JUDDD over 14 weeks
Hi Folks,
My DH is starting JUDDD (has lost about 6lbs since Oct 2 :jumpjoy: ) and I thought I'd colled Steph Dray's weekly posts for him to read through. As we all know, she's articulate, concise, and of course writes well. I think she was also a bit skeptical :annoyed: which gives good perspective on trying a new way of eating, and she has an active lifestyle of going places and facing challenges to this WOE. I thought I'd post the links to the 1st of weekly threads here as well, b/c I'm sure other folks will find this useful. Maybe it could be a sticky? :dunno: *I couldn't find the link to week 2 So here you go, our own Steph Dray's weekly journey through JUDDD: Steph Dray’s JUDDD journey Week by week, link to first post: 1. Thanks Soren! I think this will be a big help for newcomers. Steph surely writes well and made note of many experiences that JUDDD Buds encounter- The Good, The Bad and the What's Up with That!
|
I came late to the party, but gotta say, if I had read Steph's first reports before starting this, might have been scared away. I hate pain.
|
I just read them all again! Fun to see a summary of 3 months in one read, especially the transformation from "I'm skeptical; we'll see" to "this has pros and cons" to "I'm a believer!"
|
Btw, under "advanced search", you can type in a member's name, and then click on the drop down menu to "find threads started by user".
|
Thanks PJ! I did try a bunch of advanced searches looking for just Steph and the word(s) week/weeks, one/1, etc, but somehow overlooked week 2! It would be great to get it in the OP if possible.
Christina-- I know, right? It think it's great though... healthy skepticism is not a bad thing. :) |
Thank you so much for posting this! Lots of valuable stuff to read for those of us just beginning.

Week 15

Wow
I'll say more when I get home from my trip because I'm all thumbs typing on my phone, but I love you all so much!!!
|
Soren, you are an angel to put all this together!!!
Stephanie, not only am I really, really enjoying your communicative and informative postings, I am also looking forward to the book! I envision the last chapter titled something like One Year Of Maintenance - Still Slender. (I also wonder what psuedoname it will be published under.) |

Ok, now I'm home and I don't know what to say except that I hope my postings help people get healthier and I'm honored by the friendship I've found here with my JUDDD BUDDDs.

I think that when anyone takes the time to share their personal experiences, as so many people do in the JUDDD forum and across LCF as well, they are doing it to connect for themselves, and to maybe help even 1 person who finds something similar with their own experience. And that is always worthwhile :) S. |
I'll add links to more of Steph's posts, but this is good reading for any November/December JUDDD newbies or anyone considering starting JUDDD in the new year!
:) S. |
This is so great! I actually went back and read all of these when I first started JUDDD, having them in one spot would have been way easier! If only this could get stickied.

:thanks:This is really great!
I was here (and enjoying the read) when Steph joined. When my daughter had her stroke, I missed a few posts. So... I'm SO happy to be able to read them. Thanks Soren! (Steph - you truly are an inspiration. I was worried when you first started. I so wanted you to be successful. And lookie - you are successful!):yahoo: |

How's your dh doing, Soren? Is he still JUDDDing?
|
Yes he is! He's at 282 I think today (which is after yesterday's UD) so he's hoping to be under 280 soon. I think he was around 300 when he started in October, and we both gained some during the holidays, so he's doing great.
It really suits his busy work days... on DDs, he has a shake at some point during the day, and then eats what I eat for dinner, plus a little (maybe extra fat, or a bit of chocolate). on UDs, he doesn't go nuts, but knows he doesn't have to worry too much... he's generally too busy to eat actually, so I always have to prompt him, remind him to take a lunch-- like salami and cheese-- and he keeps nuts at his desk and more shakes. He can have around 3000 cals on an up day, and it's really hard for him to eat them all. so, needless to say, he's actually losing well. AND, the biggest thing for him, is not going "off" like you would on LC-- one bite of pizza and you're done for the week or 2... he loves not having guilt, and not setting off on binges b/c "hey why not", ya know? |

Week 36 http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ju...l#post16316612 and my DH is down to 278, having started Oct 1/2012 at 303. :jumpjoy: that includes gaining a bit back over the holidays and basically losing most of it from 1/1/2013. |
WTG Soren's DH! Wish I could get mine to do it. He doesn't have much to lose & it would probably fall off really fast. But no one knows better than me that you lose when you're ready. :)
|
Yep! I started last April , and he didn't want to try (???) till October.
Ymmv, eh? |
