Good decision Angie, have fun!

Carly, I am glad you have made the appt. You need to have the conversation and then think it through. I am pleased to read how your pain has been well controlled Shari.

Welcome to JUDDD Mom23. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Having a good day here, good Zumba class with a new instructor, a male ballet dancer. Excellent. Then a face treatment followed by some Xmas shopping. So far I've only had a miso soup and a small soya coffee.

A male bellydancer Does he do amazing bellyrolls? Did he have you drilling with zills? Sounds like a fab fun class!

Carly, so glad you're addressing the spine issues. It takes time to ponder options like this, sounds like you're taking the steps that need to be taken

Welcome, Mom23Kids! You must have incredible will power to take on a new diet with kiddo's around. They will be watching you, and probably learn some valuable lessons, even if it's just planting seeds. You're a powerful role model, WTG!!

Angie, let the wind blow your hair and enjoy the feasting and dancing

I am sure he could, but I wrote Ballet dancer not Belly dancer. He did a few leaps and pirouettes though.

I'm back from my appointment. He's sending me for a cat scan with contrast that will be injected like an epidural. The X-rays he took in his office can't really show if or where a nerve is being compressed.

So his office will get everything authorized and I'll go for that and then see. He did say that there are newer surgeries that could help my neck, but he understands that I'm not there yet.

BTW my surgeon is extremely handsome- seriously- like model material- DW has a man crush on him- it's so cute- she said she won't wash her hand that he shook

Carly, it's good that he's running more tests! Was your surgery in your neck? Mine was & I had C6 & C7 fused. I'm curious to learn what new surgeries are available now. I hope the CT scan is scheduled soon. Waiting is the pits!!

I had L1-S5 through L4 fused. When we were looking at the X-rays today, it still amazes me that all that metal is holding me together and how funny it looks on the big films. I will need something done at some point to C4 and C5. He was showing me disc replacement and that you don't lose range of motion. It started to sound like "wah-wah... wah-wah". I'm totally not there right now. When I had my fusion I was out of work for 5 months. He said it was probably going to be 8 months, so I guess 5 mos was a quick recovery!?! I had it in Feb. 2009. He was very impressed by my weightloss, however and congratulated me.

I'll go for the ct scan and see what it shows. That is down in the lumbar area where the fusion is.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow Jacci, what a year you have had.

Hope all is going well Dawn.

Seems so many BUDDDs are going through a lot of difficult things just now, both healthwise and with the aftermath of Sandy.

Makes me count my blessings.

Wow. I have a congenital L4 - sacrum fusion. No metal but I have a tiny inkling of what you must be going through. I often wonder if that affects me when I have thoracic or cervical issues. I have very strong legs though and can do crazy heavy leg presses. I consider that my silver lining. .

Yes, well I can squat and balance with the best of them. I can clean the cat litter box by remaining in a squatted position the whole time. Scoop, squat, scoop, etc...

I pray my knees hold out- for that I am grateful and I'm sure my knees are thrilled that I do not weigh 200 pounds anymore. My arms are flabby, but under all that extra skin I have killer bicepts since I still move my lower boby by lifting my entire body by pressing myself up with my arms.

I've become very accoustom to most of this, but really, really don't want anymore surgical "enhancements" to my spine.

It must be pretty common for those of us who've had back surgery learn to use our legs more. Of course, if I'd used my legs more in the first place, I may not have ruptured a disc. But, then, who knows. I used to have such tiny, skinny legs that people laughed at me. A good friend of mine who I hadn't seen in about 10 years came to see me a few years ago. She almost had a fit when she saw my muscular legs!!! She could NOT believe I finally had REAL legs! LOL!!

Anyway, Carly, you'll know if & when you reach a point of needing surgery. It was 3 months before I could lay in my own bed. And you obviously had an awful long time to heal as well! Just take care of yourself. At my age, unless something is really unbearable, I just keep on keeping on. You & Dawn are young enough to make changes & still live a good quality of life.

The more info, the better. It'll help you make your decision, I'm sure. 8 months recovery is really something, but if it'll help. Cute about Dr. Handsome, and DW's man-crush!

We are waiting for payday so we have very little groceries in the house! I keep slipping up! My husband works at a pizza place so when money gets slim he usually brings home a free pizza to help, bless his sweet heart. Great for our budget, but not very good for down days.

I keep slipping but I am hoping that since tomorrow is payday we can get some good stuff in the house again and I can get right back on the wagon! *fingers crosses*

Hi Everyone,

Good vibes to all who need them.

I injured my sacroiliac (left lower back) last week and wow does that hurt! It is very slowly feeling better, may go back to my chiro tomorrow, or maybe for accupuncture.

I had a great DD yesterday - probably due to the fact that I had to break up with my boyfriend Tuesday night - I saw some completely unacceptable texts on his phone. My stomach is in knots, might as well use it to my advantage!

Have a good one everyone

MellaBella, Good vibes right back atcha. Sounds like you could use them too. Must say that you really made lemonade out of that breakup situation. Sorry for the pain, both back and boyfriend.

HIYE, I totally understand the grocery issue. Sometimes we just have to do the best we can and be thankful for the pizza. I have been out of work since our store closed in January and there have been some scary moments but always a roof over my head and something to eat, PTL. In our area there are many food pantries or food bank distributions for people on tough times and I have taken advantage when necessary. Google Feed America to find one near you. This is donated food that would have been thrown out from groceries or manufacturers due to overstock. You never know what you are going to get and it is good to know how to utilize large quantities of very ripe produce in the summer as it needs to be used right away. Where I am, they just ask your first name so they can keep count of how many people are using it. You don't need to prove income or anything like that, just show up and get in line. If you feel your situation warrants it, you might check it out in your area.

So sorry about the ex-BP issues, Mella. Like you need to deal with that on top of your back pain.

Melissa, I have actually had pizza on a DD! I do tend to save most of my calories until dinnertime, and just had one piece, but it worked for me that day! And was delicious. If that's what helps your budget, you can do it too! You could fill up on celery and cucumber (sorry Cindy) during the day if you need to.

Yep! In fact, I seem to swing from one extreme to the other. Several have recommended Diamotaceous Earth for this, but I just haven't gotten around to trying it.

Well we are none the wiser! Biopsy results arent back but consultant put a camera up Hubbies nose and down his throat and its a 3.5 cm growth which isnt attached to his voice box (which is good). Consultant said it could well be malignant but that this type of cancer isnt a bad one to get and it would not kill him and shouldnt spread, which is good again.
He is going to have it removed whatever it is becauser if it isnt nasty yet it could turn in the future. We are ok to go on holiday as by all accounts a week wont make much difference. We do both feel a lot better about things now which is good yet again! In some ways because I was in a similar position this year we can both empathise with each other and we deffo feel even closer now which I suppose is good again!!
Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts they really do mean a lot.xx

That's great news, Jacci. I mean, in this situation it's about as good of news as you can get. Wonderful that it's treatable and not as dangerous as it could be. Breathing a sigh of relief for you and DH. Now you can enjoy that vacation.

Great news Jacci. Hope you can relax & focus on the holiday now (I'm sure you will)! We've been waiting for job-related news this week & while its not comparable to your situation, I understand about finding it hard to stay on plan while waiting. I def don't wait well

On the plus side, our news was also good & we're getting away this weekend without our kiddies so we're happy. There might well be 2 UDs in a row...I do believe I'm looking forward to them too
