Yesterday I did 1/8 cup basmati rice with 1/4 cup pinto beans (cooked from dried) twice for 86 calories each time according to an online calculator. I'm not really a fan of rice but eat it anyway since beans aren't a complete protein.

Ok - tomorrow (Monday) will be my first try on the Barbie meal plan. I modified it a bit to fit my schedule at work and because I have a Dr appt tomorrow evening.
10am - 1/2 container of Trader Joes egg white salad and a magic pop (65) 11am - 1/2 a red pepper (22) Noon- repeat 10am (65) 1pm - 1/2 sliced cucumber and 1/2 a light laughing cow cheese on a magic pop (55) 2 pm - red pepper slices (22) 3 pm - repeat 1 pm (55) 4 pm - cup of cherry tomatoes (30) 7pm - spinach salad (3 cups) w bacon bits (2 T) and boiled egg white, spray dressing (100) 9pm - half a bag of freeze dried strawberries (65) Comes to about 475 cals and seems like a lot of food! Certainly a lot of volume and good veggie fiber with over 30 grams of protein. I would welcome input from any of you who have tried this before! |

Thanks for the info on Deli and Magic pops. I think the Magic pops sound better and I may have to try them at some point. Just not up to ordering a 12 pack online, and then worry I won't like them!
Soren, you look FANTASTIC! Glad you can check in while you're away. Have FUN! |

Some Thoughts On Why We Should Do This
In researching my mysterious ailment, I've come across one risk of fasting that had never occurred to me. Some research suggests that fasting can contribute to the formation of gallstones. If you go long periods without eating, your bile is sitting about, helping to allow calcification of cholesterol--which is apparently more prevalent in this part of your system when you're losing weight.
I have been fasting or nearly fasting every other day for about four months now. Instead of adopting Pat's practice of many mini-meals, I have consistently preferred to forego everything but dinner and/or fast all day on nothing but bulletproof coffee in the morning. I'm no longer going to follow that practice just in case. So count me on board for the mini meals. |

Just a suggestion for a 25-calorie mini meal.....a prune! I buy those individually wrapped prunes, Sunsweet Ones. They are super moist. I do realize, however, that not everyone likes prunes.
When I was growing up, that was one of my dad's favorite snacks, so I learned to love them too! ![]() |

Hi PJ - glad you are back and OK after the storm. The tomatoe pie comes from an italian bakery (I'll have to go find the name) and is distributed in grocery stores in our area (Giant, Pathmark, Acme). It's like a deep dish pizza without any cheese. Just bread and a thickish, delicious sauce. It has calorie counts on it and for a really good size slice (rectangle 4"x6" I am guessing) it only has 130 calories. I heat till crisp and add hot peppers, sometimes other veggies and if I have calories available a shake of parmesan. I don't miss the cheese at all. A nice indulgence for relatively low cals and because of the thickness of it it is pretty filling. I'll look for the box and report back on the brand so you can search for it in your area if you are so inclined.

Oh, thanks! I don't need the brand info...I was just curious what kind of pie you were talking about!
