I had that thought today, what if we had to go to the vet on top of all this (my greys are accident prone, to put it mildly).

We've had a storm-related fatality in Toronto

A woman was killed by debris from a sign at a store (a Staples store).

I noticed one of my neighbors has their garbage out tonight! Another one has a metal grid thing sitting by the curb. Geniuses

It's calmed down a lot. 5 death in my county 2 were young kids killed in their house when a tree chrashed through the roof. No work tomorrow. Maybe I" ll be able to cook up some good UD food. Today was a challenging DD and I'm still hungry after my bedtime snack. Good night all.

Thanks Shari-- 11:42pm here, they said it would hit worst around midnight, so who knows what is still to come.
My poor DH walked our greys in the wind and rain, they all came back (!) looking like drowned rats-- and all 3 had coats on of course!

Now I"m sitting in the living room, and the wind around the house literally sounds like a jet is taking off thisclose to me. CRAZY. then it dies down...

So far we have power, so I'm going to fill one more bathtub just in case, and take something to help me sleep... See ya'll in the morning for the report.

Made it through with only a couple blinks on the electricity. Haven't looked outside to asses the damage, but down in Fairfield county it's not pretty.

No work today and I think I'll do some cooking today too.

Curves, I am so sorry that you had to allow your beloved cat to go. I have 2 of a similar age and dread the thought of losing them.

DW and I are good- we even have power, but that is the exception around here. No work of course and officials are begging us to stay off the roads for now. At least 5 deaths in my county 2 were children under 14. A tree feel on their home and killed them instantly

I hope all my other JBs are doing OK

glad you and DW are ok.

Toronto had 1 fatality, a sign came loose and fell on a woman and killed her. Lots around town without power, due to the falling trees and tree limbs.
There was one fire in a store downtown, not sure yet if it was storm related, or just really bad timing.

I live in a relatively new neighborhod (15+yrs) so our power lines are buried, and the trees are still young.
So no loss of power for us, thankfully.
I can still hear the wind, but it sounds less like a 747 and more like, um, loud wind.

I still have the tub filled though, just in case, through today and tomorrow.

Curves likely has no power. I think she is in the city and everyone south of 42nd street is in the dark from what I hear. They say those without power will wait more than a week. The best friend of the 11 year old who died is on TV right now- sobbing

Oh my gosh, that's so tragic. My heart goes out to all who are struggling with the storm, with losses of loved ones, with power outages, and with property losses. Yes, they are just things, but when that thing is your home and your memories, it can be just devastating.

Slight house damage here and no power since last night so got to -ahem- clean out a freezer full of defrosted disgusting LC supplies and baked goods from years past. Hoping the power comes back soon or I will be grilling a whole freezer full of meat. It's cold and I want a hot shower waaah! We have a place down at the Jersey Shore which got a direct hit but the roads are still closed to there so don't know yet the damage. It was evacuated so no neighbors to report in. News reports looked pretty bad. Hope everyone stayed safe!

TJ, sorry you have to manage without hot water and heat. Although it is annoying to lose the freezer food at least you are forced to start with a clean slater when things get back to normal.

Hope you place on the shore is okay.

Longing to hear that all our other Budds are safe.

TJ- I'm glad you and yours are safe and hope your place at the shore is alright.

I spoke with my sister who is staying with friends on the upper west side. She lives on Wall Street and they were under water and in the dark down there. She said in a couple days she will have to climb the 27 flights to get more clothes and medication if her power in not back by then, but is enjoying her stay in a $1 million apartment!

TJ-- is it cold enough where you are to keep things outside in a cooler? That was our plan here, and it's what we did during the big blackout way back when.. Glad you're ok, hope the damage on your buildings is minimal.
