The Coconut Oil
I think it's important to the formula. Something about the MCTs. I tried it with the butter alone, and it was helpful, but once I realized I was consistently getting more appetite suppression out of the kind with the coconut oil, I have never altered the formula since.
I had bulletproof coffee this morning. It's now 7pm and I just felt my very first mild hunger pang all day. If it stays mild like this, I won't eat anything else today. |

Steph, you are an inspiration! Do you only do it on DDs, or do you do the higher cal version on UDs also? |

LoCarbGal, what is HWC? I have figured out most of the abbreviations, but that one has eluded me!
I am going to find some CO this weekend. Any suggestions on the best type? Thanks! Laura |

I am not on JUDD but I would like to try the Bulletproof coffee. I love anything coconut so when I saw this it sounded good. There is one day a week I usually don't get to eat until 7pm so I thought this might work out. I would possibly skip the butter...but I will try anything once! I saw an organic brand of CO at the grocery store yesterday so I might try that but I am going to check the label. Is there anything on the label I should look for??

I like the virgin CO from Trader Joe's. It does taste coconutty. I also have the cheap LuAnn version I got a WM. It does NOT taste coconutty. I'm thinking about getting some coconut manna from WF this weekend, though that wouldn't work in BPC. It just sounds nummy.

Thank you everyone for your comments and tips. Drats! I can't use HWC. The greatest majority of dairy products give me screaming migraines.
If I use a triangle of Laughing Cow Cheese, I can't use it or any other dairy for a few days I can maybe squeek by with a tsp of butter for a BPC every day. It was definitely a huge drawback when I tried low carb. ![]() Laura |

This morning I made up my BPC, sat down at the computer and started sipping. I forgot to add my sweetener! But it wasn't bad. I could taste just the hint of the coconut oil, very pleasant. I knee-jerked and went back to the kitchen and added my sweetener, but now I wish I had just sipped at it w/o. Somehow, it's not sitting too well on my tummy. I'll try it w/o sweetener one of these DD mornings!
Full disclosure, I don't use sugar, but I love sweetened drinks! Coffee, hot tea, iced tea, crystal light. Drinking anything unsweetened would be a BIG DEAL for me! ![]()

I don't think the lowest calorie version (80 cal) is very tasty. It's ok. It's coffee. But I don't drink it for taste. When I've done the 200 calorie version, I've thought it was quite tasty, but I never want to spend those 200 calories on coffee!

Well, I am sitting here at the computer sipping on a BPC with the addition of CO in with the butter for the first time. It really is not bad! I did not spring for the most expensive because of cost. I just bought one in the oil section of the grocery store. Once you get past the "mind" thing of putting solid "grease" in your coffee, it really is quite tasty!
I really cannot taste coconut at all. I will be interested to see how it holds my hunger today. ![]() |

HomeWorker-- did you use the blender, or just melt the butter and CO? the blender seems to make a big difference, in that it's not just grease floating on top.

Before I had any CO in the house, I had tried the BPC blended with butter only. I actually liked the taste better than the blend (maybe because I have the extra virgin CO which really tastes like coconut).
So the other day I couldn't be bothered with the blender, so I tried stirring a tsp. of CO only right into my hot coffee along with a splenda. No butter. You lose the nice foamy effect, but the CO stirred in nicely! You can see the oil in the coffee, but the taste was the same to me. I've done it two days now, and 1 tsp CO seems to work as well for me for appetite suppression as 1 tsp. CO + 1 tsp butter. And then you can have twice as many of them for the same DD cals ... might not be for everyone, but I liked it for a busy day.

Whoa! There's a *pumpkin* chai tea out there? I love my vanilla chai but I'm off now to look for pumpkin.
I have yet to try BPC with only a tsp butter/CO. But I think I'll give it a try in my tea. I don't think that would add enough flavor to coffee for me to be able to drink it. LOL |
