Hungarian Wax Peppers
Anybody know what to do with a boatload of Hungarian Wax Peppers? A gift.
They are hot, which I like but really .... Wondering about pre-chopping and freezing for a grab as you go. The freezer is stuffed but maybe could find room for one more bag. Would love some other ideas.Started to ask this on the leftovers thread but thought it might be a threadjack. |

If you have more room in the fridge than in the freezer:
--Slice them up & pickle them, use them on sandwiches/in salads (like banana peppers or pepperoncini). --My grandma used to make "pepper relish" by simmering a variety of hot peppers (de-seed first!!!), then pureeing in blender. We would put a little (LITTLE!!!) bit on our scrambled eggs, tortillas, tamales, refried beans, etc. If you used only Hungarian peppers, it wouldn't be as infernally hot as her relish!!! Or you could add some jalapeños, habaneros & other peppers. --Slice & sautee the peppers (roast & peel first, if you're feeling industrious), put in a jar and cover with oil. This will greatly reduce the mass of the peppers! Then you can add a forkful to other sauteed/stir-fried veggie dishes. Or Italian sausage & peppers, pasta sauces, etc if you like spicy!
