The Flu Shot

Did anyone get their Flu shot and notice an uncalled for bounce up? I did a near fast the day I received it and weighed 148.9. The next morning 150.5- regular UD. I woke up at 150.5 and I have fasted all day and am still holding at 150.5.

This is not normal for my body and wondered if others had noticed this

Sorry, just saw this after responding to your weigh-in. Your body will see the flu shot as you having the flu, or it may think you got stabbed or something, so it's going to respond accordingly. I had a bounce up after a tetanus shot last month.

Besides feeling just crumby my arthritis hurts so much. I feel like a Mac truck ran over me then backed up and did it again. I had received the flu shot every year from 2001- 2009 as it was required by the hospital I worked at. I know I didn't get it last year, but I think I did in 2010. I always felt a little blah the next day, but this is BAD! Might be worse than TOM

Since they started giving them, I had three flu shots. And missed two weeks of work each time with what was effectively the flu. Now, I never touch the stuff.

I think I'm feeling a bit better today, but the scale is not in agreement. However I'm frequently bloated in the morning so we'll see.

hope your feeling better.
I don't usually get the flu shot only because my dh is required to(works in medical field) and I have dds get them since they are exposed to who knows what at school. I guess I think my chances of getting the flu are small(wishfull thinking!). If I do end up getting one this year I'll expect a jump on the scale.

Almost every time I have a shot I get a sore spot from it. Rosy red, hot, sore swollen lump and often retention. It all goes back away though.

Recently I chose to have the zoster vaccine shot.. protection against shingles, since I'm 69 years old. Doc thought it'd be smart.

Nobody gets a reaction to this inoculation. It's nothing. My DH had his at the same time. It's not even a shot given in the muscle. It's only subcutaneous.

DH got the usual reaction, which was nothing! You couldn't even tell where the needle had gone in. Not so much as a flea bite.

I developed a huge swollen flaming red painful lump on the back of my arm, which grew and extended the length and breadth of my entire upper arm. I ached in every square inch of my body. I had chills. I had to wrap up in robes and blankets. I slept for hours and hours. I hurt for two days.

And then it went away.

I have NO idea why my body reacts so strongly against having stuff like this, but apparently the inoculations work because I am never ever sick from anything! I never get colds or anything. Maybe I'm just a wuss.

And I will definitely be getting the flu shot again this year.

I had a small bump removed from my leg a couple of weeks ago and stalled for those weeks for no reason I could see. It might have been my body feeling under attack. Might have been the body gearing up for TOM. Who knows????

I guess the thing for us to remember and focus on is that all of these events along the way, all of these ups and downs and rest breaks and pauses really don't much matter in the end. They're just an interesting side note to how our body's work.

What matters is this: If we just do this, and keep doing it, and do it close enough to correctly, and do it long enough, we'll be skinny! Or at least slim enough to be happy and comfortable there, so can maintain with gratitude at that point.

I feel a lot better today and the scale is going back down as is my general feeling of being swollen and inflamed.

I've never had a flu shot and fingers crossed have not had a flu virus in years and years. I can't even remember when.

I noticed that when I donate blood I shoot up about 5 pounds and it lasts for several days before it starts to go down. I just assume my body is retaining fluid while building my blood up again. Maybe anything that traumatizes the body can get us a good bounce up.
