Cold weather!
For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere...is anyone else having trouble losing weight (or gaining weight) and wanting to eat more in the cold weather? Or else just freezing?
(I've had to realize that, at the very least, I need to wear more layers now that, after losing some weight, I have less "insulation" this year than the past couple years) |

I'm always chilled on down days, it is a known fasting effect and boy do I have it.
I actually lose better when the weather turns cool. I'm so happy with soups and lovely warm foods. Just have to make sure I don't overdo on starchy stuff. I love sweaters, wooly socks, boots, cuddly blankets, ponchos, the works. I also drink hot water all day every day year round which helps warm me up. Ditto hot baths. |

Anytime the body has to work harder to keep you warm, you burn more calories so I try to embrace the coming cold days. A book (FLip the Switch) talks about the many ways to keep the metabolism running high and getting used to being a little bit cold is one of them. I try to keep my head and feet warm and let the rest feel deliciously cool.

Definitely feeling a lot colder in this weather lately. I am not going to complain as other posters have said as it means i got rid of most of my fat stores.

My first shot at JUDDD I lost 20 lbs in 2 months and was freezing for the first month, it was great! I actually look forward to it now because hot flashes have reared their ugly head again and I'd much rather be freezing than roasting.

I feel the DD shivers more now that the weather is cold, didn't notice as much in the summer, but I started in April and was cold all the time then too.
I try not to eat more, so I go for hot liquids-- tea (some flavors have chili in them, and definitely spicy chai flavors), as well as broth, and miso soup. I'm not usually cold on UDs though ![]() |

I have 2, yes 2 electric blankets. I get the DD shivers all year, but now I'm starting to be a bit chilly on UDs too. I have less insulation and definitely recall before getting heavy that I was cold most of the time. I learned this summer the value of layers and having an extra sweater at both of my offices. I have read too, that we burn calories more efficiently if we are cold, but I'm not quite ready to embrace being cold... I'm a work in progress.

Oh my goodness, I get it baaaaddddd!
![]() I complain about it too. I'm in australia and we are in spring at the moment but at I am still complaining.. ![]() I love the hot, would rather drip in sweat than be cold. THEN I started Judddd and geez, those DD's....... I cannot wait till summer. Some days I get home from work and curl up in bed shaking. You would think I'd been stuck in snow for days! Carly, my electric blanket has become one of my 'deserted island' items (assuming the island is cold, of course ) |

I live in one of the coldest areas of the USA. Being cold doesn't make me hungrier. Look at the bright side... not so many bbq odors in the air.

Ginger tea is great if you feel the cold. Gives you a lovely gentle glow!
You can use the lemon & ginger teabags that are easy to find in supermarkets, or you can infuse fresh grated ginger root in some boiling water. My Dad used to take ginger tincture for his cold feet in winter. Worked like a charm but not always easy to find. |

I was freezing last night. I slept with sweats, sweatshirt, socks, and two comforters, and woke up to a 3 pound whoosh this morning. Shivering burns calories!

Not looking forward to this cold snap.
But I love soups when it is really cold and they are usually low calorie as those are the one I choose or I make my my own a lot too. |
