Speaking of the woosh fairy, she should be arriving here any day now. I lost 6 pounds the first two weeks of JUDDD, then nothing for two weeks. This week I went up 2, then up two more, then back down 4. This morning the scale was wiggling, so wanting that next pound but not quite there. I did adjust my calorie goals a bit. Came down a little on UDs, up a little on DDs. Think it may help the late night DD cave in as I just can't seem to stay under that 360 mark so adjusted to 480 (30%) and subracted the difference from UDs so now 1865. Also trying to rotate food emphasis a bit to keep the body guessing. Today is a DD and I am focusing on nibbling on fruit throughout the day. Tomorrow, an UD will be protein/fat, Sat DD anything, Sun UD anything, Monday DD carbs, Tues UD anything, Weds DD protein/fat, etc. Still looking for the formula that will give me a feel good DD.

Hey fruity people...lemon's a fruit...you could try drinking lemon water all day!
It can help with hunger and sometimes a whoosh, too!

I can't eat much fruit because of my diabetes, but I think a "raw food day" once in a while is a great idea! And it's a good way to budget DD calories.

Where wine is concerned I am always deadly serious, lol.

I am having a good DD and don't think I'll indulge but, at almost 6pm and only 95 calories consumed, it is entirely doable. I love JUDDD. (And you PJ.)

WOE: JUDDDD
Start Date: August 27 2012
I hope I'm posting this in the appropriate place but I really wanted to share my latest discovery. This was going to be a kind of a bad JUDDDer's confession but it turned into a JUDDD revelation instead!

I love this WOE. I'm finding it such an exciting learning adventure - especially about myself and my reactions to stress! Last week, I was bouncing between 140.2 and 142.4. I just pipped 139.6 on Tuesday and was thrilled to claim a new decade, though I knew it would most likely rise again before stabilising.

However, I'd realised I had a family celebration lined up for Tuesday evening, followed by a couple of meals out on Wednesday and I thought it unlikely I'd be able to count cals. So I was hoping to minimise the damage with a Fast Five MD on Tuesday, followed by an eat-as-sensibly-as-possible UD on Wednesday. A plan!

Well, I had an upsetting experience on Tuesday afternoon and DH consoled me with a cuppa and a couple of scones. OK, I thought, I'd been going to have a snack around 5pm. Then I looked up the calorie value of the scones.
OMG shed new light on the dangers of comfort eating I can tell you. (Remember I'm very new to this calorie counting malarkey!)
I had a sensible dinner but had my arm twisted (only gently! ) to include half a bottle of wine and a (definitely worth it) warm chocolate brownie with real ice cream. I was fingers-crossing that Tuesday was only a UD and not UUAD - and thinking it unlikely!

Wednesday was calorie-countingly hopeless and I made no attempt.

Today, I happily began my DD but there was quite a surprise in store for me because I was feeling really cold this afternoon and almost did the "sod the diet, gimme toast and Marmite NOW!" I felt quite rebellious about the DD. What a potentially self-defeating situation!
Fortunately I remembered that, on impulse, I'd bought some soup to try - butternut squash with jalapeno. Half the box, with a tbspn Greek yogurt, only 90 cals kept me warm all afternoon. I've just had the other half and have plenty of calories left for some supper and my lovely cups of "proper" tea.

It's strange that I don't normally even think to buy soup, as I love to make my own but I haven't had time this week.
Moral - keep quick (and enjoyable!!) DD staples handy!

So what have I learned this week? That it's easy to feel defeated when I'm cold!

That it could well be OK to comfort eat - so long as I work out the calories and subtract them from my daily total first!

But mainly that there will never be a JUDDD emergency.
I can always start again. I can schedule a DD tomorrow, or even the day after if I already have a commitment where a 300 calorie-day will be impossible.

I knew this! I completely understood it!
But how different to find myself in a situation where I had to actively choose to put it into practice and see the truth and the beauty of it.

Cindy, I just realised I wasn't consciously chanting your wonderful mantra: Relax, rotate, reduce, rejoice. But I certainly put it into practice this week.

Thank you all, who've taught me so well!

130s here I come ..............

Start Date: Jan 2012. Name Kimberly
SO happy to read this type of post, thats one of the best part of JUDDD i think (IMO) that we learn soooo much about our own bodys needs as well as how much determination we really have to hold out on a DD just when we think we cant, that moment passes. oh and by the way,, DD cold is usally a good thing most of us found, usualy a whoosh follows those cold dd.. Keep that thought in your head when you get cold,, (this is great to be so cold for i am flushing out that fat today)

Brilliant post Flossyliz, and well done on getting your head around the wonder of JUDDD.

We do our best to keep to the rotations but when life happens, and it does, we know the DDs are waiting patiently for us.

And you have learned a number of great lessons.

Cici, yes, and they didn't come from cocktails that time...but puddings.

Good afternoon all! I haven't checked in the daily thread in quite a while. WINE must have called me in for it. Kissa, I agree, WINE falls into RAW, Fruit, or just about any other food group a person would want to put it in!

I can't do an all fruit day, my hypoglycemia would have me on the floor in no time! I wish I didn't have to balance things the way I do, but alas, that is my lot! I also have found I can't get my calories much below 500 for a DD without having a major bloodsugar tumble! Again, there's not much I can do about that.

Here's to have a great rest of the day FRIDAY-EVE!

I couldn't remember what SIRT1 was the acronym for so went back today and re-read the chapter in "the book" and have made a note. I've spoken about the gene to some of my friends and was embarrassed I couldn't remember it...must be growing old and losing the brain cells, so perhaps the sirts will correct that problem...lol

I'm finding that when I occasionally re-read a passage it seems to make better sense. Maybe it just has to do with slowly soaking into the brain matter. I've noticed that some of our posts reflect the results of their tests...like the genes are still active when someone who has been on this woe for some time digress for a while and they are surprised when they return and have lost or not gained any weight.

In my reading of the book, I discovered the reason so many of us are adding reseravatol as a supplement and have ordered it so will start taking it as soon as it arrives. I also order L-carnitine but can't remember why...darn brain cells. Can anyone help me? It does not seem to be mentioned in Johnson's book.

And my husband always wondered why I bothered reading the same books several times...I guess he wasn't as slow as I am.

Thanks, Cici! I didn't celebrate because I know that during my weekends off my weight goes up again. But yes, I was very happy on saturday morning and I'm expecting to reach an ever lower weight by next sunday (I'm having a very stressful day out on friday and I'll have to make that an UUAD, but I'm planning to make saturday a DD, to compensate. Don't know if it's going to work, let's see).

Mary asked about having just fruit all day. I have had a meal of just fruit on my DD, usually half an apple, banana, and orange - DH gets the other "halfs" and a grilled cheese!

Getting into real fall here in Wisconsin!

Thanks, Jenny, I'll check it....I knew I'd read about here and keep forgetting I can do a search of the forums. Maybe the res and L-C will improve the aging brain cells.
