I just asked this in the other thread.

I sweeten my coffee, so would salted butter be a problem? I love salty and sweet.

I used to brew coffee with salt, and still add salt if the coffee is bitter/acidic, and haven't found it to taste bad with sweetener.
The salt & acid sort of cancel each other out. A little too much salt can make it taste a bit "flat", but it would take quite a lot of salt to actually make the coffee taste salty to me...I think! I never added enough to get there!

Remember, if anyone is using this as a "fasting trick", to use non-caloric sweeteners.

Well, I planned to do a BPC this morning (UD) but forgot. Tomorrow morning I think I'll try it to start my DD, with sucralose to sweeten. I'm going to be wild and crazy and NOT count the calories and see what happens!

I'm sipping on my first bullet proof coffee right now. It's GOOD! I'm addicted to my coffee w/sucralose and HWC, but this has almost the same consistency. I used 1 pat of butter and probably the equivalent of 2t CO, so I hope there are not tummy consequences!

I hope this upping of fat on my DD will help me wait until dinner to eat, and also boosst tht fat burning!

I think I will try this with 1 tsp salted butter, 1 tsp CO, and a bit of SF caramel syrup. I just LOVE anything Salted Caramel so I will see how it comes out...

There are 7g carb in 1 cup (8oz/16 tbsp) of HWC;
there are 6g in the same amount of coconut milk

This was super helpful to me today! It's almost 4 p.m. DD. I wanted to get protein in today but nothing with carbs; something easy and yummy.

My wheybolic protein powder has 90 calories for one scoop and a nice 20 grams of protein. It has less than 2.5 grams carbs per scoop. (A "serving" is supposed to be 3 scoops and that's 7 carbs for 3 whole scoops).

I put crushed ice, one cup of cold coffee, 1 scoop wheybolic powder, 1 tsp gluc powder and 1 teaspoon coconut oil in the blender and whipped it up. Oh my!! This is my new favorite drink on a hot afternoon!

It's about 95 degrees out right now. Yesterday it got to 100 degrees so iced protein bp coffee? if that's what you could call it is awesome!

P.J. the info about less than 5 grams of carbs maybe being OK pushed me to try this. I'll get the benefits of the protein with a tasty drink and probably stay happy for the rest of the day.

Yam-Yam, that sounds yummy!

You didn't have this until late afternoon?

I ask because protein does signal the body that the fast is over.
It's not the same as just fat...it stimulates the release of glucagon.

But, that's not necessarily a bad thing!
Just a different effect from the original bpc.

Interesting. Well, I have not had any food since dinner, yesterday, an UD for me. So, I guess it's ok for the "fast" to be over. Although I seem to remember Dr. J stating that very low calories can still be considered a fast or maybe just CR. Right?

That 120 calories is all I've had today so far. Amazing how that shake filled me up and probably the CO gave me energy. Well, and the coffee, right? I'm right now. I usually don't have caffeine after noon because it really keeps me awake at bed time hours later.

I'm willing to risk it though. I'm anxious to see how this second DD pays off post vacation. I still need to get 8 pounds of Aloha frivolity and feasting off.

Yes--I think he does say that, and I've seen similar comments on IF sites. I've read that up to about 800 calories could considered to still be fasting--as far as some of the health benefits go, not a spiritual or dictionary definition of fasting.

I'm just talking about adding protein to the bpc from the "biohack" perspective. The goal of the bpc "creator" was to continue the overnight fast, but sneak in some fuel so you're not hungry while bypassing the "Oh, I've eaten!" signals and hormones.

Nothing wrong with either beverage, just different benefits/effects.

P.J. I sent you a loooooooong 2 part P.M. It's about another topic. My sister has now lost 47 pounds and has 30 to go. She is as thrilled as a little kid.

She told me the other day that she was on her way to work one morning and all of a sudden thought: Geez. I forgot to eat! That never happens with her. Her BS and BP and all blood work is amazing now. Her MD almost fell over with joy!

Had my first BPC this a.m. Normally, I like sweet coffee. Like a little coffee with my sugar. So I don't have it often (maybe twice a month). I know I can drink without sugar it if I add enough cream but it's just not the same. So I wasn't sure if I would like this concoction. I was surprised that I liked it so much. Very buttery tasting and smooth. I used 8.5 oz coffee with 1 T each, 'good' butter, and EVCO. I didn't want the oils to cool the coffee (it's cold here) so I melted them in a small pan. Dumped the coffee into the pan and used a stick blender to whip for 2-3 minutes. Kept the burner on while I did it 'cause I like my coffee hot. LOL

It gave me a good amount of energy and I didn't even think about eating until 3 and even then I could have skipped eating.

Ok, so, I'm thinking about this. I also don't drink coffee (unless I add enough stuff to it to make it taste like melted coffee icecream), mostly b/c I'm basically allergic to caffeine. heavy jitters, heart palpitations if I have too much.

However, i've been doing ok with 1L of green tea iced tea on DD.

I can make it till 2pm or 3pm before I want to eat (of course, I get up around 9:30am or 10am some DDs... don't tell my boss )

so-- could we get some people to say that they go X hours on *just* the BPC, and if they do the 1tsp/1tsp version, or what? I'm curious and want to try it, but need to know how long I should expect to not be hungry...

speaking of, my dogs are staring at me. Gotta feed them... they LC

Today I was up around 7:30. Was a little hungry when I woke (yesterday was a DD) but I worked out from 8-10 and had my BPC around 10:30 and didn't eat until 3. I used a full tablespoon of butter and CO.

I went my entire last DD on an 80 calorie bulletproof coffee. (That's just the 1tsp/1 butter pat version and I did mine with espresso.)

This has become common.

This morning I did the same thing. It's now 6:30pm and I am not yet hungry for dinner.

However, the first day I drank bulletproof coffee, it only held me for about six hours. And there are still some days that it doesn't hold me more than that, so your mileage may vary.

Ok, I might try this on Sunday, as it's after the big meal here (see other thread ) and I don't have to worry about not sleeping b/c it's a long weekend...

So, Steph-- you do coffee, 1tsp coconut oil, 1tsp butter, and whiz it, hot, in the blender (or use an immersion blender I'm assuming), and some sweetner, and drink that.
yes?

I can't believe I'm going to do this! Will report back

I've been doing green tea with 1T butter and 1T CO on DD mornings (sometimes UD too). It holds me til 3 or 4, then I start getting hungry. I know coffee is more filling than green tea to most people so that might make it longer lasting. I don't like coffee so I can't compare personally.

Mrs S.-- I've been trying this chicory blend herbal "tea" thing that has the body of coffee (also almond and vanilla, I think), but totally isn't coffee and is caffeine free... I can tolerate green tea-- hmm, green tea hot latte with butter and CO. INTERESTING!!!

Maybe I'll make DH make coffee and try this on HIM and try the green tea version on me

yes?
I take 6 oz of hot coffee. My favorite is espresso blend but you can use any kind or flavor. Then I add 1 tsp coconut oil (my version is the liquid kind with more MCT) and 1 pat of butter. I add a few drops of liquid Splenda, then blend it in my magic bullet.

Would you mind sharing more about the chicory blend stuff? Is there a brand name I should look for. I have a feeling with cold weather coming, something a little more substantial could be handy to have around.

And yes, blending your coffee or tea concoction is essential, otherwise you get a gooey mess on top that looks disgusting. Blending it gives a creamy, frothy head that makes it feel like quite a treat.

This probably isn't the same thing Soren is talking about, but I sometimes use this stuff called "Dandy Blend". It's made from dandelion root, chicory & other stuff...
IT IS VERY SMOOTH AND NON-ACIDIC. And instant!!!
Love it! And while it comes in small containers, it's also available in great big 2lb bags, so it's economical.

Teaccino maybe? Herbal teas made to taste like coffees. I've gotten their variety pack in the past. They give you a bit of energy without much, if any, caffeine.

Well I just tried the original version and I can take it or leave it...although it may be worth it for the appetite suppression.

However, I then added 1 tsp SF caramel syrup and voila!! Salted Caramel Coffee. Really YUM!!
