I feel the need to confess...

I ate 1/2 a baskin robbins ice cream cake (serves 6) last night.

I had my whole UD planned out, I had about 200 calories left after dinner...

I dropped my friend off after dinner and a movie (where I had a small bag of popcorn, no butter... accounted for those calories), and we went to a mexican chain place (I had a chicken salad, no cheese, no sour cream, a bit of guac)...

And I dropped her off and the baskin robbins is right next to her apt, and I called DH and said, I'm getting this cake, you in?

We each ate half the cake. THen, I followed it up with a flatout wrap with ham and brie.

There-- I said it, all of it.

so, if the calorie counts are right, my 2000 cal well planned day went UP to about 3000 calories.

I have nothing by way of explanation-- I think *maybe* I had too many carbs during the day yesterday (though, on plan) and that left me hungry after dinner. But my choices were not great at that point, and it is what it is.

Needless to say, today is a DD and I'm doing everything I can to make it successful-- BPT with coconut oil in it, and planning a nice dinner, and will drink a lot of water during the day (which is also something I've not been doing much of lately).

I'm not totally freaking out or anything, that Juddd Calm is still in the air.
I just didn't want to pretend like I'm perfect, b/c I'm not (really, really not), and I know this isn't about blame or guilt, and I just wanted to share.

Soren.

I do not know why this cracks me up but it does. :

We're human, we're putting this food thing and weight thing in a saner perspective with JUDDD. We're learning to be diligent and honest with ourselves, we're sharing information and support.

And then THIS happens!!

It reminds me not to take ourselves too, too seriously.

You're the best, Soren. I'll dream about your cake while I'm sipping on my DD gruel tomorrow. Today, however, I might see about some ice cream.

LOLOL!! Good thing I wasn't riding along with you, 'cause after you'd ordered the ice cream cake, I'd have talked you into eating half right there.. and I'd have eaten the other half with you. Your DH wouldn't have had any. I LOVE Baskin Robbins. LOVE their Jamoca Almond Fudge ice cream.

And I LOVE JUDDD because I can eat this stuff without being off plan, without ruining my *diet*, and without a blip on the radar when it comes to either weight loss or level maintenance. So not worried about you at all.

Wish we had a Baskin Robbins in this town.

What kind was it, Soren? God, I hope it was a flavour I like. It'd be a drag to try to work my fantasy around a strawberry ice cream cake.

I love that you pointed out that the half cake serves 6. Not last night!

My favorite UD sweet is from a place called Nothing Bundt Cakes. Their white-white chocolate bundtlette is to die for!

Those days do happen! I've tried, and tried to figure out what triggers one of "those" for me, and I've never had any luck. It just sort of....happens. Good for you for not freaking out, and moving on.

In fact, I've been noticing lately that folks who have an UUAD seem to jumpstart something. They have a bounce from their "incident" and then get a whoosh down to a new low? Anyone else noticed that? Anyway, that's what I wish for you! A lovely, yummy treat, a calm response, and a WHOOOSH!

Oh, heck, I have those a LOT. Last night i went to Smashburger for dinner (had about 1100 calories left for the day). Had a small hickory/bacon/cheddar burger and fries for dinner. Then walked out and saw Peachwave right next door and went "I'm going IN". And tested out three different flavors!

I'm guessing I bumped my 2000 calories up to about 2500. One thing I knew for sure, I wasn't going to be hungry when I got up this morning.

(My excuse was it's freakin' TOM again...)

K- it was gold medal ribbon with chocolate cake.
White frosting, I think faux whipped cream and jujubes/swedish berries on top
The whole cake serves 6, so I had 3 servings.

I you guys !

Oh Soren! I'm bonding with you right now, sister I had a UUAD yesterday like I've never had yet on JUDDD. 900 calories for breakfast (!), then out to an unexpected late lunch out with DH (I'm not going to say no to that!) for I-don't-know-how-many calories. I thought, I've used up my calories, I'll just have little or nothing for dinner. That's nothing for someone who can do a down day, right?

Later, what was supposed to be a little snack turned into: a four pack of nutter butters, 1.5 pretzel rolls, a twice baked potato, most of a container of supermarket california rolls, many pieces of soft licorice, and milk. I was full of cravings, but nothing was satisfying. So strange!

So confession time for me too, but I also have the JUDDD calm. I see my mistakes, but I know what to do: have a nice down day and then right back in to normal rotations. The good thing is I so far have zero hunger on this DD. wonder why?

I don't even confess events like this. Really. Anymore, I don't even think of them as anything I have to *get over*... like I errored and have something to feel guilty about. These incidents are fun. I intend to have a whole lot more of them as the weeks and months of my life continue. With JUDDD, it's just no big deal. It's how I get to live now!!!!! So very enjoyable.

Pat - I love it! Great perspective.

For now, I'm pleased with my calm. I'm not beating myself up, I'm not freaking out, I know it will be just fine. I know I don't have to be perfect on this WOE, which is why it's the one for me! Someday I'll hope to go even farther in my perspective to where you are, but right now I *am* reluctant to do anything to slow down my progress. I have so far to go ..... It's so great to know, though, that this event really won't slow it down much. It's not like I've thrown my body out of ketosis and have to start all over again, for example. I JUDDD!

That was just a day. No big deal. What is one day in the course of your life? A down day corrects your course. Freedom baby.
I've had to give up regular ice cream. Body just cannot do the cow milk thing anymore. Son brought haagen-dazs home the other day and just a serving tried to kill my insides. Bah

Oh Soren, I can definitely relate! Sometimes I just knowingly eat a ton of stuff that wasn't part of my planned menu, and I might feel a twinge of "...oops", but I get over it quickly because I've had a number of these types of incidents over the past year and they haven't derailed me from JUDDD or affected my overall weight loss. They're usually not anything I'm craving or feel I'm really depriving myself of either. I just sometimes get the urge to splurge. It's like an impulse purchase of two pairs of cute shoes one day when I hadn't planned on buying any at all.

Love the JUDDD calm!

We did I think someone mentioned this somewhere else, but if you're going to do it, don't waste it, ya know? I actually drove around the stripmall determining if I should get a brownie at the coffee place or the cake, and then I mulled over the type of cake, flavor, etc.

Today's DD was pretty good. Both Dh and I had some of the chillys, but getting through it and sticking to my allotment for the day.

you guys are the best!

Soren,

Having the liberty to do such a thing is "why" I'm in love with this diet. Not that we have permission but that each day is a new day. Each UD I feel like I'm blowing it, and each DD I feel like I'm getting a new slate. So cool.

My husband is a trim, athletic type. Our tastes in desserts are polar opposites. Boy, am I ever glad!

Ahhhh... sounds like fun. I sure miss having a partner in crime. It is much more fun to split the cake in half with someone!! Now, I am going to have to think about what flavor B and R cake I would have gotten. Maybe something with salted caramel- my newest obsession.

You're not alone, but I think a lot of us just don't confess!!
