, and what works for them in terms of calories, foods, etc. You can weigh in daily, weekly, EOD (every other day), whatever you want. You can't tell what will happen with your losses when you first start. Personally, I lost real fast in the beginning. Other people don't lose for weeks and then it really starts for them. You'll just hav to see what your body does. Good luck, and don't hesitate to explore all the other threads and join in. This is a great bunch of people!

WOE = Way of Eating.
TOM = Time of the Month The daily weigh in thread is there for those who choose to be accountable daily. The big bounces some of us experience can be daunting and seeing that we are all in the same boat helps. It is entirely for support, not a challenge in any way. Some use it some don't. I did in December to help me get through the holidays without going mad. I can't possibly answer the last question. I wish I could. As you eat such healthy foods I don't think you will see any increase in your weight. But no one can really say how your body will react. Look forward to getting to know you better.

Thanks Cindy. I will take it one day at a time and see how I do.
I look forward to getting to know you too. This seems like a great place. Congrats on meeting your goal. I see we are about the same height. How long did it take you? And were you pretty steady as she goes or did you have some setbacks along the way? I'm tryin to learn to be persistent and slow. I usually get distracted after a few months. |

I actually lost most of my weight years ago on Atkins, 2001 in fact.
Then over the years I gained back 10 pounds or so that I just couldn't seem to move. At the end of 2011 i started JUDDD, did it LC for a couple of weeks and then broke out. i lost 12lbs in under 3 months, which included Xmas and a hoilday in Austria for a week. I have kept it off with no trouble ever since. |

Speaking of abbreviations, pet names for our natural body functions.
I thought Eunice or Bernice meant monthly periods that women are blessed with, Grrr. Digesting our food meant. Having Bm- bowel movement, potty, etc. Being a girl for 57 years, I may have some of those backwards?, |

Decided that I am going to stick with this WOE for a longtime! I am losing again after a week stall.
Also I bought a new scale that reads body fat, water, weight, reads your fortune, ect! and I have found that in just 5 days I have lost 1% of my body fat. My weight was back to 169, but the fat is melting! I believe all those cross fit classes and hamster runs on the treadmill are paying off!I have also found that the best times to workout are on the morning of a down day and anytime after noon on an UD ( unless its yoga, which I can do at anytime). I am really loving the way my body feels and will hopefully be looking as good by this summer! ![]() |

Welcome, Finme! (: It's easiest if you jump right in and start doing the UD/DD cycles, and your weight will probably go up and down but if you have a weight loss tracker with chart, you can see that the bounces happen but it's on an overall downward pattern. I'm still annoyed at gaining here & there but when I look at the big picture, it makes me super happy!

Hi, I'm Julie, I'm new to JUDDD
. But not to LCFs. I've been an Atkins girl for almost 10 years now and lost the majority of my weight with that (100lbs). I've done a few rounds of hhcg and was able to break through the 175 plateau that had me stuck for years. I'd love to get back into the 140's and stay there for life. I was there for a few months the end of this past year, but can't seem to LC my way back. I don't want to do another hhcg round, and have heard wonderful things about JUDDD. I tried it several months ago, coming off a round of hcg, and think I wasn't in the right mindset to make the DD sacrifices. This time around I'm quite satisfied and have had several good indulgent months to be ready for this. I'm also back in the swing of working out 3 times a week, so this should be a good season!! So far, so good. I'm at 158 (gulp!!) today and would like to lose 10lbs. 5 of which are pretty recent gain so shouldn't put up much of a fight. I'll try to weigh weekly and not be upset at the fluctuations. Quote:

Hi Julie, nice to meet you. Your weight loss is inspiring!
For those of you who were or are overweight for several years, how did you break free of the negative mental trap of thinking you will never be thin again. I find it with me everyone I lose weight. It's not like the old days when I was in my teens and 20's and only had 10-15 lbs to lose that could come off in a few months. Now when I have been working hard for a few months, I still feel so fat. So what is the secret to changing my thinking. I am ready in every way. Ready for a real change. I have dealt with so many issues to get to this point. This might be one of 2 major things that I foresee a problem with. (the other has to do with how I am wired.....i get carried away by whatever I am working on, whatever it may be. |

![]() Glad to see ya over here. After you get into the groove of JUDDD...I think you will love it. I have been maintaining great so far...doing LC on UD's keeps me stable for now since I have started hitting the gym a lot. I was up 3 or 4 pounds but it has disappeared I am still below my goal. I have tried doing the carbohydrate route but I have too many bounces that way. I am concentrating on high fat high protein. My down day pretty much consist of P 2 eating chicken and vegetables. This forum is very active and there are many wonderful people that will help you if you have questions.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and encouragement!! You're so sweet!! ANd so inspiring! I look forward to hanging out with you all on this journey! I suppose I should update my stats at the left. I'm up to 157 (as of this morning) and that 143 was a wonderful, brief moment for me. Maybe I'll get there again, but we'll see. I'd just be happy somewhere in the 140's.
Angela! nce to see yuou. Glad it's going so well!! WTG!! Quote:

That motivated me to keep working at it. The problem I had/have it seeing the "new" me and appreciating who I am. I still feel 200lbs+ and it's been years since I've been in Onederland. Our minds are tough to understand. I'd take that dis-satisfaction w. where you are and use it as fuel to stay on plan and keep plugging away. The weight doesn't come on overnight, and it'll take a long time to get it back off. My favorite weight loss saying is "It's a marathon, not a sprint. Slow and steady wins the race". So hard to want it "now"! You're doing great!! I'll go see about the other threads you guys post on. Thanks! |

I think time is really the only way to get past those feelings. Like I said, I still have them, but much much less all the time. As you see yourself accomplishing your losses, and maybe more importantly, as you see and feel the difference in your body, you realize that this is real, and you really are doing it. Not much help, I know. But coming here and being part of this amazing community has been absolutely necessary for me. These folks make me laugh, prop me up, encourage me and offer friendship. I hope you'll stay active on these boards, because I really think it's been the difference for me, and I hope it will be for you too. |

Good to see I'm not alone LCG. This forum does seem very unique in the way that people seem to sincerely interested in one another's success. I do hope to stick around.
Julie, your response made me realize that my bigger challenge may be with the second issue i mentioned...the ability to plod along. |

Finme and LCG, I struggle with feeling "fat" too. I caught sight of my reflection in the door at work a few times today, and no I'm not thin yet. Not nearly. Sometimes I feel the opposite on the inside too (I still think I'm 130 lbs), and then I see my reflection (full-length!) or a picture. Both mind sets can be either motivating, or detrimental. Either way, try and see it as a positive. That's all we can do, right?

Kissa, isn't not a slow pace that concerns me. It's my tendency to get focused on one thing, usually out of necessity like an assigned team project or home renovations. When I am focused on one thing, I tend to think very little about other things. So as long as weigh loss is my project, I am good. But usually a few months into it, I get focused on something else. I am not making excuses. I'm just recognizing my challenges and trying to figure out how to make this time different. IDK what that is. Medication for ADHD? Haha!
LibraryGirl, I know exactly what you mean. Inside I feel thin. Sometimes i go lig periods of time where i forget that im not. Dieting makes me more aware of my actual size, acutely aware in fact. Maybe that's another reason I struggle to stick with it. |
