Down days conflicting with social obligations

I'm on my fifth day of JUDD and have already had a bit of weight loss after being stalled for a month doing Atkins/primal/nutritional ketosis (net carbs under 30 grams/day, protein around 45 grams/day, calories around 1200/day). Yesterday was a down day in which I was crazy hungry and ended up doing a medium day of around 800 calories, but the scale was down a pound in the morning.

My question is this: I have a couple of social obligations coming up, seeing friends and going to concerts in the evening, which will probably be preceded by my either making (lowcarb) dinner for all of us or our going out to eat at a restaurant. Unfortunately, the dates of the concerts coincide with down days for me (where I'm doing 300-500 calories). How do I switch over the order of my JUDDD days without losing the JUDDD advantage? For example, do I insert a medium day and then proceed as usual, which would then make my up days coincide with the concert days? Do I do 2 DD or 2 UD in a row, to change the dates when my up dates fall? Or doesn't it matter? I'm a newbie to JUDDD who has a really hard time losing weight, so I'd like to be as faithful to JUDDD as possible, without messing up these social occasions.

Thanks for your advice.

I think the standard procedure is just what you described - to insert a MD and get your UDs and DDs switched around. I've done that once for a social event and it worked just fine.

2 UDs or 2 DDs in a row does not seem to be recommended, as it interferes with the SIRTs, and also if you do 2 DDs, you may make your body go into starvation/fat conservation mode. You definitely DON'T want that!

Good luck getting switched over, and enjoy your outings with your friends!

Yup, a MD would be the way to go. Insert a MD (add UD and DD calories, then divide by 2) after a DD and voila! Your rotation has been changed. We recommend the MD after the DD so that you have another UD before your next DD and go into it well fueled. Some do okay with UD, MD, DD, but I haven't tried it that way. When I've used a MD, I've done DD, MD, UD (think small, medium, large) if that makes sense.

Thanks, that's very helpful. And small, medium, large is a good way to remember what to do.

The more I do this, the more I'm liking doing a high DD (for me, that's about 800-900 calories) and burning about 200 calories or so in exercise that day to help offset it. Then I feel like it's more a DD than a MD.
