Not mice - fish!

But it mentions mice... does that count? :hyst:

(I know, enough with the animal studies already - but this article is *really* interesting!)

The Food Fight in Your Gut: Why Bacteria Will Change the Way You Think about Calories | Brainwaves, Scientific American Blog Network

So there's a bacteria in our digestive system that makes us fat when we eat high calories - and if we eat less, even for a single day, those bacteria die off. TOTALLY explains the JUDDD 'I don't gain as much even when I take a week off' magic! So Cool! I <3 Science.

I'll read this tomorrow, but I like the description you wrote already!.

I'm still reading, but find it :hyst: that there's an actual publication titled "Gut Host & Microbe."

KeirasMom 09-26-2012 03:03 PM

Okay, I finished the article. It's really interesting, though I don't like to envision that food fight going on in my belly.

Does anyone else find it funny that the bacteria that makes us flabby is called Firmicutes??

Wow. Interesting. Very.

Sometimes I wonder if anyone is on the right track towards truly understanding nutrition and weight and health. The pieces of the puzzle are SO complex (can you tell I am re-reading Wheat Belly?)

Personally, I am just glad those firm bacteria are cute!

Nancy, I'm pretty sure no one really has a clue.

It all boils down to what you are willing to believe AND what works for you.

I think I'm starting to have problems with feeling revolted by the eating process again... ;)

I picked up a few too many firmicutes in New York last week. I wonder if the American firmicutes are as tenacious as the Canadian firmicutes. Curious, fat-phobic minds want to know.
The n=1 woman trial continues. :)
