DD Saturday ~ What are you eating?
B: Large McDonald's coffee
L: ?? D: ?? I downloaded the e-book of recipes from the miraculous pasta site and am thinking about heading to the store and making something with shirataki. It's been a long time since I used any. Mainly, I started this thread to get ideas for today, since I have absolutely no plan! ![]() |

In the afternoon I usually like a diet root beer or orange soda with 1-2 TBSP half and half. Between the carbonation and the fat, I stay pretty full for only 20-40 cals.
I just can't seem to really enjoy the shiritaki it seems maybe because of the initial odor? Maybe the texture too. So I have found some other "real" foods I rotate through my DD that are my faves. I will copy them here, you probably know most of them I would think since you are a master at this thing! These are all ideas I compiled from many of the different threads here and saved them as a document on my computer. I have many other DD lists saved also under different titles/categories. I.am.a.freak.A whole sliced cucumber with a small can of tuna is very filling and has a good mix of protein and bulk. A little apple cider vinegar or low cal dressing on top and you're good to go. Second the cucumber idea. I slice them and layer with a very thinly sliced onion (red onion, usually), sprinkle with some apple cider vinegar and cracked pepper. Beef or chicken broth. A warm cup with an added splash of apple cider vinegar and a little hot sauce can stop the growelies. I nuke some turkey pepperonis and dip it in laughing cow yummy! 17 slices + 1 wedge LC = 105 cals. Wrap thin sliced turkey around a dill pickle spear and munch away. I have been having those for lunch these days at work. Cream of Chicken Broth I add 2 tablespoons of half and half (40 calories) to 2 cups of chicken broth (I use bouillon cubes or paste-5 cals per serving). Grated (cooked) zucchini is nice too...it "feels" like noodles. Cracked pepper over top and stir. One can Bumblebee tuna (100 cals) with 1/2 cup cottage cheese (80) and dill pickle spears (20). Lots to eat for 200 cals. So filling I even split it into 2 meals. Egg Beaters (60) and vegan Boca burger (70), make like an omelet and serve with 1/4 cup salsa (20) = 150 cals total. Lots of water with lemon or SF lemonade, etc mix. Protein smoothie with vanilla whey protein, frozen leftover coffee, SF caramel syrup (torani) and ice cubes and unsweetened almond milk. (150 cals) Have a lovely day now!

Well, I ended up with a bigger UD than I had planned yesterday, and today I started out with a piece of leftover batter-fried fish.
So I'm going to try to drink enough water and tea throughout the day to hold off as much as I can, then eat some roasted butternut squash to end my down day. My fiance is hunting up north this weekend, so today I've planned a "pajama and puppy movie day" to catch up on some relaxation--it's going to be hard not to snack! |

Thanks Barb, for all the great tips. I too am starting a collection of all the great ideas and eating tips that have been provided from this wonderful group. I will be giving the tuna and cottage cheese recipes a try on my next DD. Also love the idea of the root beer float.

I think I need to check out these shiritaki things.....sounds like they make a pretty good, big meal! I completely blew my DD out of the water by giving in to TOM cravings. *sigh*
Going to just get through the night and do a regular UD tomorrow....Weekends are too darn tough for me, especially when my sweetie is out of town and can't help me stay on course! |
