Curious about Melanotan....

Not melatonin, but melanotan! My sister's internist who is also a gastroenterologist in Savannah Ga. told her indeed it works for women trying to lose weight. Evidently, it diminished appetite, increases libido, and helps you tan easily. Evidence also suggests that it cuts skin cancer risk because it allows easy tanning and tanning protects the skin (that's it's main function.) I don't like that you would have to inject it but think I could get my husband to do it. Also, her internist had all kinds of awards from Mayo, Cornell, etc. and says it is safe. Lots of stuff on Youtube. I'd love to hear anyone's experience! I am thinking of adding it to JUDDD!

I have not heard of melanotan. This should be an interesting discussion - thanks for posting.

I just did a quick google search and the general concensus is that it's not FDA approved and not safe for human consumption. There are very few research studies related to it, either. I'd be very wary.

You mean it will also increase melanin? The stuff that makes our skin have pigment? Tan from the inside out?

Mods....what am I saying that is wrong? Hcg is controversial. Low carb is def. also controversial and any regarded as unhealthy. Are we only to discuss things that are FDA approved here? For that matter, the masses don't believe in starvation/ intermittent fasting, and there's plenty of research that "debunks" the scientific experiments regarding Sirtuin saying it was a hoax to sell supplements, etc. I am not advocating anyone try melanotan....I'm just saying I am going to experiment with it since IT IS LEGAL to do so in the U.S. I am really annoyed that my thoughts are being censored when, like I said, it is perfectly legal to buy this online in the U.S. Please inbox me if this doesn't get posted.

C'Marie....from what I understand, you do have to spend a few minutes in the sun to get the color and therefore the protection benefits. We need the vitamin D but not overexposure. In my line of work, it would be helpful!

I've never heard of this. I already have hyperpigmentation on my face and I have to be really careful when it comes to the sun so it's not something I'd ever try.

I'm just kind of curious about the "tanning protection" benefit because it seems like everything I read now says that tanning is also damage from UV radiation. In my younger days I used to think getting a base tan was smart but everything I've read since then says otherwise.

I haven't researched this product so I can't comment on how safe it is or not.
