DD Mini Meal idea thread
I was thinking this, then JBinME said it, so I figure, let's do it:
concept: some people find having multiple mini meals (or Barbie meals ) throughout a DD can help stave off the hunger and make the day easier. Some people eat each hour, or every 2hrs. So let's post some thoughts for mini meals-- 20, 30, 40, 50 calorie tidbits that you can have through the day to stave off the hunger monster! Ok-- go! S. |

Great idea. I'm interested to see what you all come up with. I'd like to try it, but I'm too lazy to do the research on my own.

Here's what I did yesterday, but I think I need to do less food, more often. Still, this might work for some: 2 hb eggs, 1T lite mayo, all mashed (140+40=180) 3 kavli super thin crackers (50) take the above, divide into 4 or 6 mini meals 1 cup almond milk (add davinci, 0) 40cal 1 bag of slaw or broccoli slaw = 100 or so (stir fry, good for or 3 good sized meals) low fat sausage-- 100 or 125... mix with the above, divide up. I don't count cals in some lite soya sauce or sriacha cheese wedge - 23 (light laughing cow) magic pop - 15 ok, that's it for me for now. I think Pat and Ouiz have some great ideas too! S. |

I divided a wee can of tuna (80) and a sliced zucchini (45) into three meals.
Stir fried slaw twice. (50 each) BP coffee w one tsp butter only (33) Went nuts and had a 75 cal egg at the end of the day. So, seven Barbie meals, 333 cals. Pretty satisfying. ![]() |

Woweee, lot's of great ideas - thank you! Gonna pick up some PB2, probably chocolate - didn't realize the calorie count was so low on that product.
Here are a few things I've been eating for mini-meals lately: Boiled egg, white only: 17-25 calories depending on your egg Romaine heart lettuce, small inside of head 132 grams, dipped in favorite Walden Farms dressing: 22 calories Scandinavian Bran Crispbread, spread with Walden Farms fruit spread (groovin' on apricot currently) 12 calories Beef broth 1 cup with cabbage 40gm: 26 calories Gelatin Gummy candies made with 1 Tablespoon gelatin, stevia and koolaide mix, etc.: 35 calories I can spread these over a couple of hours or longer.

I saw this list before and it seems pretty useful (although most of these are just vegetables, and who would eat 50 radishes since they are 1 calorie each)

Kim's magic pops or Kim's deli pops. You can google them. I order them since I don't see them in stores around here. I really like them!

I haven't tried these. I guess the first description I read said they're like rice cakes, which I hated, so I didn't give them a second thought. Now I'm seeing lots of you using them, and I'm curious.
I see there are quite a few flavors. Which ones do you guys recommend, and what toppings do you like? Also, do you order them in big batches? That's all I can find, either on their site, or on amazon. Thanks! |

LCG that is the same way I feel about Magic Pops and always wonder if they are like rice cakes
if so.....I shall pass! Can't find them around here and the assortment on Amazon has strawberry flavored and though I love strawberries I am not a fan of the flavor. So can anyone enlighten us please. |

I hate rice cakes but Stew Leonard's rice cakes (NY NJ CT) I love and those pops might be like them. They are "popped" and have a really good flavor-not like packing material. 15 cals each.

The Deli pops are like rice cakes, but in my opinion, better. The magic pops are like crispy discs- pretty big for 15 calories. I have tried 5 or 6 flavors- they are all pretty good. I put laughing cow light and turkey pepperoni on the plain or onion ones. The cinnamon ones I sometimes put PB2 on or walden farms 0 calorie spreads. The strawberry ones are even alright in a strange kinda way.
