Tomorrow is my first DD-not sure what to eat?
I just decided to start JUDD today and my first dd is going to be tomorrow. I'm following the calorie recommendation on his website and will be aiming for 500 calories tomorrow. However, he also suggests sticking with pre-made shakes for dds, like Slim Fast to make sure you stay on track. Now I actually like the taste of sf so I wouldn't mind doing this, except I'm pretty sure they're pretty crappy, nutrition wise (especially with sugar/carbs). But, I'd only be using them every other day so really, is it so bad
When you started out, did you rely on pre-calculated foods/shakes for your dds? Or did you jump in and figure your food out all by yourself? |

Yep. I use left over cambridge shakes, broth etc.
There are other people who make lots of nice things, see KierasMom posts for starters, and I cannot recall the names of the others (sorry!) I eat a little veg, but mainly just skip food altogether. I find it easier than fannying around with a bunch of little foods. There are LOADS in the DD recipes, too - so look there - I just find avoiding it much easier ![]() No, it is not bad to use those that way and afaik, slimfast doesn't have sugar, does it? You could also just skip em - as you do not *have* to use all 500~ calories. You just should use all the UP day ones. Welcome and Best Wishes! |

Ok, trying to plan ahead so tomorrow runs smoothly. This is what I'm tentatively planning for my first dd-
-2 hard boiled eggs 142 calories -1 sf shake 200 calories (I think one of these on my dd's will help me transition into this whole thing). -lc tortilla shell 50 calories -turkey 60 calories -Italian dressing 50 calories (might cut this in half, to just 1tbsp and trim off 25 calories) Total: 502 calories for the day So right on my target of 500 calories, and it's still pretty low carb as well. I'll also drink three cans of diet splenda coke and then lots of water. How does this look? Last edited by mom23kids; 11-07-2012 at 11:43 AM.. |

Loads of suggestion in the DD recipe thread Mom23.
Sounds as if you have a good plan there though. |

Weight Watchers and Lean Cuisine have some frozen meals that are under 200 calories. I used to get the Weight Watcher's Senta Fe Chicken for 140 calories. I used a lot of celery and cucumbers in the beginning. The bulk really helped.
I'll post some helpful links in a bit. |

I've just started (around day 14) on JUDDD, but I find that lean protein like a boiled egg, roasted chicken breast, and cold cooked shrimp, are my go-to choices, along with coffee with 1 T. HWC in the morning. That works well for me, and I've been able to keep my calories around 300/day on DDs. I occasionally eat some celery or radishes if I feel like I need to chew something substantial/crunchy to feel satisfied.
