WTG Bows1! I find that when I get so frustrated I finally make a grumpy post, usually the next day I have a whoosh! So vent away! Apparently it burns calories.

My topic for today: Tempe is in heat. Ugh. So we now know we need to get her spayed, but I was advised to wait a month or two after she's out of heat.

Our local bully rescue does a biannual 2 mile walk to raise funds for their organization. We always go, and always take Tesha (Boxer/Mastiff). This time I was hoping to take them both, but it's this Saturday and I don't think I should submit poor Tempe to all the unaltered adult male Pittbulls that will be there!

10/18 was my first day of lowering my UD calories from 2300 to 1800. As you can see, I dropped from 300.8 to 290.8. However, I had stomach issues on 10/21 and 10/22, so I don't think this is a valid weight, since I barely ate. It was yesterday before I really had my appetite back. So naturally this morning when I weighed, I was back up to 294.x.

Just wanted to vent over my sad weight situation...lol. I'm hoping this new 1800 UD will start to let me drop some more weight. I am measuring, weighing, and counting the crap out of everything, so I know pretty much to the calorie how many calories I'm taking in...I'm anal like that.
But Karen, look - you've lost 6 pounds in a week. That's fantastic! Keep it up!

Dawn, I think you're making a wise choice. It wouldn't be much of a fun day for you and your family trying to fend off all those amorous boys!

Karen, I am sorry you were so poorly, I saw you mention it elsewhere. But I am pleased that is shook up you body enough to let go of some of that weight. I do hope the 1,800 UD cals are successful. You are a star, you just don't give up. A true BUDDD.

Tempe is a GSD who found us, but Tesha does not know she's supposed to be a bully either. I didn't even realize Boxers and Mastiffs were considered bully breeds until after we got her. She's just the sweetest, calmest girl EVER! These two are heck on our homeowner's insurance though!

Ok, this isn't exactly a DD idea, nor an LC one, so I'm just gonna stick it here--

I made chicken salad w/walnuts & apples, made half a wrap w/arugula, but it was just a little dry, missing a little flavor...so then I made *another* one using apple butter (unsweetened, no spices) as a spread! And it was perfect!

If I wanted to get complicated, I might do some sort of apple/balsamic vinegar reduction, but I just added a little extra red wine vinegar to the chicken to balance the sweetness of the apple butter.

PJ, that sounds soooo good! I love chicken salad of any kind, and love to add walnuts, but apple sounds really great. I'm putting that in my UD repertoire.

I'm kicking back today (on an UD) as I've been frustrated this month...haven't lost anything and got tired of saying that it's just the body adjusting to its new weight. I've checked ****** and found my down days haven't been down at all...more like MD's, with only a couple of really good DDs. So, I'm pulling up my (reduced sized) pants and getting my head back straight....my UD's haven't been that good either, so I've just been low calorie dieting...the energy hasn't been as good; I lost my way, for a while.

So, four good months and then I got sloppy. Have you noticed that frequently we become complacent and think we know it all?? Then something triggers us to return to basics...so out come the measuring spoons, cups, and the scale and I'm diving back into the fray...come h*ll or holidays, I'm losing the next 30 pounds.

BTW, I ran across a flaxseed recipe that I tried this morning...it's just an enlarged version of a OMM...cup ground flax, 1/2 tsp backing powder and baking soda, 2 eggs, 1 cup water, 2 tbs olive oil, 1 tbs vanilla, 1/2 cup chopped or ground walnuts, optional sweetener...bake in microwave for five minutes, let set before taking it out and allow to cool before slicing. It's really good and I think would make a good base to let the imagination run wild...like adding a cup of grated squash, or pumpkin, fruit cake for the holidays, etc.

Anyway, back on track (I hope) and on the weight-loss trail again.

Quick post to tell everyone hello and cheer ya all on! I'm doing great! On day 13 and it's an UD woohoo! I've lost 8 pounds in all so far, and it really seems effortless (*almost*)! I have learned that even if I don't feel like eating all my calories on a given UD, I should eat them anyway because that's what helps me make it through DDs. Is that correct? Thanks to all my buddds and if work ever slows down (I hope it stays busy!) I will post regularly LOL

That is correct and it works .

And, there is even more to it than that. DDs start processes in our bodies that are very, very good for fat-burning, muscle-protecting, and energy-giving at first. BUT if those processes go on for too long they morph into slowed metabolism, low energy, weight loss stalls.

UDs stop those processes from going on too long. If you do not eat enough for several UDs in a row, less than good things can happen (I know this up close and personal ).

"What is enough"?
In the book (and more recent research may call this into question) Dr J says it depends on each person's metabolism but probably falls into the range of RMR (resting metabolic rate) + or - 14%. Most of us find the calculated UD cals from the website work just fine.

Thank you for the *wisdom* Nancy! Just a hunch, but I'm thinking that 'the JUDDD process' that's supposed to happen might be beginning to happen after 2 weeks. I have a brain condition called Cerebellar Ataxia, which has symptoms very similar to MS and I can see the good and not so good coming to the surface slowly, since I started JUDDD. GOOD: I've had *NO* brain fog! When I was doing LC alone, I experienced some, and it was a horrible way to be! NOT SO GOOD: On DDs my balance (physical balance) seems worse than normal. With this disease, my Cerebellum (the coordination center of the brain) is shrinking; hence the lack of balance. I have read on the JUDDD site that it's hypothesized that JUDDD will help with symptomology (of MS), and I have to say, I don't see it yet, but it's early in my journey with JUDDD. I am thrilled with my weight loss though, and am happily keeping on !

Hello though I'd join in Dawn my dog's name is Tasha! It's so annoying when they are in heat though, I live in a housing estate where dogs roam free and they used to sit in front of my door and whine no matter what the weather was like! Tasha is neutered now but I regret doing it as she is a different dog since that was done. I'm on a UD today and so not hungry, isn't it great!

to Tasha and the loss of her girlie parts.

We ended up not going on the Bully Boo walk this time. DH is prepping for his WLS next week and wanted to just have some family time where we just sort of vegged and watched movies.

The next Bully walk will be in the spring and it'll be the first time DH will be joining us. It's usually just Keira and me, so it'll be nice to have all of us and both pups along.

Now I have to start thinking about DH's upcoming multitude of DDs all in a row!

Christina, so happy for you about the pork and potato salad! Isn't it great to enjoy 'normal' food and be able to socialize? This is one of the things I love about JUDDD!

Majella, my dd's name is Natasha, we call her Tasha for short. After we named her, we did some ancestry research, and found there was an ancestor on dh's side - born in Russia - with the name Natasha!

I concur with this assessment wholeheartedly! My experience has been the same. There is something to the calorie difference between the two days that signals my body to shed weight. If I were to eat the same calories, averaged over the two days (no calorie difference), I would gain weight. How do I know? That was my life for thirty years prior to JUDDD with a slow, steady weight creep into obesity. With JUDDD piston action, the weight has magically disappeared on the same average calorie consumption

Dawn, how are you and DH feeling about the surgery at this point? I'm sure you're excited and nervous at the same time? I know it's a big deal to have surgery like that. I hope this will be exactly what he wants it to be, and he recovers quickly.

Could be. Congrats on the great loss!

I encourage you to watch your NSVs and energy levels very closely. When I inadvertently ate too low on UDs for about two months () I lost just fine at first. Then I started losing NSVs (arthritis came back...) and my energy dropped and weight loss stalled. As I straightened that mess out I did find as long as every other UD hit close to the website calculation, weight loss resumed and NSVs came back.

If you decide 1800 is too low and you are falling into a mess like mine, maybe you can kind of sneak back up too.

But, I hope this works perfectly for you!!!

Luv, I adore the 'JUDDD piston action' description!

Hey Buddds, posting in the daily chat thread as well as the NSV's as I think tis important and maybe not everyone reads both, particularly newbies. As most everyone knows, I've been frustrated this month on the JUDDD path as I dropped a few pounds during the first two weeks, but have been climbing since then. I can't really complain as I have lost a total of 30 pounds, so I know this woe works and is worth the effort to put into it. I've checked my food log and think my problem has been most of the DD's have actually been MD's and the difference between DD and UD has not been good...so I've pulled up my girlie pants (reduced size, of course) and am getting back on the path and expect good results next month.

So, that's the explanation. I weigh daily and I'm very comfortable with the bounce between UD and DD's but frustrated with losing my gain for the month and am back at the starting point...grrrrr!! However, I only measure myself once a month...at the beginning or end of the month depending on my DD's. Since I'll be busy tomorrow with no time to measure, I did today...and I've

lost a total of six inches, two and half from the waist

So for those newbies (and oldies) who are still depending on the metal monster in the bathroom to hang their hopes on....the pants never lie, even when the monter does. Hang in there, JUDDD is magic and it works!!!

p.s. BTW, that's a total of 19.75 inches I've lost...now why can't I see the difference? I still picture myself as the person I was before starting this woe.

DH has been wanting it for years, so he's excited. I have mixed feelings. I've seen people do really well, and I've seen people have horrible complications. I'm probably more nervous than he is. I know he has the right frame of mind to make it work, but it's still scary! Keeping my fingers crossed for a great outcome.

I really hope so, but because of you falling ill it may be a bit early to tell.

Mary that is just so wonderful, it is worrying how we still see ourselves as big, even as we are clearly shrinking.

I too am sending Kiera's Dad all of my most positive healing thoughts. We know he will have the most wonderful carer in Dawn, who will provide wonderful DD meals, not all of them Wendy's Chilli.

Karen- I hope these are the magic numbers for you- I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Dawn- I will be saying a prayer for you and DH. I'm sure you are nervous and that is totally normal. It is really good that DH has a positive attitude about the surgery and it will help carry him through his recovery.

Cindy- I googled marmite- I'll pass for now, but not totally against trying it if it just presented itself. I couldn't committ to ordering a yeastie- by-product of beer.

Things not looking so good for My hubby regarding the thyroid growth..will find out more next week.
Im doing a DD today so will weigh in tomorrow to see what damage my holiday with Ma has caused, Hubby and I are supposed to be going away in 3 1/2 weeks time, his health willing, so have a very good incentive to be a good girl.
