Bad breath on JUDDD?

My husband has been telling me I have bad breath lately. Anyone else experienced this? I can sense it, too. I wonder if it is similar to ketosis breath? Love JUDDD, but I would like to do JUDDD without bad breath. Any tips for me?

I haven't noticed, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened to me!

Altoids smalls are only 1/2 calorie each, so 2 for 1 calorie. I use them sometimes.

Ketosis breath, I'm sure. Especially if you are eating LC.
I chew Orbit......I had do something since I don't want my breath to kill my pts.

I'd agree it must be something to do with low carb, not alternate-day dieting, Christina. Eating less on some days shouldn't affect breath odor. Nice that you and your dh can be very honest!

I fast on DD until early evening and I feel like I have bad breath on those days. My husband confirms it sometimes when I ask, other times he says it's fine. It tastes bad to me on all DD. I tend to forget to drink much on DD so it's probably related.

I believe you can be in ketosis on JUDDD, since ketosis is just inefficient fat burning... I'm pretty sure I read it somewhere, sorry I can't quote.

Drink more water, brush and floss and chew sugarless gum, but if that's where it's coming from (ketones in your blood exiting your body from your lungs) there's not much you can do.

On the bright side-- appetite suppression and weight loss!

If I may suggest (although breath fragrance is a delicate issue!), when I did 'bulletproof coffee' DD's (i.e. only drinking the 'bulletproof coffee' recipe made of hot drinks/coconut oil/butter/and sweetner, and not eating any other food) I could not help noticing that I had lovely breath. Must have been the coconut oil.

Anyway... if you're not into trying that... brushing with baking soda can usually have a positive impact too (be sure to brush the tongue not just the teeth).

Mrs S, that's how it is for me too. I think it's mainly on DDs, especially when I don't eat until dinner, and the morning after DDs. I'm drinking coffee which probably doesn't help but is non-negotiable ... this week I started the bulletproof kind on DDs.

I'll try the biotene spray (thanks Luv2Eat!). I'm only low carb on down days, so I'm not sure if that's enough to trigger ketosis, but it just kind of feels like ketosis breath. I'm a teacher, so gum isn't a good idea on work days ... but I don't want to be that teacher with the bad breath either! I still remember one teacher we called "Bad Breath ____ (insert last name here)." Whitlin, one thing I love about my husband is that I always know what he's really thinking ... only the straight scoop from him.

I've noticed it too. Usually on DDs, but also on UDs when I don't eat until late in the day. I use liquid chlorophyll in my green tea or iced water. I think it helps.

I had that when I was doing LC DDs followed by LC UDs. I've added carbs to my DDs and UDs and I don't have bad breath anymore.

I know you are doing the good dental/mouth hygiene routine, so I'm inclined to think it might be due to ketosis as well. JUDDD, in and of itself, isn't either a ketogenic or a non-ketogenic diet plan... that will depend on the carb level you choose to eat at.

I eat at a far higher carb level than many do, even on my DDs, since I include a ton of fruits and veggies in my diet on all days and plenty of grains and even sugars on my UDs. I'm well *carbed up*, so it takes more than a single sorta' carby but low calorie DD to drop me into ketosis. I just don't get there.

Others eat at a far lower carb level than I do, some remaining low carb on all days. If you are eating at the personal carb level that has you teetering on the cusp, so to speak, you are probably continually dipping just below and bobbing back above your personal ketosis line, so every other day, spewing out the ketone breath. That seems to be something that happens far more and at a far more noticeable rate when folks enter ketosis, and as they continue on a low carb diet, they seem to adapt and that ketone breath kinda' goes away. They don't walk around stinking for the rest of their lives. That just seems to be a phase that happens right at first. LOL

So that might be it. If you are going to remain low or lower carb on JUDDD, and experience this quite a bit, go the breath freshener/chewing gum route, I guess. I've heard that chewing on fresh parsley gives a fresh mouth too, though never tried it.
