Tanya- I'm praying for you and your family. I don't know how things work in your county, but if for some reason you get a denial, you should be able to apeal the decision. The county where I work often denies people/ families that truly need help, but a fair hearing usually clears up any issues.

Well....got the notice about the food stamps and health insurance today.....denied.

I figured as much....gosh I am soooo very angry at the moment. I was embarassed to have to apply, now more so to be denied. They said it was due to our home. We own a 1972 mobile home, which is considered a vehicle. And since we already own 2 vehicles, besides the mobile home, we would have to sell one to come under requirements. Seriously, I just want to scream.....what the crap......such a lame excuse. I seriously cant drive my home! I need the cars! This was temporary issue, not a permanent thing.....why would they want us to make such a permanent choice!

About 3 weeks ago I recieved a letter that said we werent a dire need family due to not having elderly or immigrents in our household. But I thought for sure since I have 2 kids in our home we would atleast get health insurance. I dont know.....

Hubby has a job interview tomorrow. Fingers crossed!!

Katie, I'm so sorry you're suffering so. I, too, had a rough time raising my girls on very little money back in the day. One thing I discovered that you should check out is buying eyeglasses online. The mark-up on those things is obscene! Check out Zenni Optical. I've ordered several pairs of glasses from them and have been very happy. They have a way to upload a picture and "try on" glasses to get an idea of how they'll look, and they have extremely precise measurements to go by. I measured a pair of glasses I had that looked pretty good on me and went from there. I hope this helps and that you'll get back on your feet pretty soon!

Hi Katiebubb...I'm Jan, new here. I still giggle when i think of you telling me about DDPP..

Ya know there is something just WRONG when a hard working family falling on hard times can't get a little help. To consider your home a vehicle is outrageous!!!

Best of luck with DH job interview. Things can only get better, right?

Take good care of you through all this.

Tanya - I'm so sorry you didn't get the benefits. I have huge problems with the way our system refuses to help hard working people who just need a temporary hand, but has no problem keeping other, able bodied people on the dole for years on end. I'm so so sorry and hoping and praying for your husband's interview to be successful!

Don't get me going on benefits, I could go on all day. The system here certainly stinks.

Here's praying that DH gets the job. Sending hugs.

New here but wanted to give you lots of hugs & LOTS & LOTS of prayers & positive thoughts for DH's interviews. Just so sorry you're struggling so and the crappy system denied you any help.

Before my youngest child, I was a social worker. I'm not sure about services in your area, but have you tried 2-1-1 to see if there is anything else out there you may qualify for? We had a "first call for help" phone line (should be the same thing these days as 211) where you could call and they had the big area resource book/services to try to fit you in to anything that might be an option. They were always super helpful! I am not sure if I can link things on this site, but if you google 211 for your area, there should be a link. If I can help research or anything for you, please pm me!
