Asking for suggestions

Tuesday I'm having cataract surgery...big surprise, I think everyone is aware of it as I've spoken about it for the last week. Guess I'm just showing my nervousness about the surgery. I know! I have friends and family who have had the surgery, done some research about it, and had my pre-op appointment today to set it all up. I guess I'm resigned if not accepting the need for it.

I'm not asking about that and will hold my nervousness in check, but Tuesday is a scheduled up day. That means the day before the surgery is DD and I'm wondering if I should change that so that Tuesday will be down...I won't be able to eat anything until after the surgery, which will be in the afternoon, so it will be hard to hit goal. I'm thinking I should probably stick to my rotation and just have Tuesday turn into a MD, then have my UD on Wednesday, and start my rotations again.

Has anyone had experience with anything like this? And, I'm open to any suggestions...How should I handle the rotations?

First . . . ! I hope you get all out of it that you're hoping to. Sadly, I know nothing about cataract surgery.

Second, I like your second option better. Or even just don't worry about food for a few days while you're on the mend. I don't know if there's going to be a lot of inflammation, but you're probably going to be retaining water to make whatever repairs are needed after your surgery anyway, and may even need a little more fuel for the process.

I'm sure whatever you decide will work out just fine.

Mary, my DH, MIL & my DH's grandmother had cataract surgery within the SAME year!! Good grief! They all did really well. Both of my parents have since had it as well.

I agree with Dawn......maybe take a few days to recover then start your rotations again. Stress from healing is enough at one time.

Good luck!
Shari

Mary, I don't have experience with this, but your plan sounds like a good one. I also want to send best wishes for your procedure. The people I know who have had it done have loved their improved vision afterwards.

Hi, my name is Linda. I had both eyes done this year. It is real easy. I was driving the same day. You are not sick or anything after it. You just can't get over how you really couldn't see color. You will love it.

Thanks for the suggestions and thoughts, 'preciate it...maybe you're right, I should just concentrate on healing and not worry about rotations...after all, this has been a medium month with no weight loss. I really miss the "up" feelings, tho' so was trying to really adhere to this woe...get back into the groove. I guess I'll see how it goes and how I'm feeling afterwards.

thanks Linda. I can't really see the difference yet and the only thing I'm noticing is the haloes and print type is certainly getting smaller. I know it will make a difference, just wondering what it will make in my life.

Mary, all the best with it. When my mum had it done last year, she said she was weepy driving home because of the vivid colours she hadn't realized she was missing.

Good luck on your procedure!! My mom just had it done a few weeks ago -- and she was fine!

I think your plan sounds great! Being able to stay in control but not restricting yourself

Let us know how it goes !

Good luck and speedy recovery. As far as rotations go, just do what ever feels right for the first day or 2 after.

I support the 'ignore the rotations, concentrate on healing' idea. I also think Sunday and Monday should be an UD - carry energy into your surgery. You found you were eating too little, didn't you? Treat this time like a vacation. Get that energy up! You will be back on the rotation in no time.

I agree with focusing on healing and not on rotations. My friend just had the surgery and is thrilled with her results. Wishing you a speedy recovery and all the best!

Yes, this woe is certainly grand...thanks for all the kind thoughts. It's certainly helping me with my anxiety and I know all the results point toward a real improvement. For someone who loves to read as much as I do (DH always hated my nose in a book) I've been really apprehensive about surgery to the eyes. I'll be fine and to all for your kind thoughts...
