I also went to about 8 web sites and averaged out them to see how many calories I should eat in a day and came out with 1500 - 1540.

Then I went back to Dr. J. and his came out to 1515 to maintain and 909 at 60 %! So he was right on the money!

Stats: Maintaining ±4 lbs.
Hi JUDDD buds,

Hopefully my hiatus is over now! Saw this thread and had to post.

Age: 72
Weight: 135-138
Height: 5'2"

I have a large frame and really wanted to go down lower...ya know....the numbers game....folks may think that's a lot for my height but we each have to find what's best for us, and I have.

I finally accepted that since I look good, clothes fit well and feel fantastic that this range is good for me!

Started JUDDD back in October'11 and within 5 weeks reached 138. Tried like hades to get lower, but my body said no......so I accepted. I'm very comfortable here and eating is a joy!

I don't count UD anymore because I have a pretty good idea of calorie counts, but I wouldn't suggest that to anyone who is starting.

DDs are 2-3 times a week and I stay within 500-700 calories.....if I see that the weight is getting a bit high then I increase the number of DDs.

I still weigh each day, and that's a must.

My husband is my best cheerleader and is constantly giving me compliments so he is my best mirror!

I know I've found a WOE in JUDDD that can satisfy my needs while maintaining a healthy weight.

It's sooo nice to see you Sazzie!! I still remember your posts being encouraging to me during my journey. You talked then, too, about how wonderful maintenance eating was, and it made me look very forward to it! Now I am there and I sure enjoy it all! Could NOT be happier! Ain't it great??? Hope you post more!!!

I'm not quite to maintenance, but not sticking to the rotation like I should be, because there's a lot going on right now. But I'm not beating myself up if I go over my calories on an up day -- too many UUAADs. I'm pretty good on down days. I've lost 43 pounds so far, and yesterday I wore size 12 jeans, down from the 18s I was into in January this year (has it only been 9 months??!!).

I don't know what weight I should be, but I think size 12 pants is extremely acceptable for me (I still have about 10 pair of jeans from years ago and have bought 4 new pair so it seems like a good size at which to stay!). I was a size 8 roughly 13 years ago and I was too thin. So I don't have to do THAT again!! But I think size 12 is a healthy size for me, and whatever weight it ends up being will be it. Then maintenance will be a new chapter. Gotta love it!

I am not at maintainance yet, but was interested to notice
Janette - we have the same stats - age, height etc.
I am 10 pounds behind you though...
I would like to know (if you don't mind sharing) how much you lost month by month.
My weight is within normal BMI and I am muscular, really hope to get to my goal weight.

It must be amazing to be at maintainance, well done all of you!

When I started JUDDD in Jan I was at 145. I lost wt before that on LC but had stalled for about 4 months. I got to my goal of 130 in 42 days. I really stuck to my calories and rotations until I got to goal. Since then I'm all over the place with what I eat but with the magic of juddd I've stayed right around my goal wt.

I'm so glad for the responses to this thread! It's so neat to see that there are several ways to make things work! It's always fun to have the option to change things up a bit!

I think there are quite a few more maintainers out there, so, if you happen to see this, let us hear from you!

Still here and still maintaining but at 139 now. I saw some pictures from a goat show at 135 pounds and I think I looked very haggard so i gained a little back on purpose. As long as I see 13 something I am happy.

Start weight 199lbs on 2/21/12. Did LC/ Low Calorie until I started JUDDD on 3/28/12 at 189lbs. I called goal in early February 2013. I have been maintaining since then with 5:2.

I've been successfully JUDDDing for 19 months and couldn't be happier. Initially, I lost down to my ultimate fantasy goal, but enjoyed eating so much on up days, I couldn't keep it that low. I decided to raise my goal weight a few pounds and stayed around it pretty comfortably for quite awhile. About 9 months ago, I allowed it to creep up another five pounds, to about ten above the fantasy goal and my body seems to love it here. I still look good, wear my size 4s and 6s, and eat what I want on up days. Love it!

I'm very strict about eating 600 calories on DDs. I occasionally eat two UDs in a row if there is some occasion that makes it easier (such as a family dinner), and it doesn't hurt a thing. I took the suggestion to push the calorie limits on UDs to heart early on and am amazed that I can consistently eat 3000+ calories on UDs and maintain right at this weight!

So, to sum it up:

Age: 56
Weight: 148-150
DD calories: 600
UD calories: 3000+ (I try to keep it a little lower on some days and other days....who cares!)
Exercise: keeping up with my 3 yr old granddaughter, working in the yard

By the way, life is going to get even busier in October. My oldest daughter is expecting TWINS! We know they're a girl and a boy and we're really delighted!

Laurie - congratulations on the new twin grandbabies to come! How exciting!

Your story is very encouraging and motivating to me. I don't know if it'll ever work for me, but I'd love to be able to eat up to 3000 on some UDs! That would leave room for all kinds of fun. And boy would that make 600 DDs totally worth it. I'm so glad this WOE is still working so well for you. Thanks for sharing that with us!

Wow, Laurie, I can only hope that when I get to maintenance I can eat some 3000 cal UD's! Right now if I do that, it takes me a week of rotations to get back to my pre-UUAD weight.

And thank you to all the maintainers for sharing. It's so interesting how everyone finds their own "sweet spot" calorie and exercise-wise as opposed to some hard and fast rule like so many other diet plans have.

You've hit the nail on the head when you said it makes the 600 calorie DDs totally worth it. I rarely have any problem with hunger on my DDs, but when I think I'm too hungry to make it, I just think about how I only have to make it until tomorrow. Interestingly enough, I don't usually wake up hungry on my UDs to start with, and I rarely eat breakfast. I eat most of my calories in the late afternoon and evening.

I'm glad to share news of my good fortune. I never dreamed it would work so well for me, either, since I'm one of those who feels like nothing ever really works for me like I hope. JUDDD is amazing! Here's my logic on the maintenance thing. If I eat 600 calories one day and 3000 the next, that's 3600 calories. Divide that by two, and I'm basically maintaining on 1800 calories a day. At 5'7", that's not an unreasonable amount of calories. My weight starts to creep a little if I do more than about 3000 too many times, so I try to throw in some lower calorie UDs here and there to balance it out and it seems to be working.

I wish each of you amazing success with JUDDD!

Hi everyone.

I called goal in the middle of Jan. I tried maintaining with 5:2 but found it really hard to do the DD's. I decided to just do a DD when ever I hit 140 lbs. I weigh daily. Its a must for me.

Its been working really well for me. I've only done a handful of DD's since making goal. Today is the first DD I've done in months after coming home from a 2 week vacations with lots of eating out and tons of ice cream. I consider myself really lucky. I'm not counting calories at all on (except the infrequent DD). JUDDD really fixed my metabolism I believe. Maybe things will change as I get older but I'm loving this now. If they do I'll go back to rotations.

Age: 42
Weight: 135-139
Exercise: None

What an useful success in maintenance to read about (I just made goal weight today so I've been thinking a lot about maintenance strategies).

It's so good to read that you've retained all of the metabolic repairs, so to speak.

Congratulations.

Thank you for the good wishes and agreed - it is a tremendous help to have people who continue to model a WOE and for whom it plainly works and who are so generous with their support, experience and advice.

I'm still here, and currently maintaining between 145-150 with ease. I'm also now using 2000/1000 as my maintenance numbers though DDs are often closer to 700 and I have my fair share of 2500 calorie UDs.
